I am currently subscribed to playing WoW at the moment. But 2 friends want to play something differant. We have noticed that Lotro is on offer at the moment for £10 (but i think this has an expansion costing a further £10 and that is also the monthly subscription too. I only looked at this in beta phase and didnt think it was worth that monthly pricing. Unless things have chnaged at what the game offers i have told them i dont want to go for that one forking out for the game+expansion and finding it a waste of money.
The other game that is also currently on offer is AoC for £10 (box set edition £15), but i havent heard anything that reports this game as having seriosly improved since release. Reports say the servers are still empty, content is lacking and exploits are left in for months before they are fixed. But could possibly be the main contender still for us getting. Right now i have told them to wait and not bother with anything yet.
EU version of warhammer is diabolical (wont touch that if they PAID me) . Have considered going to the US side (but how would one do that being from the EU). If its easily gained then this would probably be the one we all go for as GoA suck gonads. Unfortunatly warhammer isnt on offer at all and again could be the loser for that.
Having not seen AoC or Warhammer at all (any of us) and 2 of us were in the lotro beta, but decided against it because we felt the monthly price was too high for what the game actually offerd the player. If that came down to £6:50/£7p.m then we would probably go get it.
If anyone has info on these or any other games pls post info about. We are all still awaiting any beta news on Darkfall (but are now starting to give up on any success there).
Thanks for any info thats posted in help. Merry xmas all..

I suggest you do the following.....
Try the games that have Free Trials first. This allows you to have a look at currect game play through your own eyes. It also allows you to talk to other real players in game to get a feel for ingame atmosphere, and not rely only on what outsiders tell you about a game.
If you find one you like, check to see if the expansion includes the base game and/or all previous expansions like EQ2 does.
Hope you find your new game.
I'd suggest Rohan: Blood Feud to keep you busy while awaiting Darkfall. I don't know much about this game; as I am downloading it right now. But, it has a large variety of classes and the screenshots/video look pretty good, so maybe you should try it.
unfortunatly, in the EU not many offer free trials (like the US side does). Agin to take up the free trail of the US server side you must be a member of that continent side (so EU players carnt do this) ip addy blocked or e-mail addy blocked. Have tried to get into 3 trial options and been blocked because of this.
So the next best thing was to ask. So far from these games release's they have been very dissapointing (i wont even consider warhammer-EU version at all) but how would one get into the US side without getting IP/bank side bloacked for being none US?
WoW is well worth it. Lots of fun with friends :]
Op is already playing WOW -- is asking about other mmos
EQ2 fan sites
Well, LOTRO have it's charm. AoC is fixed by now, those months of wait for fixing of exploits stopped when Gaut got fired. And with WAR, don't get the EU version but the US one whatever you do. With AoC it is the other way around, there is the US servers the empty ones...
Any of them are fine. Try the free LOTRO trial and see if you can't get a trial key for the other 2. Any of them are worth the small price they cost right now.
To the OP.
I am not trying to bash you so dont get mad,but i have to say you seem like you are too worried about the cost. Most people today WASTE the cost of a game on stupid things in ONE day,so really games have a VERY good entertainment value, even the poor games.
The best and ONLY true grouping game ever made is FFXI.So if you have friends that are willing to BE FRIENDS and stick together throughout the game, you guys would have a real fun time. You of course need to look beyond the superficial gaming that WOW offers ,witch is ME ME ME mounts for ME/raiding for gear for ME.FFXI is all about team work and a MUCH higher CHALLENGE than all games out there.
The Combat in FFXI is second to none, the sub class system is second to none.Yes the game has a lot of areas that should be cleaned up/changed but for the most part it is a game with a lot of PRE thought put into it's design. The game is VERY large, absolutely TONS of CONTENT,so be prepared to spend MANY months trying to complete 50% of it.There is no HOTBARS,should there be?probably would not hurt, but macros is the best system to use anyhow.
If you and your friends think they can look outside the WOW confines and want a challenge ,pick this game and of course ,having a veteran tour guide would make the whole learning curve MUCH better.
Yes i am willing to be a tour guide LMAO,to any SERIOUS people that want to play FFXI.I have not played in like 8 months, but it would be fun to go through the ropes with any newcomers.I am of the rare few that actually like to play from level 1 again and not hang out on my level 75.
Oh forgot to point out ,yes AOC is a pretty good game.I am not really sure how how the NIGHT time missions work, they are bound to one player,i think means you would be solo,or maybe only one player gets credit at a time, not really sure, but something to think about.AoC IMO does have a decent setup that would make grouping fun and decently organized, not just a bunch of players spamming there DMG icons, well it is close to that but lol.The game looks pretty good and plays quite smooth for using shader 2 quite a bit.
It is real funny how the two games people tried to say had bugs were the two games using higher tech than all other games [Vanguard and AOC].Reality is that people do NOT understand high end requirements of a high end game.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
well, you havent provided us with your gameplay preference so im not sure if you like wow but im an original eq fan and since sony dropped the ball on that one no game comes close in comparison but if yer a pvp fan i suggest eve or gw, eve is supposed to be hardcore pvp(hearsay) and despite its arena function gw is imo the best pvp out there hands down. if yer more of a pver i say both of the previous are horrible and would recommend trying requiem bloodymare (its free, heard from friend, didnt suit my tastes) or ultima online ( which i personally get quickly bored of even though i seem to return to it every 6 months for a week or two lol) i cant say much about upcoming games becasue after waiting for vanguard and aoc, which both were miserably wretched, i have become somewhat pessimistic about the near future of gaming. all the ones you have metnioned looked crap to me but like i said dont know yer gaming preference...i suggest you just buy a 360 and sit out this mmo drought until either a) gaming corps start becoming more involved while realizing there is a broad spectrum of gamers and that the cant please us all and that their not supposed to or b) i graduate and start my own company in which i will try to be innovative and fail as miserably as these recent poor saps but ultimately allow bigger corps to capitalize on my gaming genius roflmao
