I've seen some videos and some screenshots of Darkfall... and in complete honesty I can say that I will not play Darkfall based on what I have seen in those mediums.

Darkfall works just fine for me. The graphics and animations are not pretty, but good enough if the game play is fun.

It's also kinda hard to judge the Darkfall graphics. I've seen so many different resolutions, and screenshots of computer screens. Some look decent, and some look horrible.

Go over to www.darkfall.com and look carefully at the video shaar made and you can see even tho its still work in progress its AWESOME GRAFHICS

It is www.darkfallonline.com, not darkfall.com in case anyone wanted to look.

I would be happy with old UO graphics if the gameplay and fluff eliments were good enough.

Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981

I think the lowest I would go is probably this

Honestly, gameplay is the key to all games. Graphics are nice, but gameplay is better.

I don't care that much depending on the game. I still like tetris and columbus and they're just rows of..blocks.

Graphics are important to me but it really depends on the gameplay. I don't mind bad graphics in a tactical or turn-based game.

I played computer games on computers that could barely handle wow for 5 years. It was always about the gameplay then. Now that I have a nice computer I just enjoy the gfx I can get and if its not good but has gameplay I love then idc.

Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.

If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day.
And then Nebraska would get nerfed.-pinkwood lotro fourms

ASCII text is the worst graphics I'd put up with :-)

Well I been playing Crysis and Farcry2, And also some AOC and Vanguard, and I can the say the ONLY reason I put up with these shit for gfx games  is because of what wonderful gameplay they have.

Wow. You have really low standards.

If the gameplay is actually great, then I'd even accept UO-like graphics, or EQ-like, or SB-like...oh wait, I'm actually playing SB and enjoying it . Heck even Diablo-like (the first one). I wouldn't mind 2D if it's done right. However, nothing TOO cartoonish.

Well I played www.nexustk.com on and off since around '99 or so. The graphics still don't bother me to this day (and after the graphics update a couple years back), it is all about the gameplay for me. As long as the animations are decent, the poly count or artstyle doesn't bother me.

Playing - Minecraft, 7 Days To Die, Darkfall:ROA, Path of Exile

The crappiest graphics in a MMO I have played so far is Star Quest Online but the content in the game makes up for it tenfold...

8-Bit all the way, as long as its non-linear and not level based eh.

If the game play is spectacular enjoyable original non grind and simply amazing, I would play a damn 2D mmorpg.

But...this will never be the case.... so.. forthe mmorpgs we have now... The lowest I would go is Atlantica online's graphics. And it better be a damn amazing game to look as crappy as Atlantica and expect to get my money.

Commadore 64 graphics, as long as gameplay is awesome like they had in thier games hehe.  Fear my bright red dot, it's going to get you!

For a 3d game as long as you could identify what each object represented then that would do if the game was good enough.

It seems the industry is out of touch. The vast majority of respones indicate graphics are not nearly as important as game play, yet developers continue to work on bleeding edge graphics, not polished and involved game play.

Or is it that good graphics are easier to do than good gameplay, so they just take the easy way out and go for the bleeding edge graphics?

If graphics are so unimportant to people, why are more players not currently playing AC, EQ1, and UO?  Everyone raves about how great these MMOs were in their time, but very few still play them.  Why is that?

I'm guessing it's because they *look* old and dated.  Personally, I think graphics AND gameplay are both important.  I won't play a game that's lacking in either department for long.

I think it's the fact that you can't judge gameplay without playing the game so you have already spent the money before you find out it sucks. You can however see what the graphics are like and as some people have said they won't buy a game just based on what the screenshots look like.  If you want people with this attitude to buy a game then you have cater to their requirements, these people won't become subscribers if they don't buy it at all.

I don't think it's that devs are out of touch, they just know that games with amazing graphics sell even if the gameplay sucks.

In my mind graphics arn't very important.  Good graphics is a great thing to have but the real thing I search for in every mmo I play is gameplay.

It's kind of like the wii Vs. X-box 360.  X-box is for graphic lovers.  And wii is for people who don't care as much for the graphics as others.  Don't get me wrong X-box has some amazing games too like oblivion...

If you really don't care about the graphics or want to try something new play Maplestory the graphics are cartooney its 2d side scroller but its one of my faveorite games maybe the best free game I've ever played and it's also the game that got me hooked on mmos.

I have returned to old games like EQ and DAOC when they launched their classic / progressive servers

but I have no interest in playing the old games on their existing low-populated servers

it takes more than gameplay in a mmo -- it takes a community to interact with too

i have to have at least decent graphics ... it could be the best game ever but if i don't like the graphic style i just can't get into it and my ideal MMO i would get so immersed in it.

so that being said Probably DAOC graphics I liked thier graphics back then and even now I wouldn't mind playing a game like it with more sandbox elements.

Again, I find it curious that there are low populated servers if the game play is so good in these old dated games.  Where'd the communities go?  Why didn't they stay?  Can it be that MMOs with better gameplay have been released or can it be that graphics are important to the majority of gamers?

I played AC for 4+ years, and loved it.  I moved on to MMOs with much better graphics but not nearly as much depth.  I recently tried to go back to AC, and to be honest, the graphics were so bad, I uninstalled in about 20 minutes.  I cannot get past bad graphics no matter how great the gameplay is.  I don't see why we'd even be required to make a decision between the two.   Computers are more powerful than ever, the internet is faster than every, a game with great gameplay and fantastic graphics is entirely feasible and should be expected.
