Its pretty interesting. Some days you get ten kills, some days you get none. It makes you mad easily, thats the only problem. Joystick is almost a must, and also a head set. The community is decent, alot like helping new players. The only problem is, the population isn't amazinly high, so you will be playing with the same people alot of the time.

You should give it a try. It is a niche game so the total pop varies, but even WoW is no more than 2k on the an entire cluster and you only see a few. WW2OL will allow you to view up to 128 per direction, the view distance is about 4k for infantry and more for tanks and ac. No walking 3 steps and see mountains appear ala wow:-). It has a steep learning curve and everyone should join a squad as soon as they log. Squads are newbie freindly, everyone wants every player to stay and ppl go out of their way to help new guys since this game is the most demanding war game on the net. May be one reason why it is a niche game..lol. You will die a lot but that first kill will get a big Woot from you and a big WTG from everyone with you.  JS is almost mandatory for flying, but KB Mouse has been beefed up in 1.29 and works well for infantry and tanking. Most everyone is on TS but chat text is always busy with info about any battle and there are some amazing battles. It can take up to 3 months for one side to win a map or as little as a week. Command can screw up or make brillant moves. IF you play allies the Black Knight Brigade will be happy to show you the ropes and when you feell comy you can always move on, no ill feelings.

As for population ...wow is 2k per server...standlaone are 32 per computer..ww2ol beats that. Mechanics are designed to bring folks together for a kill and stomp, meet and greet

    Hmm... your wrong.

4K is not the vis distance in game.... you can SEE terrain at 4K.. but you cant see vehicles till 2.5km, infantry till 1.25km.     This was before 1.29.    Now I think its tapped out at 3km for vehicls and still 1.25km for infantry.    But its not like you can kill them at that distance because the  High Explosive round is still useless.     Most of the text chat is filled up with people whinning about how a Tiger shouldnt or should do this.   Or how the HC (High Command) is a idiot or stupid....      And this is just the Axis side...

But its a shame that only about 20k people world wide play this game...  and half those are peoples second accounts.      So at most you will see maybe 1000 people ONLINE during peak hours on long weekends.    Most of the time the player numbers are down in the lower hundreds.    And most battles are really over glorified skirmishes between a dozen and two dozen players repeatedly spawning and dieing over and over again to make it seem like a hundred players in the fight.      Its not the game it used to be.

So much crap, so little quality.

you should give it a try, its a great game, i log in every day and constant 24/7 i can find a decent attack / defend order.

Its wery posible to play the game without joystick, i play it without with the keyboard tanks / AA / ATG, but planes is inposible without...

the graffic its not wery upto date but the gameplay and the abilityes to look far into the horising beats the mid graffic.

give it a try, i played in since 2005 and still playing it and enjoying it...

     Give it a go.

It will take you a looong time to master this game, trust me. But on the other hand, once you really figure it out and manage to find a nice squad/guild that you can fight with, this will be one of the best games you have ever played.

Sure, the graphics suck, but when it comes to depth this game is bar none. Overall the best MMO i have ever played.
