About to come back to the game and considering starting a new character or keeping the dwarven fighter I have now...

OK first off - there is no such thing as a Fighter in this game... You either have a Guardian or a Champion... Either are great classes and easy to play/ difficult to master.

The same goes for the new classes - I have experience with the Warden, but not the Rune-Keeper...

Wardens are pretty nice -- Great at solo - cool attack animations, Shield + Spear type offtanks.... Basically you have a character from the movie 300 that you can play... no regrets about starting a Warden.

Come back and try one out - If you know your way around the begining areas, you can get a new  Warden / Rune-Keeper to lvl 20 in a few days, thats when the fun starts!

My experience with the warden class has been nothing but fun. My warden is lvl 48 now and i have been doing orange colored quests for sometime now. I have been able to take on two mobs who names were orange to me for sometime now.

The warden just keeps getting better and better. Once you get sheilds up, a defensive buff gambit you find your able to tank pretty easily. The HOT's though short are stackable so you can keep spamming them and as long as you don't mess up the gambit you can survive.

All in all it is a very fun class to play.

Before Moria, I have 3xlv50, 2x lv43. After Moria, I gave up to leveling others and not even want to try new character because if you want to have a capable character to play, you need to kill a great number of trash mobs to get trait. In addtion, lotro is well known with quest like Find A, talk to B, hand in quest to C, back to A for reward, then Back to D to continue the second part of quest.

In Moria, there are great number of quests are Lost and Found. By so far, the most terrible quest I have done was Book 4, chapter 3.

I will not going to do same quests like this over again and again. If there are less quests like Lost and Found, the game may still keep attracting me to level up new or second character.

First you do not need to have all the traits or deeds done to have a capable character in this game. Traits ad some to the character but not so much that it is an must have to survive. All MMO's are full of quests were you get the quest from a starter NPC, get said item or items. Return them to said NPC for your reward. Show me a MMO that doesn't use this type of questing system.

Book 4 chapter 3 i believe is the session play that tells how balin's company came to it's end. Sorry but i found that to be a very interesting and fun quest. Your opinion is duly noted and is not shared by all. and your post has nothing to do with the OP's question.

Both new classes have unusual playing mechanics, with the Runekeeper being the more "advanced" class in terms of mechanics.

Wardens have Gambits, which are basically abilities that require a build up of a specific set of other abilities (in a specific order) in order to execute. Some refer to this as a combo system. The minor annoyance is that you have to memorize the sequence (or keep you skill panel open) in order to remember which sequence triggers which ability.

Warden's are extremely solo-friendly, and are a decent addition to any group with their ability to do decent DPS, take a nice amount of damage, and tank when needed. You'll notice thousands of them on almost any server now :).

Runekeepers are.. interesting. Ideally, they are the ultimate hybrid, able to do ranged DPS and Heal extremely well. Obviously Turbine couldn't make both the Hunter and Minstrel useless by adding this class, so the RK has a tradeoff - they can only perform one role at a time. They "attune" themselves towards healing or damage by using the respective abilities, and must continue using abilities of the respective side (heal/damage) in a row to open up access to the stronger versions of those abilities. While opening these higher-end abilities in one discipline, they lock the abilities in the opposite discipline.

This setup allows the RK to focus on one role at a time, while having the potential to change between roles as needed in a group. I haven't seen too many perform either role very well thus far, although they die VERY quickly with minimal armor and no burst healing at lower levels.

Wardens are a absolute blast to play, I have not gotten my rune keeper far enough to judge him yet. As far as difficulty, if you are a mash the same 5 buttons over and over style player you are going to hate em. If you prefer having to use a bit of forethought and tactics you will be in heaven.

    I miss DAoC
