The game definetely seems more social where there might not be Region chat discussions raging all the time, but not never either.

Because lore equals game mechanics AMIRITE.

No. The game doesnt magically become better if you take time to read the (inane) story.

    "Taking it shallowly"? Seriously?

Lol if you don't like the game mechanics those aren't going to change so you shouldn't have tried it in the first place. If you're going to play it why not try to see all it has to offer?

Oh, I liked how the game mechanics were explained during the seven dozen fucking podcasts. A lot of people did. What we were sold; however was a completely different thing. A broken system. Oh wait; I was somehow supposed to know that before anyone got their hands on the game, right?

As far as seeing all that it had to offer; I did. I leveled to 40 and tried reading a few of the quests, but both the quests and the story were largely uninteresting, mind you; that was not the sole reason for me quitting this game.

Hell, Savage 2 has more depth than this game's PVP.

Make sure you are on a populated server and an active guild.  You don't need to be in an uber zerg guild or anything but if you can get a static group of six folk you can pwn scenarios and farm all the dungeons for great gear... throw in somr Open RvR and you have a pretty good time.

I recently came back to the game, and no, it doesn't feel like they've done anything with the game at all.  Unfortunately, since I haven't been playing MMOs that much in my absence from WAR, it feels that it has actually gotten worse.  Not really a very good game in my honest opinion, and probably never will be. I'm surprised at how dated it feels already.

Welcome to the land of mmorpgs. Go play original EQ or DAoC (before any expansions - two of the three games that really set the stage for mmorpgs and their future) then come complain about grinding.

I played EQ from 00' to 04', when grinding was actually fun. WoW ruined the grinding experience for me by making it too much of a chore. WAR is the same, grind the tier1  for X amount of gear, which is crap once you hit tier2 and so on. There is no fun in the WAR grinding, nothing to show for it. Only the end game. Which is horrible because there is nothing rewarding about capturing a keep and defending it.

I also recently came back to war. I decided a while ago to do so after they implemented patch 1.1 which was said to have fixed many, and boy do i mean many, issued that people had with the game. Open RVR is finally being used and there is almost always a few warbands up in the rvr lakes at most times of the day. Scenerios were fixed and no longer give people a ton of renown. Also the gear one can recieve in orvr is far better than gear from public quests, as it should be. Also the amount of renown you can get in orvr is amazing now in comparison to scenerios. Don't get me wrong there is still plenty they need to do but they are definatly on the right track. This is my opinion on the game however and I'm sure there will be a few who might flame me and say im a fan boi.

That's all I have to say the rest is up to you the reader. Go out and try the game and decide for yourself.

couldnt agree more.  I wonder if they actually realize how silly they look with their constant anti-WAR  ramblings.  It only proves how threatened they feel by the game.  And yes, WAR does appear to be growing -- so sad for them.

I began playing this game since it was released, at the beginning itemization was a joke, orvr which was supposed to be a main feature was dead and there was no working lfg/chat system...so to answer your question I think they have done a good job to improve things...itemization has been improved to actually be worthwhile, ever since they implemented a new reward system for orvr it's been livelier then ever and there is a regional chat system now...its improved communication but not quite there yet, on that aspect. Overall I think the improvements are good(many others unmentioned) but theres still alot of room for more of that, of course I think that players who join WAR expecting it to be as "organized" or as bug-free as they do like other mmorpgs thats been released for years will find themselves disappointed...a good game doesn't pop overnight just because we want it to, I remember at the beginning when WOW and FFXI were released :p I wonder if the posters that complain about WAR bugs have been present to their favorite mmorpgs beginning? Not pretty, but alas no one ever seems to remember it...

Well, we all know the number you just threw up is nowhere near accurate...Having said that, any company is concerned about competition, no matter the size.  If I open a burger joint next door to McDonalds and they lose $100 a day because of it, trust me they will notice AND care.

Many of WARs subs are ex-wow players, you honestly mean to tell me Blizz doesnt care about losing 200k+ (a conservative guess) subs @ $15 month ?  Will it break them, heck no, but it is less $$$ for them and it is the goal of every company to make the most amount of $$$ it can.  If Blizzard isnt counting pennies then why is SC2 being released as 3 seperate games instead of one as with the original SC ?  Dont kid yourself, because you sure as heck arent kidding me.

Activision/Blizzard is a publicly traded company, they have shareholders to answer to -- dont be so quick to show the world how ignorant you are -- your comment looks really silly -- to put it nicely.
