snowyjoesnowyjoe Member Posts: 36

Hello All

I'm looking for an MMO that has the same combat system as World of Warcraft (having to move around using the WSAD and Line of Sight, Range, Manually having to move around)

but with the same gameplay as Guild Wars (PvEing or PvPing for new Skills and dye, and stuffz)

Anyone have any ideas?

Warhammer for the combat system. Ogre Island for gameplay.

WoW is garbage! Lol! Sorry I had to say it. Bu sir, your 10 years too late. Your favorite MMO was called EQ. But the dude who posted above me, would say it right. Warhammer is a wow clone. You could try LotR as well.

Runes of Magic sounds close to what you're looking for. It's very similar to WoW and yes you can dye your items. However I have no comment on its PvP as I generally don't PvP in games.

if you are looking for an F2P game that have a good graphics and a unique battle system i recommned you to try playing atlantica online, and if you likie chibby type of charcaters play flyff online.

Wow thanks for the reply guys.

Yeah WoW is crap, i just like the feeling when i play WoW how my keyboard and my mouse acturally feel like my arms and legs, rather than clicking on a spot on the ground or clicking on the enemy and letting my charater pretty much do everything else.

I'll look into all your suggestions thanks.

I want to try Warhammer, because i bought the Tabula Rasa collectors edition.... but turned out I didn't really like it. Would be great if someone could point me in a direction of a trial account.

You want the combat of WoW but the gameplay of Guild Wars?  Is combat not the very core of gameplay in most MMORPGs?  Guild Wars itself has most of the pieces of WoW that you cite:  WASD movement, various ranges of spells or attacks, and manually moving around.

There are, of course, some huge differences between Guild Wars and WoW combat:  Guild Wars combat moves at a faster pace, is usually grouped (with henchmen/heroes) rather than often solo, makes you use several skills but caps you at 8, rather than giving you a huge skillbar to mostly just spam a few, etc.  But you don't say which side you prefer for which features.

Combat is not the very core of game-play in a well-designed mmorpg, balanced content is, really.  Now Runes of Magic has everything and in-development of fantasy Macro-Payment mmorpgs available today.  Polish is in-process as they work through the open beta, and is coming along nicely.

You get much of the same content, if not more, graphics, game-play of questing, item accumulation, item specialization, story-line, economy, crafting, PvE & PvP combat, community, etc.  Major difference is that you dont have to buy a $50 box and pay $15/month and there is no micro-transaction item mall at the moment, but when it is available, it won't make the substantial/noticaable competitive difference between one who uses it and one who doesnt.

However, by that time, Darkfall will be available and it will be time to pick it up as it will come to be the best sand-box, player-freedom and driven focused mmorpg available that is skill-centric rather than class or level centric with everything had from past mmorpg's plus evolutionary implemented concepts that aren't available in any one game today.

So choice 1 is Runes of Magic, then Darkfall when it's available.

Let's just hope that DF lives up to it's promises.

I agree that Warhammer is probably a solid choice. However the PVE is not as good as WoW's. Also consider DAOC on a populated (classic) server

When i ment the combat system of WoW, i probably ment the movement system of WoW >.<

Like how in Guild Wars you can't really Jump around :P

Sometimes in WoW, your arrows/spells go through trees or even hills. Crappy LoS.

In Warhammer, your arrows/spells do not go through trees or even hills. LoS is very exact, which means you have to move around and stay in range alot. WAR is also easy to pick up and learn and similar to WoW. PvE is alright, PQs are the only really unique addition. PvE content is just a little lacking but dungeons are easy to add and will come with time; game's only been out for 3 months now
