Ok i really want to try this game out considering it has such a good review from several people on here. And it just plain looks awesome :O... but...
The download for it is 2g's :O that an 8-10 hour download... is it really worth it??????
please add good features about the game and tell me how much YOU like it to re-ensure me lol...

I suggest reading the many threads and posts already in this forum instead of asking people to repeat themselves.
If you have read everything it has to offer only you can answer if it is really worth it. If you're unsure about something specific that hasn't already been answered, or you just can't find it, feel free to ask.

anyway its worth if for me... actualy i downloaded the game for only about 3 to 4 hours.. it depends on your internet connection...

yes it is worth that download time.. this has many great features.. i'm sure you will be hooked into this game..
by the way.. how fast is your internet connection? this game only took me 4 hrs to download.. from what site did you download the game?

i honestly think it's worth the download time. i have a really slow internet connection at home so what i did was ask a friend to download it for me through torrent. he ended up playing the game too.
you may have problems with the download. i don't really know much about solving them but you can always consult those who created download problem threads.

I always download when I go to bed......Most of the time you wake up in the morning and the download is pretty much done........IMO it is worth it....the game is a nice break from the typical MMO.....Just give the game a chance....If you reach level 30 or so and still dont liek it then OK it wasnt for you but dont judge it on the first 5 levels....The game is easy to begin with because they are teaching you the various things in it........
Definitely worth the download (even though I downloaded it in 27 minutes... Optonline + Fileplanet sub = the deal)
I hate Asian MMOs, especially F2P ones, so I had my prejudices, but I cannot believe how much I am liking this game. First MMO I've ever seen with old-school party based and turn based combat systems. Excellent community tools, guild tools, crafting system, and, surprisingly, an excellent and helpful community. I like it so much, I actually spent some money in the cash shop, I can't believe I just said that...
As I've posted several times before, I would suggest using Flashget or Free Download Manager to download the file. You can download it and pause the download whenever you wish, then resume it when you go out or go to bed. You should be able to download it overnight. Whatever you do though, do not try to download files this big with Internet Explorer. IE (for some stupid reason) will not download files this big.
Very worth it.
Make sure to read the other posts on this forum. Many have gone into depth about a lot of the games features.
People either love this game or hate it, so you'll find varied reviews from both sides.
just to update this thread, im still in love with the game haha... i transfered server and didnt mind doing the quests all over again haha

I tried it a few days ago and I really couldn't stand it.
I will, however, after reading through tons of positive reviews, try it again and see if I either did not give it a fair shot or if it is simply the polar oposite of what i like in a game...
I tried it based on advice from a friend, knowing that I loved the old gold box SSI games and the M&M series , etc... and i love mmorpgs in general. But this one simply went against everything I enjoy...
Again... perhaps i need to give it more than a couple of hours... i will try it again and see, to be fair

There are certain elements of the game I don't like, and certain parts I believe could be a lot better. However, at the core I think it's a great game and because it's free I look past it and have accepted what I don't like.
If all games had a baseline cost, such as $50 and $15 a month there is no way I would consider this game as the top game. All things not being equal, and this game being free it makes a very compeling case to be top ranked game. Although, I could be considered a hypocrite because I am seriously considering purchasing a few permanent merc room licenses from the item mall. That would make me a paying player, so I guess you can say I think the game is worth paying for.
the combat felt very "consoley" to me, and I hate console games.
I don't mean the turn based... because as i said I am a huge fan of old school rpgs like the gold boxes and M&M series... wizardy... etc...but Atlantica felt like an arcade game to me during combat.
I mean just the feel and music in combat... truly sucked to me.... bad enough that i really couldn't get past it. Also, when moving around, it felt a bit like GW to me, another game I couldn't stand due to the fact that I couldn't explore freely. In Atlantica, the first ledge that I came to, I couldn't even fully approach it to look over the edge. That stuff really annoys me. Both RoM and Requiem are free and far more explorable in my opinion, but again... I am going to DL and re-install Atlantica and give it a fair shot... as I truly only gave it an hour or so... so i could be completely wrong and the later game opens up to exploration and such...
we'll see soon enough, just finished the DL again and will reinstall now

This is probably the best, now this game doesnt offer the level of polish the big P2P mmos do.

Well, I put in about 10 hours or so yesterday.
I will admit that it's not as bad as I originally thought, and it doesn't really deserve my bad review that I gave it, which I will now edit... but I still don't like it. The thing is, from everything I hear, I should love it. I really do not like WoW, I came into this genre with M59 and have played pretty much everything since, and i love old school, turn based RPG's... but I just can't seem to get a feel for Atlantica.
I love RoM and Requiem, and find both to be far more entertaining. But I am going to edit my bad rating here because I really can't blame the game... it is what it is... some will love it, some will not like it, and that is ok. For me, I must just not "get it" or something.

By "Old School, turn based" I am referring to things like table top D&D, SSI's Gold Box games, Might and Magic Series, Wizardry, etc...
I'm going to continue to poke around a bit with Atlantica.... why? I am not sure really... I feel like I must be missing something.

Your original question is it worth downloading?
If your a casual gamer or a rich person in real life +> yes
If your a serious gamer or have lots of time on your hands and wish to create a toon of great standing +> No
This is not a free to play game no Korean +> Micro Payment => Cash Shop Game is
Free to play is free to play Cash shop is not free to play
If you want to keep your toon on a competitive level with people at top end of the scale you will have to spend serious real life money in the cash shop because of the stamina system in this game no life online playing is not possible so no cash shop no top end toon.
The game is soley aimed at maximising money for the provider the stamina system is a money making tool not a game experience tool.
If the game was monthly fee no cash shop or free to play no cash shop I would say super idea stamina but then I would say this is a casual gamer game.
Its not a casual gamer game if you spend mega in cash shop as the stamina penalty can be overcome by paying real world money so either read this with an open mind or call me a hater but Its not like I dont know what I am talking about.

Just curious but did you experience a lot of the 'unable to compete' with cash players yourself or are you going on other sources for your opinion.
While turn based, the combat probably owes more to Ogre Battle than any old school PC game.
Still, I do think it works essentially the same as some of the old school PC Games (iike Wizardry or Bard's Tale, not the Gold Box games), but this is more visual and you have more control over it.
In those, your characters were in formation, but the formation was just a list (1,2,3,4,5,6, etc). In this, they are still in formation, just shown graphically. But the row they are in still matters. In Bard's Tale (didn't have Wizardry for the C-64, so I never played it) you wanted your melee guys up front, just like this, and your magic guys in back, so they wouldn't get hit as much.

oh yeah... i think you just have to get a good link... ^^ it took me 4 hrs when i downloaded it.
The game is designed to work very well as cheap to develop "free" to play game. It works extremly well for what it is. It is as free as you get for a commercial game. It is made as much fun as possible given the design and budget.
If you want to play it for a long time and be competitive, it will cost money. More money than P2P. Someone has to pay the devs eventually and cover the free users too. But it is damn free in all ways you can expect it being free if you want it free.
Is it worth the overnight download (given your connection)? Well, if any F2P MMO is, this one is it. But if you have to ask, stick to flash. Actually, Dofus is ultra fast to download turn based free to try MMO, that is the only one that i can fathom would download faster and be worth anything.

The game is worth the download time. Try to download the client at the ndoors site. I download the game using just firefox (the download doesnt work when i use orbit to download it). I just left my pc open to download the game overnight.
