Out of interest what character are you playing? I started with PoM, bit bored with spells only, moved to BS and really enjoyed playing that (79) now, but now moved to Assassin and I have to say its freaking awesome! So much DPS but so little healing ability, really makes you improve your combat because there are no excuses for sloppiness. Hardcore fatalities as well. I actually thought the PvP was average until I actually learnt how to fight properly. Now its really enjoyable and against a good opponent it really is incredible. To answer question around end game content. They are bringing in another level 80 dungeon for solo which allows you to enter a new level 80 dungeon for group. Plus resource wars will begin as they bring in resource specifically for Keeps and you drop resource if killed in PvP.
Assassins are good now?
When i last played all the Assassin crowd were whining because the class was so weak, i used to play Barbarian what are they like now?
sins are kinda op now
Depends on who they fight against. You know, that whole thing about rock, scissors, paper. I think FC did a marvelous job ensuring that each class remains somewhat unique and that each class also has a nemesis. It's important otherwise the whole thing would just go bland.
Don't lie to people. 1v1 a decent sin will beat every class if speced correctly, knows when to hinder, and when to pop fear. In group play they are somewhat OP because you can wail on them for a good min or so and they won't take dmg due to their cat's paw and other defense buff and if you manage to do dmg to them they can heal it all back. Yes these skills are on somewhat long CD, but FFS thats still OP.
You have some nerve.. Lie !!! Who lies here. There is no way an assasin can handle any of the Tank classes 1 v 1 if the tank is speced heavy tankish. I know because I have a wide variety of tanks and even though the Assasins initial blow is PAIN, I can remobilze and turn the fight around. Also, remember that no class is identical in AoC due to the destiny quests. If a guy choose all on max damage as he progress in level, he will of course suffer on health and health regeneration side. Also if a guy pop a healing pot, the assasins whole surprise game and sudden initial damage thing falls a bit appart. Get you stuff straight and fcking chill on calling people a liar.

I don't know what server you are on, but the sins on Tyranny destory solider classes every single time. Ok, lets agree that communication is more fruitfull if people stay away from insulting phrases like, "you liar", "Youre an idiot", "WTF are you thinking on". Again I am not looking to become your friend, but I belive your soldier friends fell for the temptation on going for full damage on all the destiny quests. That is not a good idea. For me a Sin really would have to work his ass of to pull me down, I am specced on high regeneration.

No temptation to go for something that doesn't apply when you're PvPing.

Ohh really. I did not know that, hmmmmmmm we better ask Avery or open a post in the AoC official forum on this one. I would have imagined the destiny quests also count in PvP. Again, this was new for me. I guess I am just plain out very good in PvP then
Let me begin by saying that I got suckered into the hype that was AoC and was sadly disappointed during the few couple of months. However, I am very happy I stuck with it, as Funcom has made great improvements in many aspects of the game, especially with performance.
I run AoC on a laptop HP Pavillion dv9335nr, and on launch got around 5-15 FPS on average on medium settings, and crashed quite a few times (along with massive "red" lag spikes). For the past few months my FPS has been anywhere from 30-60 FPS on average (depending on the zone and where I'm looking), and I have yet to crash in 3 months or have a major lag spike (and I'm on Tyranny, one of the most populated PvP servers out there).
Yes they've made a lot of improvements to stability, performance, dungeons, and content in certain level ranges, and with the upcoming addition of two new 80 dungeons, another 70-80 zone, and the new itemization (which will redo how stats/feats/skills apply to the character and will add a lot of new item sets), I think this will be the game to beat on the market.
However, I feel like Age of Conan is like Vista, in which everyone hears the name is like "ewww... can't touch that". Well I've had Vista from day one and haven't had a single problem, crash, virus, or spyware issue with it, and yet it still has a horrendous opinion out on the internet. Age of Conan is exactly like this. It had a bad launch full of bugs and stability problems, and now no one will give it a second chance.
So my recommendation is simple: if you're tired of all the games out on the market now and are willing to get past the "Oh my god it's Age of Conan and Funcom!" ordeal, give it a shot. You probably will be surprised at just how fun this game is, and after the incoming level 80 content is implemented, the PvP resources are implemented, and DX 10 is implemented (all incoming in patch 1.4, the current patch on testlive), and then the new itemization comes into the game (which is expected in the next patch after 1.4 and is going to make some HUGE changes), I think this game WILL succeed and will not disappoint you.
Of course like everything else this is merely my opinion, but don't take this post as a post from a fanboy, because I will admit that Funcom screwed up hardcore at launch and that the game was plagued with problems, but I will also state that I think the game is in very good shape performance and stability wise now and that many additions and improvements have been made, and that the best in terms of additions will make it to live very soon.
Keep drinking the cool-aid. There is absolutely nothing I can't get from RoM that I could in AoC, and actually the PvP reputation system is RoM is far more well though out. Aside from that, it's free-to-play, has comperable graphics, skill development, community, economy, crafting, full-time development staff, attentive customer service. Micro-transaction system isnt in, but it doesnt matter since there will be no item or equipment advantages to using it, so the AoC macro-transaction of fleecing their subscriber base is the sux, and RoM free is the win.
Are the forums still run by volunteers? Are they still charging $$ for free trials? Are they still unresponsive to complaints when they deviate from the Conan license? Did they suddenly start announcing future plans for the game?
I could care less about bugs. Everybody knew that the bugs would eventually clear out. It's the lack of ethics and poor vision for the future that keeps me away. Don't be blind, people. There is a right way and a wrong way to treat your customers, and FC is still an example of the latter.

Are the forums still run by volunteers? This is the way it is with most games forums; however, just like other games there are community relations managers that reply to threads and say I'll use my power to poke the people upstairs to get a response. There has been more actual Dev responses as well Are they still charging $$ for free trials? They still charge or the DL, but a win back and get new player campaign is going to start in the next 3 months(Jan-Mar). Although they still charge the $3, you can download the game for free via torrent Are they still unresponsive to complaints when they deviate from the Conan license? I don't know what you mean by this because from all the RPers that play the game they are happy with the direction it took. Did they suddenly start announcing future plans for the game? Yes they have "suddenly" started talking about future plans, although this takes place more so on the test live forums then on the regular ones. However, about 2 week before each incoming patch the new game director Craig Morrison explains why the charges are being made and how these charges are going to work with upcoming updates. He has written at least 1 community letter a month since taking the job in September. Furthermore, under his direction, dev deparment heads have fequented the forums and made responses to several post. I could care less about bugs. Everybody knew that the bugs would eventually clear out. It's the lack of ethics and poor vision for the future that keeps me away. Don't be blind, people. The only people that think things look stupid are the ones that did not come up with the idea or make it in the first place. like most Mods, they just rearrange what they were given. Like the Old saying "I could have done better". LMAO but you or i did not so give the developers the thumbs up or you would have nothing to work with.
As for WoW I hated the cartoon look before I finally tried it, then I got used to it, then when I left it i still hated the cartoon look.
So who came up with it first doesn't really matter.

Ye,bugs are fixed. Nothing new about everyone running around in the same gear.Been like that in every game i ever played.Wow more then any. Full Disney armor is ok in games like wow and war, where it dont matter if youre shoulderarmor is bigger then youre whole body.It looks like a stupid cartoon anyway.

People are allowed to think something that you don't think without being resentful they didn't come up with it. Maybe they just thing it's stupid. And anyone who says WoW doesn't look like a cartoon is stupid. I'm not saying it's not good art direction, but it is very much a cartoon.
"There are two great powers, and they've been fighting since time began. Every advance in human life, every scrap of knowledge and wisdom and decency we have has been torn by one side from the teeth of the other. Every little increase in human freedom has been fought over ferociously between those who want us to know more and be wiser and stronger, and those who want us to obey and be humble and submit."

Most forums are like this? I can't think of any major MMOs that have volunteers run their official forums besides AOC. Aside from that, I don't care how you try to rationalize it. I get into an argument with a mod that has his own personal agenda and he slaps me with a temp ban and 3 points towards perma ban for "questioning moderation." It's dumb and it actually happened. In fact, it was that precise incident that caused me to cancel. The mod's name is Hackthorr, and if he doesn't like what you have to say, you're suddenly "questioning moderation."
They still charge or the DL
A simple "yes" would have done nicely.
I don't know what you mean by this because from all the RPers that play the game they are happy with the direction it took.
Not sure which approach to use when ripping this argument to shreds. First of all, I am going to go out on a limb and say I am 100% certain that you have not even met all the RPers that play the game, let alone asked them each personally how they felt. Second of all, a breach of canon is not a matter of community opinion. Deviations abound in this game and ruin it for me. I want REH's Conan, not FC's incorrect and poorly translated version. Even so, let's say for the sake of argument that you somehow sat down and interviewed every single RPer who still plays, and 100% of them said they were happy with FC's treatment of the game. How does this represent me? I'm a player who left partly because of their deviation from the license and style of REH's work. To get a real indication, you'd need to interview people like me as well, and I guarantee the responses would not be quite as rosy.

Baby steps IMO. To impress me, they would need to take massive strides instead.
Really, read above. This hasn't been true since late September.
You are aware that I firmly believe that each of the arguments I made are enough reason to not sub to AoC in their own right, and that each individual argument represents a facet in which FC is disrespecting its customers, right? That's where I stand on these issues, and its why I quit. Was AoC a fun game? Sure, but I don't care. It's the principal of the thing.

By strides you'll need to elborate, because what the dev team and game director do now is on par and sometimes above other games in their communication. Your reason are very good reason not to sub to AoC or cancle an existing sub, but my counter arugment, which isn't just fanboy BS, are reasons to resub or sub if that was the issues you were having with the game.
As far as the RP comment I left out "all the RPers I''ve talked to or read on the forums" of course I didn't talk to 100% of the RP player base, but if you expected a fantasy MMO not to have magic classes then you may have expected too much.

Like the Old saying "I could have done better". LMAO but you or i did not so give the developers the thumbs up or you would have nothing to work with.
John Parry, to his son Will; "The Subtle Knife," by Phillip Pullman
Most forums are like this? I can't think of any major MMOs that have volunteers run their official forums besides AOC. Aside from that, I don't care how you try to rationalize it. I get into an argument with a mod that has his own personal agenda and he slaps me with a temp ban and 3 points towards perma ban for "questioning moderation." It's dumb and it actually happened. In fact, it was that precise incident that caused me to cancel. The mod's name is Hackthorr, and if he doesn't like what you have to say, you're suddenly "questioning moderation."
A simple "yes" would have done nicely.

[/quote]
Baby steps IMO. To impress me, they would need to take massive strides instead.
