If you have decent support -- a healer who is focusing on you, and tanks who actually enter melee -- you can do great. Otherwise, you are best holding back to protect your own healers. One real problem with WAR currently is that large PVP battles often turn into two lines of artillery firing at each other, and melee either suicide charges or sits around leeching renown.

You have some nice abilities at high levels, especially fetch, and if properly specced and geared, you can take down many foes -- especially mages -- very quickly. You have the best armor of any MDPS class, and your pet allows you to harass two targets at once. In PVE, the class is extremely good for soloing.

The class is fun and straightforward in thier task.  However its hard to gear up properly.  I see many weak White Lions (incuding myself) who do not do enough damage.  Then I see these gods among men who are just destroying 3 or 4 people before they go down with minimum healing on them.

The WL does decent burst damage, but you will want to layer a bunch of DoTs and debuffs on the target when you start a fight, then focus on the hard hitting abilities.

The 2 common specs people use are Guardian or Axeman.  People will only use Hunter spec to get pounce, which is an extremely powerful ability that will make you feel like a ninja.  After getting pounce start putting points into one of the other 2 trees......that is if you want pounce.

Guardian spec is used by people who typcially keep an eye on their lion well and keep it healed as they fight.  This person also tells their lion to assist them frequently.  It's good for toughness in PvP and still dishes out good damage.  But the lion is very importnat for damage.

Axeman is more suited for loners who don't really like their lion too much.  It yeilds highest damage of all 3 trees.  all you ahve to do is get behind the enemy once or twice during battle and you are set.  the lion helps with debuffs too.  Most people who play this spec use the "Loner" tactic to further boost their power.

I suggest hitting up Curse gaming and grabbing an auto pet assist mod.  That way you don't have to command you lion to assist you.  It will do it automatically.

huh wow ok thanks for the advice and help, can anyone give any suggestions to any other class i might like? I kind of want some heavy armor and weapons engineers look interesting, whats the 411 on them? So do witch hunters, and then finally is there a tank thats fun to play? Also destruction which classes are fun to play there?

I kno these are alot of questions so dont feel like in your answer you have to answer all of them.

It's hard to say what classes are fun to play, as it is different for everyone. I personally didn't like the White Lion very much, and yet the Squig herder was incredibly fun to play. The Witch Hunter is a class that I adore, but I found the Ironbreaker to be quite boring. Bright Wizard's are pretty fun as well. Magus for me was a horrible experience, but the  Marauder was much more fun. The sorcerer is pretty much similar to the Bright Wizard. Shaman/Archmage are pretty fun and actually quite powerful, especially for solo types in PvE. Witch Elves are very damaging, but you will die a lot.

Honestly, you'll have to check each class on your own with an eye toward what you want to do. At level 10 is when the classes will really start showing what they are truly capable of, as anything before that is just simply the beginner 'learn to play' type of skills.

White lions can be very good. You must attack with your lion though. If you attack with your lion your dps is very good. To make sure I attack the same guy with my lion i often put my lion on passive. Then when i start hitting a target i command them to attack.

White lion move fetch is very nice. You can grab a healer or long range fighter from the back and bring them to you and your friends killing them in seconds. White lions are dangerous but they are more dangerous after lvl 30 when they get more mastery points.

Out of all the melee DPS classes, White Lions are the most armored.  They, amazingly, survive the longest.

Squig herder is extremely technical class.  You have to be prepared for everysituaiton.  Surprise attacks mean death to squig herder.

Witch Hunter is a stealther rogue class with a gun and lots of disabling moves.  Witch Elf is your standard rogue with high damage.

Engineer is the toughest of the ranged DPS classes.  They are good at protecting healers and dishing out mass AE damage.  They arn't too good at killing unless you are grenade specced.

If you really want a hefty melee damage dealer, play a Warrior Priest or Disciple of Khaine.  They are extremely good at self healing while dishing out decent damage.

I am an Iron Breaker that is noobish as hell  .

I just entered T4 RvR this past week and I gotta say when I saw this War Lion go into the Destro group and throw (Fetch) one of them back at our group, I was awed. That was one of the coolest things I ever saw in RvR. It was an asset to us tanks to let the WL fetch the enemy for us to safely kill it.  haha

Needless to say, I have played alongside some badass White Lion's. If you can play it right (as with every class) then it seems to be a pretty powerful class. Play WL and do the fetch, I think you will like it.  :)

Witch Hunters are complete badasses. They have the coolest looking armor in the game imo, and they live up to it. The executions they get to do with the pistol take away HUGE chunks of life, and just look cool to boot.

As a healer, I always try to keep up the WH because they seem to be the nicest blend of raw DPS and survivability. (ie Bright Wizard goes down to fast, and White Lion doesn't seem to give you the same bang for the buck.)

They are not heavily armored, but I wouldn't let that stop you. They can stand fairly tough, and the speed with which they drop squishies is pretty terrifying.

PS. The class isn't for you if you don't like dying though. Sometimes they have to trade themselves to snatch a healer. I died alot with this class, but still loads of fun.

I never really liked the look of the Witch Hunter. Looks like some kind of musketeer from the 16-17th century. Doesnt belong at all in a fantasy game imo but that could be said for other classes such as the Engineer as well.

But my tip for a cool class to play is Disciple of Khaine. Dual Wielding bad ass that can dish out good damage in melee as well as healing almost as good as a healer class. But they dont seem to be tough enough to fight on the frontline alongside other tanks, even with their selfhealing they go down pretty fast to focus fire. However imo they seem, together with Warrior Priests, to be the best solo class. Dont think there is another class that they cant beat 1v1.

I find that Disciple of Khaine has the best combination of survivability and dmg output. For sure they have better survivability than a Witch Hunter/Witch Elf and also more versatile.

You're aware the Warhammer universe is, by design, NOT set during the medieval era but is instead late Rennasicence/early Enlightenment?

"Fantasy" doesn't just mean "Warmed over Tolkein". The Witch Hunter in the MMORPG looks just as he does in the tabletop games. And I agree -- he's got the coolest "look" of all the classes. Especially the females... grrowr!

Hugh Jackman in Van Helsing...........thats a witch hunter. Late Renaissance eastern european with a hint of early american rangler/outlaw. Very gruff, but in a sort of oddly refined way. I like it.

As for White Lion. The guys you see doing well generally have some support. Tanks that guard/oath friend a dps class are the guys you need to seek out. After that, you just need a couple heals here and there and you're good to go.

Nope I didnt know that but there are knight classes in Warhammer Online and once handheld firearms showed up in battles then metal armor was deemed obsolete because it was not feasible to wear such heavy armor that could witstand firearms.

So you have to pick, if it is not based on fantasy theme (sword, arrows, magic etc) but rather during times where hand held firearms were used then knights cant exist as the same time.

Anyway this is all pointless discussion I guess since it is a fantasy game (becauseit does have all the elements of traditional fantasy such as orcs, elves, magic, knights etc) and I dont think having firearms mix well with those other forementioned elements.

you really should research the warhammer setting.

They did "pick" years ago and the MMO mirrors those choices. Stylyzed plate armor does exist, so do melee weapons next to crude firearms and magic.
