One thing i hate about Ryzom..

threeshrubsthreeshrubs Member Posts: 8

Now, I have been playing Ryzom on and off for years. I really love the game and the community is amazing

The only thing that i hate and its getting to the point where i will start looking around for another game is the out of combat HP/Stam/Sap regen is sooo slow.

Don't get me wrong, if your in a team this is not an issue as when your in a team you will heal each other. The main thing is i don't always want to be in a team or there is no-one else hunting...  so you go solo and kill 3 mobs with no issues then stop to regen your HP... for 5 min??

You don't really notice this issue much for the first 100 levels but after that its painfully slow to level having to stop for 5 min after 3 mobs.

Well, I will stop whining like a sick yubo and get some digging done.

Hmhm, let´s just say that using the right stanzas in your combat actions, for example NOT just hitting your MOB of choice with "max dmg" after "max dmg" after "max dmg", will significantly decrease your need to regenerate Stamina and HP. Intelligent use of the Aura Powers will again shorten the time of "sitting and waiting". Use the system to your advantage

At least in Melee-Combat, Magic admittedly IS a bit harder to level alone unless you simply take as short break after each mob and not a long one after 3

In addition its always quite fascinating that most players insist on hunting the biggest game they can get for the most XP in the shortest time solo. Of course that will lead to a certain fatigue over a very short time.

By simply NOT hitting ONE Mob say 10 times with max. dmg. and then having to sit 5 min. to regenerate for 3000 XP and being pumped out by it , but instead hitting 3 MOBs two times each for 1000 XP, with less dmg. and thus less fatigue, in about 20 sec. each... well let´s say you can go on quite awhile before you´d have to regenerate for 5 minutes.

Combined with a little thought on the above, it should keep you blazing your trail for some time AND teach you at least a bit about the system

nice one sam, i can think of nothing useful to add :p

most important is to balance your actions (my healer for example never runs out of HP or SAP, she can keep healing forever, i know, she's a healer, and doesn't get it. But it helps a lot when teamed with a tank if the tank never has to stop to heal the healer.) and not to fight too large mobs.

Oooh, and last night, yes I do a lot of thinking at night, I remembered how to do it with Magic.

Just build yourself a spell that requires a minimum amount of HP/Sap and depends mostly on reach and time credits. Then test what dmg output this spell´s got, find a mob to blast away with one or two hits from this and well... fire away. 300 XP every 10 seconds amount to 3000 in 30 seconds, 6k in a minute, with having to stop for regeneration only about every 10 - 15 minutes... well... I´d say that´s a good way to burn!

If I were a grinder, that is

    using catalysts that doubles xp.

and using single spells lowers your cost by A LOT, and improves your range/time credits. You could pay a single spell with just range credits. (which would give you range 1 meter or so)

better yet, make 2 spells. 1 with max time credit (the first one) to be fired from a long range, and another with faster casting time but shorter range.

and minimal HP/Sap costs like SAM said, to further increase your range and casting time.

Threeshrubs, I can relate to how you feel. I personally have 2 accounts so I do not have your problem and I'm not sure if I would still be playing Ryzom if I had only 1 account.

I've had an idea I've put forward before of having a Companion for every player that would be a 2nd Character that you play along with your main character to get experince for yourself the same as if you were in a 2 player group, you wouldn't be able to use the companion in player groups though so it would just be a soloing option. I am not going to go into a lot of depth but I really think it would make Ryzom a lot more attractive to a lot of players and not really detract from the game as is;; if done properly it would never be as good as a player group. Also if really jazzed up, Companions could a a Pizzazz factor to Ryzom.

Seriously, ever notice how many of us have 2 accounts? Well I imagine for everyone that has 2 accounts there are 10 players that would love Ryzom with those abilities but can not do 2 accounts for one reason or another.

Really how many times do you think a player is going to log in, spend a lot of time trying to find a group and not find a group, then solo but find it boring with too much down time or settle on digging when they really don't want to dig? Players just want their gaming time to be fun, I can relate.

And how many people will keep their Twink account once they´ll have to py for it ?

    *shakes head*

    I never understood doubleboxing.

Did you notice how many of those that doublebox, never even ask for a group?

Strangely enough, I´ve never had problems finding a group, even as a newbe in other games.

If you spamm the Universe/region Channel with "Mage 100 LFG!!!!" then no wonder no-one replies.

Anyway, I bet I can guess your reply.

You can also ask for some regen flowers. Most of the time, those are overlooked as bulk eaters by guilds who own outposts. The ones which are considered as truly useful are the focus ones, but for a soloer, I can guess that Health or Stamina regen flowers should be useful. Only problem is that you can't use more than one flower at once. A lvl 1 character can use a q250 flower.
