It will probably be for upcoming titles.

I hardly doubt Turbine is just as stupid as John Smedly from SOE and slap Cash Shops / Item Malls on top of their existing P2P MMO games.

But then again... if they are and they do this... well then it's my defenitive exit from MMO's.

I hate and despise F2P MMO's with their item malls... and if all current and new P2P MMO's are going to be equiped with Item Malls as well... then I don't want to be part of it anymore.

So let's pray Turbine isn't that stupid and ignorant.

    Cheers

If it puts money in the bank or share holders it will be done.

    It's not that easy.

LOTRO has a pretty mature playerbase. Hence all their MMO's do (AC, DDO, LOTRO).

Especially when it comes to LOTRO they have many many loyal fans who paid for lifetime sub.

If they suddenly going to make the game F2P with Item Mall or even P2P with Item Mall...

you can bet on it that it will be the end of LOTRO. The outrage with NGE of SWG will be a complete laugh compaired to the outrage it will create with LOTRO.

LOTRO is doing more then fine right now and has healthy subscription numbers.

The Mines of Moria expansion has been praised all over the internet as THE best MMO expansion ever and it is.

Lot of people returned and plenty of new people started playing again. (Altho I had hoped Codemasters would have actually advertised the expansion here in Europe like they did with the original game)

So all in all... LOTRO doesn't need an Item Mall ...hence it will kill the game.

    Cheers

There is a thread for this all ready, read my comments there.

Rumor is they are planning on having an RMT model for the Asian release of LotRO, but have no plans for the NA or Euro version where RMT models aren't that popular...yet.  Spending real money (and sometimes LOTS of it) on fake 1s and 0s is hugely popular in Asia.

I honest would not mind seeing it for cosmetic clothing or household decoration items as long as there was a alternative to get the same items from random drops. But like the above poster stated I doubt we will ever see that on the N American or European servers. Westerners just really don't go for that type thing as SOE found out.

    I miss DAoC
