This game . . . is pretty good.
Im no fan of asian grinders, luckly this is not one of them, or maybe it is but the combat works in such a way that grinding ais not so bad.
Lets see cool thisn about this game at 23 so far.
1) atm there is my main character who could have been like 7 different classes off the bat (4 of which are any good).
2) by level 10 you have 5 mercinary (other personal group members) options to pick from. Two range classes; the gunner (colum attack) and archer (single big attack), two melee classes; the swordsman (tank single target strong), spearman (2 person colum attack), and at 10 you get access to a shaman which is a healer.
3) As you quest you get items that let you get more rare/limited mercs, such as one boss quest (which is super hard) give you a item that allows you to have a viking merc as long as you are 20. Anotehr quest which also requires you to kill hard boss gives you a monk merc which is so amazing at buffing your main character makign the likelyhood at death greatly decrease.
4) the combination of 1, 2 , and 3 allow you to make up your own group very early on. Character and in battle is very much like ogre battle but you can control your characters.
For an example i choose a axe main as i read they own (still archer or staff still seem more apealing to me), however i put two spearmen side by side of me in the front row and in the very back row i put my shaman, gunner and monk (this protect these guys from most attacks and many 2 person colum attacks). I like this group alot for the reason that im always hitting more than one mob (due to this bosses kicked my butt before i got upgraded classes). But I chew through most packs quickly becuase of the aoe and strong damage. Still i could have picked up a main archer a swordsman or two and ahaman and a few more archers. and just concentrated all fire on the bosses and took them down. Or focused on later game with aoe casters and a staff main. Overall, there are alot of options to choose from and i am currently wondering swordsman for better fornt line tanking or another gunner for even more aoes.
5) equip-me-alot: I love the equiping you equip each toon just liek in more rpgs. However you have the option to combine two of the same weapon to make it a +1 and two +1 to amke a +2 and so on. This sounds a bit troubl;e some but while fighting you get box that will give you radom equipment BASED ON WHAT YOU HAVE IN YOUR GROUP. So you have archers and shamans all you get is equipment for those 2 classes, if you have swordsmasters also you get equip for them also etc. Smae will spell/skill books which upgrade your abilities.
I spend alot of time doing this and its fun becuase heck you just used 20 of these boxes and totaly rehauled your groups equipment.
6) Thios game is super group friendly , group group group.
7) when your mercs get a certian level 20 40 etc you can upgrade them 100k (in items , no worries not hard to farm the items themself) Upgraded mercs in some cases just hit a tiny bit harder liek my spearmen who are not just slightly strong spearmen (very last and super high level upgrade makes his special ability attack a full colum and not just 2 people back so... its cool). However, in the case of my shaman she now heals a row of my people and not just one person with her heal (just like class advancement in ogre battle folks, ps upgrade her first, this plus a monk make you kill bosses so much easier). This is very cool and i likes it.
Ok now the bad parts about this game.
1) you have 100 limited fights a day , after this its poitnless. (grouping offsets this)
2) While im still low in a game with 120 levels i can tell there are not enough merc classes and not enough difference between their upgrade levels. The dev.s should address this, becuase with double the classes this game could be soild gold.
3) item malls, i think enough said youll get at lvl 20 a scroll that give 7 days of teleport etc. i believe after that u gots to pay for it , maybe there are more of these via quest later, however, at one poitn your goign to have to pay.
4) people are a bit anti social.
5) dam asian gold farmers AND BOTS everywhere. (come on the gms should nerf the junk out of these people).
6) skills (professions) are worst than daocs, or any mmos to date my god i pulled 3 teeth out of my head just to dull the pain.
Despite some of its downfalls this game is very good. And you should try it out, i was very very doubtful of it, and wrongfully so. Think ogre battle think ogre battle.
PS super extra tired so many typos, too bad maybe ill fix them tommarow.

Since I'm level 101 in Atlantica Online since last week I can already assure you that the game becomes a classic case of Asian Grinding at it's finest.
I won't deny it,I had a blast playing this awesome game at start, but once your level 96 it completly becomes another game. You'll need a load of bewitching scrolls since everyone doing quests up to that level all solo. Let me give you a scenario : Your in a party with someone that already did a quest that requires the monsters to drop a certain item, well if your partner picks up the mobs you won't receive that quest item you need to actually finish the quest.
Equipement,I'm sorry to say this but you got 2 options 1-Buy gold from farmer site 2- Grind like there is no tomorrow to craft your own equipment. The high end equipement boxes RARELY drop,I went with a party for 15 hours in the frozen Adlivun and we got 2 Frozen equipement boxes (lvl 100).
Also be ready to buy power potions once your 90+ because guild/nation leaders that do high end dongeons will require you to have them otherwise you'll do crap damage.
For the classes, there is enough classes actually, more then enough, what the classes need is abit more damage on their skills and the combo could use a buff up also. Vortex/light slash combo both maxed at 60 does less damage then my swordman lvl 55 flamesword.
At the beginning you'll have a blast playing like i did,but once you get to 90+ especially the quest bracket 96+ you'll see it becomes totally something else. The reason I quit,it all comes down to grinding and don't wonder why the prices for gold on the gold seller sites is cheap,90% of the players are buying them.
Anyways it was fun,i'm moving on to something else, played 2 months and it's enough,I had my fair share of Asian Grind and i'm actually getting sick of it. Have fun!! *Heads back to EVE-Online*
I like Atlantica Online however something is preventing me from playing more then about 20mins at a time.
After about 20mins I go offline get a wierd x0000001313x or something error and have to reboot.
I may have some memory issue, I'm not sure.
I've got 4gigs of ram but it only reads as 3.25. I'm too lazy to check it out. (looks like i have something to do this weekend besides play! lol)
Anyway I'd play it a heckova lot more if it weren't for this problem.
Atlantica Onlines website and forums don't seem to have any information regarding this.
I need to post on their forums and see what kind of reply I get.
later
RL sucks which is why I play games!

As a level 120 cannon, I have to agree with you on most of your points, and some of the posters' points before me. Just somethings I noticed.

After Ocean boxes, I think (might be Rakshasa also), you get a random equipment not based on your formation.
"3) item malls, i think enough said youll get at lvl 20 a scroll that give 7 days of teleport etc. i believe after that u gots to pay for it , maybe there are more of these via quest later, however, at one poitn your goign to have to pay."
After the 7 day warrior package runs out that you get at 20, you do recieve some other liscenses like auto-battle, but not the major one, teleport liscense. However you are able to buy liscences on the market. Most of them are rather cheap. Teleport being the only really expensive one (300-500k per day). I usually only bought a teleport liscense when I'm doing a quest for a mercenary, they tend to have you run in and out of dungeons alot without alot of fighting. Other than that the other liscenses you really gain much benifit from. Health Check liscense might be another good one to get, but I have 3 cannons in my normal formation so I always have Deep Insight to see my enemies' health hehe.
"6) skills (professions) are worst than daocs, or any mmos to date my god i pulled 3 teeth out of my head just to dull the pain."
This is probably the biggest thing I don't like about this game. Most mercenaries only get 1 skill, while others get 4. And even if they can have 4, it is best that you only max out 2 of them. I wish, at least, main characters would get more than just 4 skills. It's not really that big of a deal since you have 8 mercenaries with skills of thier own.
Another thing about the lack of classes. There are still alot of areas that aren't opened up yet. Also I've been watching some of the Korean videos and they show at least 4 different classes that I haven't seen in the american version. One of which seems to be a compliment to the Lady Knight. Best way to describe it is a White Knight. Also, I believe they will be adding what I call "Hero" upgrades to the classes, much like Archer and Viking have now.
The error you are getting is probably an issue with your system. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the latest versions of your sound and video drivers.
You are only seeing 3.25gb of RAM because you are using a 32bit operating system. You need to have a 64bit OS to see all of 4+ gb of RAM.
you don't have 100 limiteds fights... you have 100 stamina points at start.... you can get more 5 with share info, more 5 with give gifts to begginers, +3 each win on free league, +1 for every 10 mins with no battles...
ppl are a bit anti social.... i don't got this problem.... i like the community and ppls on this game.
you can get licenses by hunting treasures(Int/adv(i think)) you can bought on market too... some quests give teleport license/auto-battle and etc... and some events give it too, i got more than 20 days of teleport license on Thebes without buy it (Events~quests)... but i stop to play on this.
This game will have more classes and quests and places.... you just need wait, the next will be Rainmaker based on "Pocahontas" more about the new merc :
aop.muwing.com/mercenary/rainmaker
I realy like the craft-system (Skills) you have lots of options and can learn all... i like the option of teach and learn with players... it just need be a little revised by devs... some crafts are a waste of money.
The real problems of this game is : Balance of some mercs, you can win millions betting on arena , without any effort, whereas you usually lose your money crafting or get millions on pvp (WK). strange and frustrating. And the bots/gold sellers.

Ah, that explains why I kept getting gifts.
I started playing again (was in CB2) after getting burned out (again) by Sword of the New World/Granado Espada. And last night I think I got 5 different gifts from people.
I had had that happen before once in a game (LOTRO), but was amazed to see so much of it here. Now I learn they have an ulterior motive. Which doesn't surprise me, but does sadden me.
