major differences are PotCO has more avatar based combat and a lot more players running around but lacks the in depth ships, and real map of the caribbean (anyone else notice how port royale is right across from tortuga and how cuba is misplaced aaagghh drives me crazy but hey thats aside from the point) PotBS is fun but just another big grind and the economy/population aren't there to maintain you. You will have to craft if you want ships or make friends with the higher lvls and join a guild but they're very wary of new playeres cause they feel you could be a spy for a rival nation (yea its that pathetic) This is just a game left of elite players holding onto it, until its easier to solo and level up faster this game will keep decaying with time but I don't see a fall like TR. so in short one has players one doesn't or atleast not on my server an i'm not remaking an wasting time to do that with DF around the corner (gonna try to be a pirate there)
On the contrary, there are many societies who take in new players - I got an alt into one of the two largest Brit socs on Blackbeard and my main into one of the top 5 Pirate socs on Antigua at low levels. Just be sociable, it's not very difficult to make friends! From what I've seen, folks are more wary of helping trial players with hundreds of thousands of doubloons worth of free stuff only to have them jump to another society than any spying.
Also, in my opinion the levelling is easier in this game than a lot of other games I've played. It wasn't difficult to go from Level 1 to Level 50 all by myself in 5 weeks or so just through missions alone. If I played more hours per day, it could've been done in 3 weeks.
As to differences with PotC, I never played it but I saw vids of it on YouTube and it looks terrible to me.
POTC is more children oriented and it works, POTBS has pretentions to be adult oriented and it is only half working.
In my opinion POTC is a superior product on the simple merit that it delivers what is promised.
Pirates of Caribbean Online is similar to other type of F2P on the market but quality better. I think the game is mainly to reward people traveled to Disneyland World so you can use coupon for free play. The background is all like the Movie. If you have seen the movie then it will be more fun to play the game. The spirit of the game is Follow the Code.
I have subscribed 6 months for 49.95 but never bother to login after I paid.
Pirates of the Burning Sea? The game makes me want to be a game designer. I would do it free for the game company.
