Why do people anticipate this game?

goofy3kgoofy3k Member UncommonPosts: 250

Seriously, its just another asian grindfest game with no depth. Everyone will look the same, 1 kind of armour per 10 levels etc etc...seen it all before. Probably uses the L2 engine too, they all seem to, even the interfaces.

Should really do some research before spewing all over your keyboard. . .

    omg not another one....

Listen this game isn't a grindfest. There are Tons and Tons of quests. You do have an option to grind if you want to though. Quests and grinding give the same about of exp.

The same ideas drive it forward. Graphics too fool its simplicity.

Have you seen the screenshots on this forum? Characters look nothing alike. There are tall ones, short, fat, skinny, whatever you want to make. You need to go to YouTube, type in "Aion" and "character creation", then click a video. Then come back here and type that line again. I don't think you would after seeing it.

How do you know its 1 armour set per 10 levels? What do you use to prove that?

How do you know it has no depth? What did you read to formulate that opinion?

"Probably uses the L2 engine too".. Well, if you have a "definitely uses" then I'd take your post seriously. But probably doesn't cut it, when you can easily Google and find out exactly what type of engine is used.

I won't use the "T" word, cause I've had it thrown at me for making perfectly legitimate points at other games. But you make NO legitimate points here; you give opinion when you could have EASILY verified everything you just "guessed" at by searching the forums or Googling.

You shouldn't be that lazy, goofy3k.

So if games have good graphics, they have bad gameplay? You've been so spoiled lol.

Uhm, not that I'm anti-Aion or know much about it, but how's swapping mob grind for Quest grind going to make it a non grind game?

Does the game has other options than the usual Koreangrind with A+B = C node crafting and RP stuff in the cash shop?

Heck, lots of koreangrinders of today has quests, and less mob grind, but a grind is a grind.. Just look at REQUIEM, wich was bragged by fanboys to be a horror Non Koreangrinder game... And all it turned out to be was the same old same old koreangrinder with horror textures, and many quests to save you from mob grinding...sometimes...

I really liked the customization and was interested. Then, I saw a video that showed cutscenes to go with certain questlines and I was sold. I'm a sucker for a good PvE story. It looks to be a good solid game with some interesting mechanics (flight).

Sig so that badges don't eat my posts.

If this is a Korean grinder, WAR is a Korean grinder, cause the progression feels quite the same, but the combat in Aion is like 200 times better. And yes, Im playing on the Korean release.

I reserve judgement until I can play it.

I've had fanbois sadly touting "second comming of christ!!" way to many times, and then being burned by the game turning out to be "just another koreangrinder, with different textures and a selling point".

Tho, comparing it to WAR might not help Aion, there be lots of people who see WAR as well..failed WoW clone with PvP....

Why are you responding to this? The OP doesn't even seem to know what 'anticipate' means.

The only response here should have been along the lines of "Because it's in the future" or similar.

Im not comparing Aion with WAR, Im comparing Aion's progression with WAR's, meaning, it takes you the same to level up than there, it has around the same ammount of levels, and the ways to level up are similar.

Well yes, I compared the combat, and it's indeed way better. WAR combat felt F2P compared to Aion's.

If I remember right it took me roughly 4 hours to get my wings which is at level 10.  I didn't think this was bad at all considering I know no Korean at all and basically felt my way around the game and the interface.

Lawl prepare to be slain troll!

#1 - You have not played the game - and you can get max lvl in like a month

#2 It probably has the best character creator of any mmo ever - no two characters are really even remotely alike. I mean you can actually tell who your friends are by recognising the faces.

#3 There are tons of armour sets

#4 It DEFINITELY uses the cryengine (from farcry)

Well, then there is a selling point you can use.

WAR combat was horrid! If AIon is better, there be some quality to the game (Not counting the out of the world stunning asiangame gfx.)

I wouldn't be so fast to claim that.

Perfect World, a pretty chinesegrinder, had more people playing it than WoW(by alot).. Ofcouse..mostly chinese....

Yet, despite being the biggest asian game(according to press releases in china and other asian countries) it barely got a toe inside the european and north american market.

Might be best not to claim that really... If the asians love it, it's a grinder

This may have been true five years ago.  Asians do not like the grind anymore than we do.  Stereotyping isn't usually the best way to prove a point.

Aion is using the Crytek Engine. L2 used a modified Unreal 2 engine. As far as the games being the same, about the only things that you could say are the same is the fact that they both have an asian style and are both NCSoft games. Now as to the question of anticipation, I was a L2 junkie for several years. Yeah there is a lot of grind in L2 but as long as I was having fun the grind never bothered me. Aion, from all accounts, will have no where near the amount of grinding that L2 does and have a lot of content availiable for everyone to enjoy.

Because the game do have some different features, it looks like a nice game and many are tired of Wow.

Yeah it might be grindy or not but it is a step away from Wow. LOTRO, AoC and WAR which are the game most people been playing for a long time now.

I don't see what whichever engine a game using matters as long as it can do the job, L2 have lot's of bad points but ugly graphics isn't one of those, particulary if you think of how old the game is.

And about the interface: Are all games that uses a version of the EQ interface as good (this includes games like Wow and EQ2)? No they are not.

I still havn't tried the game so I don't know if it is good or not but I do know why some people are waiting for it.

Goofy or whatever your nickname is, go back to your DF ok?

You make yourself look bad :) This is why peoples hate DF, because the community is .. ( place any lines you want ) .

    Don't feed the troll.

I really hope AION will rock, but as long as I haven't logged in, I don't know.
