Im having a hard time trying to decide if i should dual wield with my Barbarian or use two handed weapons? I keep hearing that if you want the best DPS that you try doing dual wielding. But I have been using the 2 handed weapon, which seems to do the job. I know in the end that it comes down to preference. But I havent seen a big difference in either except for abilities. What would you guys suggest?

There are only two things that really bug me about AOC so I will ask my two questions now.

    1. Why when I'm in the charter creation part of the game I cannot make a black barbarian or Conqueror toon. Are they saying that there were no black  people that were Barbarains or Conquerors back then?

    2. Why can't my Conqueror were pants for heavy armor? I know that the game takes place way back in the day when the men would wear that kind of stuff but from the two movies that I saw  Conan & the other guys on there had on pants. When I see skirts and kilts for heavey armor over pants that really bugs me alot because My thinking is that pants would provide more protection then a skirt or kilt could. I have four toons on AoC all of them are about level 45 but one , and that one is level 72 but I have not played the game since August of 2008 so I don't know what changes the game has made since my time.

Because the guys who work in the Funcom art department are homosexuals who like to put guys in short skirts and ogle them on windy days....

This is just my opinion. What it seems from the way I view Howard and the stories. This is west texas and back then the view on blacks was different than it is now. He even threw a fit at his date Novalyne when she said Hi to a black man she knew when she was a kid while they were walking down the sidewalk.

The other view, in some of the Conan stories Conan is not to fond of blacks either. One story I think with Belit, (someone correct me if I am wrong please) he sends her entire black crew into the jungle and they all die. He doesn't waste a single breath on it.

If Funcom was going by lore maybe it is not allowed or that black men in the stories were slaves. Not pretty, but maybe it was how he viewed it back in his day.

Did they fix the constant disconnects and actually take blame for it or do they still blame end users even though the end users can play any other game without disconnects?

Did they add content for levels 30+ or is it just as barren with little to nothing to do that isnt grinding away at the next tougher bandit camp?

How are the server populations late at night (after 10PM PST)?

I think thats about it. I really enjoyed the game and the first 25 levels.. after that it just got mind numbingly boring and the disconnects/crashes ultimately caused me to quit.

    Howdy Warp!

Yes they have fixed the memory leaks, the maps going grey then disconnecting.  I can't remember the last time I remember hearing someone say they got DC'd.  I don't know what their stance was on who put what blame where, but the fact that the disconnect's have been resolved and the performance overall has improved would lead me to think they changed some code on their side of things.

They just recently added a brand new area called Ymir's Pass which is geared for the mid range levels and it is wonderfully done.  With Update 4 which should be coming sometime early this year they are adding a new 80 group zone and a new solo 80 zone along with alot of changes to PVP and how PVP battlekeeps are built and maintained.

Well on my server Cimmeria I would say the population goes down considerably after 1am EST time.  There are still quite a few people on, but with it being an EST based server the population gets smaller the later it gets in the night.

If you are thinking of giving it another go I definately would!  I think most enjoyment comes from a pretty large population to enjoy the game, I am not sure what server you are on, but they ar ealso doing Server merges beginning in January which should help with servers being under populated.

I still get the occasional disconnect but nowhere as bad as it was when the game first came out...  Although I think the disconnects now are more related to  zone crashing then hickups in their network system...  Because every time I DC to the log in screen my whole party does also...

They have filled in most of the gaps as far as leveling goes... lvl 80 content is still MIA, but there suppose to release some lvl 80 content in a future patch coming up.   Ymirs Pass was a nice addition for people in their 50's-60's, although the zone gets quite a few lag spikes still...

Crafting is still a joke and there's still no economy in the game so gold for the most part is worthless, well unless your buying resources to build the guild keep, other than that there's really nothing to spend it on...

I played the first couple months of AOC and then took a couple months off to play WAR and came back here after the Ymir Pass and Crafting Recipes content addition... After doing Ymirs pass and seeing the crafting recipes being a joke, I've canceled my account again... I'll probably give AOC another try after they release an expansion pack, hopefully they will address crafting and add more lvl 80 content.

James Earl Jones in the Conan Movie was Black :)

Think you have to be a Stygian to be black...  What can I say, Cimmeria is a bunch of crackers...  :)

That movie doesn't count! :) I often wonder if REH had lived long enough to see those movies what he would have thought of them.

I think stygians are meant to be middle eastern.

I made my first Cimmerian two days ago, they are pretty easy to RP haha.

Are all the current pve raid bosses fixed?

Has there been a meaningful upgrade to crafting making it worthwhile and enjoyable?

Is the in game economy now existant?

Has more end game content been added apart from the disapointing pvp?

Is pvp now meaningful and not faught out on Kesh steps?

Are the sieges actually fun now and more like what was promised pre release? Also being meaningful?

Are guild citys actually worth having or just a time sink in collecting resources?

Have they added player housing to guild citys?

Have the Devs actually explaned what the stats mean yet?

Do Funcom take a strong stance on people expoiting game with immediate bans?

Do patches still bug the game?

Have all the server mergers taken place now so people arnt left on empty servers?

Is the population of AoC increasing rather than declining?

Could think of a few more but these are the main things that peed me off.

For the love of God, go to a pve server.

Pvp servers are out of control gankfests full of griefers and other lowlifes. There's a lack of content so most people have nothing better to do than gank. On a pvp server your wife would be ganked by higher level "gank squads" so many times, it might lead into a divorce.

Minigames are a good way to get some non-zerg pvp action but unfortunately it might take hours before a game starts. For some reason minigames are not that popular.

Scared is being a bit overly dramatic, but I agree. If you perfer planned PvP then I suggest a PvE server.

You and your wife should both play at the same time, join a guild before creating a character, and roll on a PvP sever. PvP does happen on PvE server, but its so spruse that its not worth it. The only place on most PvE servers to get some PvP in are in mini games. Now, this will probably change with the introduction of PvP resouces to build up Battle Keeps, but that might not be in game for another 2months.

Scaredgirl obviously has not played at least since septemeber. Since the introduction of PvP exp, most of the lvl 80s PvP each other or dule to get PvP exp. Ganking does happen, but its no longer just grifing that it was in august (even then it wasn't that bad), unless you count somone 5-7 levels higher than you a grifer/ganker. Hell, the infamous grife squad HOGG quit the game.

White sands, maybe noble district, and tesso , at least on my server (tyranny), are the only spots that ganking happens in the lower levels often enough for it to be annoying  and these areas generally have enough people in them to open an additional zone which is should be devoid of grifers/gankers.

Well Xphier has a few points, but he is not able to get them across very well. Let me reiterate what all of us AoC players know. There are AoC haters that hate AoC for instancing and for the Dx10 thing. Then again there are many AoC lovers that love AoC for all the innovative new content, like the kick ass combat, graphics, immersion, animation, PvP, Sieges and so on... Finally there is also a special hater with some kind of illness posting on this forum (see above). He can easily produce like +100 hate posts pr day, and he have not even played the game. Thats pretty much all there is to it.

Well thats avery balanced rewrite of a pretty indepth review, lol

For the record Xphier said that many of the people who love AOC are veterans, thats not rue. One of the reasons so many left was becasue they knew a game should not be launched in such a terrible condition. These are also the same people who MIGHT give it  a second chance.

Just to balance the obvious bias above there are "haters" who just dislike how FC hyped the game time after time after time and then released something so substandard. Of course some will say I fell for the hype but I at least expected a game that resembled something that someone who had designed games before had worked on. AOC came off as incomplete, not new game incomplete but rather just plain old incomplete, choppy, glued together play for free incomplete.

Coupled with terrible leadership at launch, terrrible customer service and terrible decisions on their forums they mamaged to not just lose customers for AOC but a certain percentage would never give FC another shot at their wallet.

Maybe  a youtube trip down the hype trail leading up to launch as well as their main mans lack of accountability after launchwould explain it better.

Personel have changed but tere was ssome damage done that even Baby Jesus couldnt completely heal.

Nothing wrong with negativity and poor people not wanting to spare 30 $ for the next FC game, but there is hating and there is get-yourself-into-a-clinick-forhelp-hating. I know of people that have more than 20 profiles here that have spammed like 500 posts on each of these. That makes me wonder, how can this guy afford this life. Shouldn't he work or go to school or something. lol. just funny, then again these guys are very usefull in marketing as they would say some outrageous shit about AoC, then 5 AoC players would jump in and say how thats not true, then nutcase will again say "oh my FC doll hurts" and another 5 fans would say how good AoC is. All in all it makes the AoC topic stay up there in the public eye and I think it would be good marketing as it makes all the fans come out to speak up against the idiocy. I don't know, this is just how I see it, I am not a professional or anything, but hell it's like the AoC official forum. It's amazing to see how quickly that forum calms down to low activity a few days after a good patch. People are content and just playing. Then again, after a bad patch, LOL it's mayhem for weeks. Same stuff, if nobody said bad stuff about AoC, it would have been very hard to keep the buzz up about AoC.
