SLI memory - not ready
So i just put together my new build. booted the rig up, and looked into the bios to set some stuff up. at the button of the screen it stated that SLI memory not ready. So I'm not sure if my SLI configuration is working, or if it has something to do with my memory, or what? both video cards are running, so whats up with this situation, and how can i resolve this issue?
I've got the EVGA 780i motherboard
2 EVGA 9600 cards
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) (the ram was a recommended with the motherboard on newegg, and gave a deal)
theres no motherboard beeps, or codes on the little two digit display on the motherboard other than the boot code it gives.
I was going to load up windows xp on it, until my CD-ROM drive doesn't opened and i remember putting the broken one in, so I've got to swap that out. When I do swap out the CD-ROM drive should I install windows before I resolve this problem?

You ususally have to set it as SLI MEMORY in the BIOS...I have the 780 myself, there's an option under the page with FSB and stuff..
Its in the BIOS? becuase i was looking at something with VGA and i toggled it, but no difference. Got a little more detail in where I am suppose to go?

brand/model of motherboard?
I'm at work, not in front of my computer, but when you go into the BIOS, it's on the left hand side. Start at the top and check them all. 1 is basic stuff, HD's and floppy, The second is some computer settings, boot order and stuff. I think it's the third. System/FSB/Memory/System Voltages........under the Clocking/FSB/memory stuff is an option to use SLI memory. THIS IS NOT FOR YOUR VIDEO CARD it's for the 4GB of RAM. There are options to link, unlink, use SLI etc. If you use the SLI is gives you options to OC the memory. I dont use it, I just run at the speed of my bus which is 1066....

Tha actual memory must be certified as SLi ready for that option to be available in BIOS. Don't worry too much if it isn't though as the SLi ready tag in BIOS is really only for memory overclocking, your SLi setup will function just fine with standard DIMMS.
Okay that over-simplifies it a bit but trust me, as long as your DIMMS are of a decent quality they will work fine even if not certified for SLi
Yep, you're right. I installed windows, then all the motherboard and graphics drivers and my Sli works properlly now. The BIOS still says that Sli memory - not ready, but its just the memory. Oh well.. I ran most of the video games that lagged and had to run on low setting on this new rig and its sweeeet as hell on high settings.
