    Amen.

We should all be thinking this way. Each game appeals to certain people, and instead of fighting about which is best, we should applaud them for what merits they do have. We should be providing constructive criticism.

Now, the companies, we can yell at them. If they behave in a way we do not like, we should call them on it. That is the only way they can know what the consumer wants.

"There are two great powers, and they've been fighting since time began. Every advance in human life, every scrap of knowledge and wisdom and decency we have has been torn by one side from the teeth of the other. Every little increase in human freedom has been fought over ferociously between those who want us to know more and be wiser and stronger, and those who want us to obey and be humble and submit."

i hope it doesn't because if it did and we do get a good game come out they'll be flocking to that one ruining it with their "Barrens chat".

but seriously while i played wow had my fun and moved on, people still love the game and i hope they're able too keep having fun playing it.I kno for some reason people on here are dying for a "WoW killer" game but i could careless.i'm just hoping for a game I LOVE with a good comunity like eqoa had when i played and rather it not have millions and millions of people playing it.over populated games tend to have more ass hats in them.just like i've always liked small tight knit family style guilds more compared to the large raiding guilds.

careful guys, this topic is loaded. Anyone who speaks against WoW is getting warnings and bans, and having their posts deleted.

Hell, I'll probably get banned for posting this. Seems people were right when they warned me that the mods on this site were paid shills.

Funny you should say that. I got some warning for saying swg was dead.. lol

I cant see wow dying .. going to take one heck of a MMO to do that..

I have posted here today a couple of times.. I do not know WHO would want an MMO to fail.. I think the idea is not a good one for the industry as a whole.. I play wow at the moment.. but i tell you this.. as soon as i have had my fun with Northrend (Lich king stuff) I will be needing another MMO just like the otehr people playing... Mostly I stay where my friends have gone.. And most of them are alike as they are having fun doin whatever they are doing.. I hope they continue to upgrade and such with wow..

Blizzard makes a fun game.. tehy always have (Diablo days)  When Diablo 3 comes out i am sure i will try that as well..  personally?? I wish they would come out with a version of Starcraft Online..  would taht be interesting or what??   RvR      Terrans, Zerg, or Protoss guys???  tell me that wouldnt be a kick!!!!

I'd careless.I played It for awhile & even bought Wrath of the Lich King, but I don't think It justified. Not much of a Warcraft fan anyways. All games die.I've seen some former popular games croak & games like SWG Is on It's way when The Old Republic Online comes out.

Only about 25% of the members EVEN HERE on this site have it in for WoW, they are just a VERY vocal minority.

Now I do hope WoW adds player housing and some other features that they will never add.....

Guild Wars Prophecies has a good storyline.  Factions and Nightfall have a storyline that is at least coherent, which is more than can be said of WoW's.  Eye of the North has a jumbled mess of a storyline, more comparable to WoW.

I don't think that a storyline is all that important in an MMORPG.  But I'm not the one that brought it up.

It's a myth you can find on some Wow hating sites, but the fact is the complete Warcraft lore is there, it has nothing to do with Warhammer and stands already on its own feet since 1992.

I have in front of me a little booklet of 1992, with the Medivh Tower in Kararzahn, the Swamp of Sorrows, Elwyn Forest and many other Goldshires and Northshire Abbeys

A book written in 1992 is hardly the storyline for World of Warcraft in particular.  Any storyline components or explanation that never shows up in the game itself is not a storyline for that particular game.

Or would you argue that if one particular Zelda game had a good storyline, all future games in the series automatically have a good storyline, even if one is released with no text at all and even the gameplay doesn't make a bit of sense?

fantastically articulate response to the naysayers I was somewhat gobsmacked at the attitude that the storyline of wow was fragmented

    Blizzard =sub par SOE copies.

What is next?perhaps Blizzard is secretly watching the AGENCY?maybe we will see Agencycraft?lol and guess what it will be on the same warcraft engine lol, because they havn't a clue how to make a better engine lmao.Guess what ,because we can't make a decent looking game engine,we will just tell everyone ,we made it that way so the low end users could play it >>RFLMAO YA RIGHT.

Here we have the biggest gaming market on the planet in playstation users and Blizzard ignored them lmao .great ,CEO work .Does anyone still believe there cheap ass sub par verion of Everquest was to target the low end user? The ACTUAL reason was ,they wanted to rehash there old warcraft engine, because it was faster ,easier and less costly. What on earth did they actually spend all their money on?Did they just hire 300 people to walk around getting coffees for each other?

It was a nice strat for Blizzard, they must have had that one ready for the press,It was a WIN WIN for Blizzard,if they failed, then they could say well we only marketed one particular set of players, otherwise we could have sold a lot more. Then if they get lucky[witch they did]they can say "WE PLANNED IT THAT WAY"

I got  a reply from Zorndork  oops  my bad  Zorndorf :)   that stated I used some sort a add ons for questing and such... YOU are so mistaken.. it is even very rare that i use thottbot... if i do it was for recipes i wanted to find... i use NO add ons and never will..  as far as raiding i rarely do this for the fact its too much time and so little comes from it and the repair bills are enormous... and dealing with 20-30 other yahoos isnt my cup a tea

so before you spout off on who uses what... remember when you point  you have 3 fingers pointing back at you....   try it without those add ons and have a challenge for once...

    LOL

I could not help but laugh when I saw the title of this thread.

Okay, so getting straight to the point... It does not make a difference weather "anyone actually hopes WoW doesn't die"? The truth of the matter is plain and simple.

World of Warcraft will die, it is inevitable. It is the history of the way things work in life. Don't get me wrong, it has had alot of life so far, with the four years and going. But you have to remember, as technology advances, as developers and game designers get better, and as the MMO market changes, World of Warcraft will slowly become shall we say, "outdated".  I know it may sound pessimistic but "hopes", my friend, is not enough to change that.

There is really no way to predict how much time World of Warcraft has left but I assure, it's days are numbered. For all we know, it could be detthroned and replaced by Blizzard themselves. However the case maybe, WoW will die and there will be something new to come along. The same applies for just about everything else in this world.

I wonder how long that will hold up though. Not predicting the death of WOW by any means, but just in the past couple of weeks I have seen a massive falloff in server population, and several in the guild have left the game just in the past 5 days.

There was a huge influx when WOTLK first came out, but I suspect that many - like me - found it too easy.  Already reduced to doing boring dailies over and over, I found myself not logging in for days at a time - and not even caring.

And I know that the cartoonish graphics are what made WOW easy to play on almost any low end computer, I find myself wishing that there was actually some detail in the graphics, and they did not fall totally apart when you got up close, such as EQ2 or Vanguard graphics.

WOw's pop really is a fluctuating one dpeending on the content. People come in to play the prewotlk patch, then it dies down again, people come in to play wotlk, then it dies down again, people come in for the pvp season, then it dies down again.

It's been like that for 4 years now really, the dying down will get stronger with age but even till short ago the game has still grown remarkably. Even if the dying down has already started I doubt it will dip below 5 million subs in the next 4 years unless they release their new MMO within that time.

I don't care what happens to it honestly lol  I know there are some who never want it to die - that's understandable w/ how many hours most of us play it.  I loved wow in the beginning but now I'm a little bored and am looking for the next great MMO.  Also, if WoW died then all those kids would just flood into the other great MMOs and bring them down /sigh

Its not that I hate kids, I just don't like playing online games with them

  • MagterMagter Member Posts: 289

I don't care what happens to WoW but chances are it will die out and Blizzard's "new MMO" may take it's place whether it's WoW 2, World of Diablo, or some other new genre in their industry.

IMHO...the only way WoW can die is if those 11.5 million people or so cancel and quit the game.

Well it probably won't die for quite some time, but neglect of PvP and newer games coming out that give what WoW won't will widdle away at it or eventually replace it. Sure WoW will still post that they have millions of users, but, so does Runescape and we all know how real those numbers are don't we.

Oh and as for Blizzards new mmo If Chilton is involved expect people not to even touch it, that mans name is synonymous with the plague.

     Most MMOs never really die.

That being said, there has never been an MMO that deserves a painful death more than WoW. Except perhaps AoC, but that's already dead.

That's what you get for destroying the MMO industry...

  • VyntVynt Member UncommonPosts: 757

I would think people would not want WoW to die.  I've gone back periocically and the community gets worse and worse each time. People should want WoW to continue so the vast amount of morons in the game will stay there and not infringe on one's future game.

Sure, there are some good people, but it has the worst community in any MMO I have ever played ( and ive played a lot). Better they stay there.

Nah, dont think they would change. wow is the first and last MMO for wowers, after that they'll return to shooters or whatever

Could someone dial 911 for this guy please.

Warcraft will NEVER die, or better said, not in our life times.

Did Disney die? Nope; Will Pokemon die ? Nope.

The Warcraft franchise is that big that I foresee an ever changing Wow1, Wow2, Wow3 for the next 3 to 4 decades.

Warcraft is 15 years old and dozens of publishers will want that franchise in their boot.

Sorry but chances are that SignusM dies "a painful death" sooner than Warcraft :))))

Warcraft will NEVER die, or better said, not in our life times. If you're 89, perhaps.

Did Disney die?  Nope Does frozen solid count? But if you're talking about the company, Michael Eisner almost ran it into the ground before he was given the boot.  Decades of work can be brought down to nothing by a cruel twist of fate.  Look up Barings Bank, or more recently, Merrill Lynch.; Will Pokemon die ? Nope. Very few things never die -- and it's nigh impossible to predict what.  Is Sailor Moon dead?

The Warcraft franchise is that big that I foresee an ever changing Wow1, Wow2, Wow3 for the next 3 to 4 decades. We don't know what the state of the industry will be five years from now, let alone two decades.  Look up the problems, legal and otherwise, at NCSoft.  Also see the happenings at Electronic Arts, as solid a game company as you could have expected.

Warcraft is 15 years old and dozens of publishers will want that franchise in their boot. Tastes change. D&D in the late 90's looked dead before "Baldur's Gate" resurrected the franchise.

Sorry but chances are that SignusM dies "a painful death" sooner than Warcraft :)))) Should I call the cops?
