i think the problem is that devs are releasing sub par mmos that hardly anybody wants to play, and they all look like clones of eachother. If they spent more time developing a proper MMO and tried to make it unique and different everybody would have an option of a decent game.
Just tried it and was one of the worst f2p mmorpgs I ever played is like omg wtf!
everything in mmo has been done lol ,theres nothing to make new
and imersive 3 d world i mean real 3d no a screen but like a elmet that imerse you in a game isnt out yet
would probably be a lagfest or blur so much you d stop playing in one hour lol
yeah the first 10 quests are the same. it seems like in the MMO world you're left with no choice BUT to play mainstream titles.
I played SUN for about 20min then uninstalled lol. The only thing I even found half enjoyable were it's graphics, but if you're after more than just eye-candy you would be better off making burnt toast.
I disagree..
I played for the first time today. Yes it is a MMO like all other MMOs but all MMOs are the same right now generally. They are all teh same game but with a different skin. Some offer unique features and some don't etc... Anyways I found this game quite fun today. I got up to lvl 17. i enjoy the stat reset button u get up till level 40. My only problem with the game so far is that there is no gender selection on making character. This is only a minor problem because in most single player rpgs you don't get to do that either. The game is a pretty game, I am impressed with the graphics and also happy that I found a game I can use a spear in. I haven't played a MMO since FFXI that I could use a spear. I have pretty much remade my FFXI character in this game, which may be why I like it so much. It does have go kill X amount of creature quest but no more than other games I have played. A lot less than perfect world. Right now I am playing DDO, RoM, Spellborn and SUN. I play each one for a different reason. I play DDO because well its free and its D&D and my older bro and his wife play, I play RoM because its free and a poor man's WoW and I am quite poor right now. I started to play spellborn but it gives me bad FPS at random no matter my graphics settings and even Acclaim has told me that it shouldn't and they are looking into it, but I play that for the unique feel to it. I also play it for the twitch combat that DDO shares with it. I started to play SUN today because I was bored and I am always up for trying to find something new to play. I had very low expectations. I expected it to be a WoW clone, or really laggy, and a big "asian" grinder that I would delete after 10 minutes like I do most games I try. I was surprised that when I got up from the computer my wife was home from work and I had gotten level 17 during my baby's two hour nap. I do wish the game had a more involved story but thats alright it is still fun.
God Bless,
Dustin

On Webzen it's coming out in few days, so i can also finnaly try it out, but anyways webzen is much better than ijji, so i would roll over webzen even if i would had already played on ijji.
yeah finally come to webzen, I will try because it does not look like such a bad game:)
it isn't too bad
yeah VR has been around for quite sometime, i had chance to play with it at Chicagocon in the late ninetys. . As soon as they figure out how to make it cheap enough for people to own you will start seeing it. Its the future i believe, but still a long way off.
The webzen version, while called "global", will actually only be available in places that they haven't already contracted to host the game.
I.E people in the US, Mexico, UK, Canada, China etc will be IP blocked, since they already have "their" version.
Doesn't look like Silkroad in the least...
Not grindy either. Got to ~37 in a few days just doing normal quests and instances. Not a large variety of content, but what is there is fun for a once through.
I played the webzen beta few days ago. I think the graphics is cool and it was fun and easy to play. Got almost to level 15.
I noticed that one of the maps was used both as instance and persistent. Is there much reuse of maps ? and how annoying is that ?
I have heard from those playing asian version that there is a lot of grind in game. I wonder if they have removed some of the grind in the western version or if no one have played enough of western version to see the grind yet.
Could you guys who hated it elaborate a little? if I was to say "hey I bought sun today" I would want you to say "OMG you crazy?!?!?, Horrible game. Here's why..."
Because otherwise people have no idea as to what is so bad about it. It could be that what you find bad others might enjoy. And since I am not exactly clear on how this game plays out (as there are supposed to be user tweaked maps or some such thing? Something about the player picking the map they play on) and would like to know more.

Who made this thread is stupid and hasn't played SUN cause if he did, he won't say grindfest cause you get to lvl by just questing.. try the game before complaining pls, you make yourself so stupid..

yea it is an awesome game, screwed up my first character majorly though lol
Agree game is good for f2p, btw nearly everyone screwed it up first time , but hey u have 5times to reset skill points till lvl 40, but if u screw it up @ over 40 u'll have to pay real cash i guess.
Yea I wasted my 5 skill resets I have 1 more and I plan to use it at 39, I also thought I would be able ot get my dragon form by then as well but it looks like that quest is harder than I thought especially since my skills are all lame until i do the reset but I don't want to screw it up for when I get my dragon form, I am following the guide for draconic DK on the main forums on the game's website. So last night I made an agi/off valk

I have to agree with another guy here that said you re looking stupid when you write such things without even know about the game.
First of all it's THE MOST NON-GRIND game ever. You CAN'T level by grinding and you DON'T NEED too, because you lvl with quests.
Currently the game is in a beta and it doesnt have much content yet, and the max lvl is 70 right now, although after 60-61 you don't have anymore quests.
This games rocks, it has long, big dungeons with great atmhosphere, great graphics, nice looking mobs especially bosses, nice equipment, a ton of skills etc.
Can't wait for the update
Yup no grind what so ever. The item shop don't have to be use as well, its all up to you. Starting to get hard as hell right now, now that i am level 52 and harder to group, cost a lot of helm "gold" to +gear now so...yeah SUN is bringing the heat at 50+
Game has 0 world pvp, the penalties make it basically unplayable for 20 hours per person you kill outside of the designated pvp areas. Lag is bad, classes are horribly unbalanced when it comes to pvp, and the UI is pretty crappy. If you can get past those flaws the party mechanic and dungeons are pretty fun for a while, but certainly can get repetitive. Another plus is the feeling of actually being strong. My class has felt like a one woman killing machine throughout the whole game. (I'm an ether mage) Leveling is very quick, by far the fastest leveling Asian mmo I have ever played.
This is certainly not for people into freedom or exploration. You are on super rails in this game.
Don't forget about the reward system in the AC menu, that is something to work on for sure. and yeah... the dam casters just blow there way out of anything, kill very fast, it is insane to see with my slow bazerker. The open world in this game has no pvp truth. It is PK that equal to murder and killers get punish harshly as a reward, it is your own choice.
I said it before, these are businesses, they are not your rich guy with a dream to create a great game. Those days of basement dwellers and garage technicians are gone,it is all business now.
You want something different or creative then look to Square Enix, they do things a little different.Cut Schilling is that rich guy with a dream of designing his own game, but he unfortunately was a WOW/EQ player if i'm not mistaken so you can probably expect more of the same.
You need to realize that gaming in Korea was all MU online for many years. They were very slow moving on change.I think they feel satisfied they have upped the graphics,so don't expect much change for another few years.
I like the looks of TERA online ,it looks like they are trying to create some creative combat, but i do not for a minute expect any other content outside of the combat system.Hey give them time they are sloooooooooooooooow, another 10 years they may be on top of the world with games everyone wants to play.
BTW ,forgot to ask because i can't be bothered to try SUN,do they have any working doors ?? lol or is it still static buildings with NPC's standing in front of them?
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
LOL, Yes there are doors you must interact with to open them, there are traps as well as trap doors you must interact with to move on. SUN is good not great but just good, it is quest driven to the fullest no grind!!. The best asian MMO out but have not made shine yet in scores here. New update on the way with new class levels and skills + content to help you all the way to level 120, max level as of now is 70, content stops around level 58-59 so from there you must repeat "NOT GRIND" just repeat boss missions to lvl 70.
Need to try it before saying it's not a grind, ether saga is quest based also and dungeons mobs give crap exp so it's not worth fighting them unless you have quests. The more you leveled the longer it took you to level (of course but wait for what I'm gonna say)
There were events weekly to boost you exp and dailies which is something that I liked (apart of invasion event that starts at 1 am at my time and ends at 2 am) but once I reached my 40s in the game events always give you less exp after every level till a certain point that is useless doing them anymore (getting 3% exp from an event it's not worth it imo)
So my only way on leveling was getting quests and do them (there's a hell lot of quests) many kill 50 of x mob there were even higher ones I think and when you went to finish quest you would get like 5% of exp and to add to it mobs exp suck.
So I got bored trying to level and eventually stopped playing it.
