Anyone here change their mind about what class they wanted to play before the stress test? I wanted to play rogue but after playing a warrior and having both lvl 14 and pvping I can honestly say Warrior > Rogue in pvp. Charge and Hamstring are just awesome against people who try to "Kite" or run away from you damn pansy horde always trying to gang noobs but run when they get evenly matched =P. I had trouble catching people who ran away from me with my rogue. Sprint has a hella long cool down and gouge can only be used if the person is facing you (doesnt help if you see his backside running from you). I know there are poisons to slow down the person but wont help if you cant get close to him to get the poison to proc now is it? =P I will be playing a warrior instead of a rogue in open/retail.
I took down a lvl 15 mage with my warrior when I was lvl 11 and he used polymorph AND frost nova and I still won cuz he couldnt run away from me after they wore off. Rogues are good IF you can catch up to the guy but you wont be doing so if he just keeps running and doesnt wanna fight.... Pvped a lvl 16 rogue at the same lvl (lvl 11) and I got him down to half life before he killed me. Not bad considering the lvl diffference.
So are you gonna play the class you thought you were gonna play in retail you had in your mind before the stress test?

Still sticking to an Undead Warlock here. It's a little rough around the edges and doesn't work so well in PvP, but I enjoyed it over every other class. (suprisingly I played rogue and really liked that as well) Even soloeing with the class is really alot of fun, especially when your pets start getting more abilities. Also around 18 (I reached 21 and 3/4) parties really began to like me and my rez stones. A little bit later the teleporting spell was pretty cool too. All in all I really enjoyed the class and am going to stick to it till retail.

Most definately.
I was lvl 20 warrior at end and i could beat lvl 23-25 hunters no probs . they get one shot in on me, id charge and hamstring then that was it Gameover for them :P.
Beta Tested: Lineage 2, Ryzom, City of Heroes, RYL, EverQuest 2 World Of Warcraft European
Truly Loved: World of Warcraft
My first choice and final choice Night Elf Priest...love the healer clas, like backing people up.
Before the test I was going to be a Troll Hunter, now after the test I can't decide if i'm going to be a Night Elf Warrior
...Can anyone guess what I am about to say? Troll Rogue all the way, baby. It was the only thing I played in the stress test, so I didn't have any chance to fall in love with another character. If I feel like I ever need a break from the Horde, the Rogue, or the Troll, I am going to make Dwarven Paladin, maybe.
If I do change from here to Open, it would probably be going with another race for Rogue. I don't know, but I like the play style of the Rogue. Eventually, I will make every race and every class. After I make a Paladin, I will make some sort of Caster. Perhaps a Shaman.
Go Horde, Alliance, Horde, then a Hunter for the Alliance, then a Warrior for the Horde. That is all I have for now. But I am still definately going to be a Troll Rogue.
I played several classes, priest, paladin, warrior, rogue, mage, warlock. I was going to play a warlock at release but they are, in my opinion, very weak in PvP. I got my rogue to 22 and couldnt be happier with him. He was an undead rogue and what I will be playing come release.
Btw, Rogue < warrior
I don't know what rogues you fought, but the only class I lost to alot were paladins(and alot for me was losing 5-6 times out of 10 fights). At lvl 19 I took on a 23 dwarf hunter and 19 dwarf rogue at the same time and beat the piss out of them both. Evasion= Ownage. Can't touch me with that up. Of course, you don't often fight someone of your same lvl, and hardly solo.
Rogues are the mages of melee classes. My only "guff" with the class is stealth. If someone is 2 lvls higher then you, they can see you from a mile away. I hate that. I don't think I have lost more then 30% of my fights with any other class except the paladin.
In this game, warriors take the dmg, but dont dish it out. Not like rogues do.
Edit: btw if your going rogue, go undead. They get some great racial abilities. Although your vulnerable to be mezzed by priests. I think some other classes get bonuses to undead but cant remember right now. Still wouldnt trade it off.
I played a mage but they are very aggravating for PvP. 2 hits and your dead, when you try to cast a spell it will get inturrupted, dodged, or resisted.
I hear good things about the warrior for PvP though, i think i will be one. I'm just curious...
Does the races matter very much? I have been thinking about making a tauren warrior but i don't know if i choose a different race for a warrior that it will be better or not.

The first, and only class I have tried is the Paladin, and I fully intend to play that class in retail.

Played: Asheron's Call 1, Dark Age of Camelot, Earth & Beyond, Star Wars Galaxies
Tested: Asheron's Call 1, Asheron's Call 2, Dark Age of Camelot, Eve Online, Lineage 2, Risk Your Life, Saga of Ryzom, World of Warcraft
Uninstalled ASAP: MU Online, Knight Online, Rubies of Eventide, Priston Tales, Star Sonata, DarkSpace
As a starting race, the Tauren are the best Warriors. They have the highest Stamina and the highest Strength making them the best warriors as starters.

Yeah the Tauren Warrior is awesome. I made one before the server went down and i really enjoyed him. If they are good for PvP, then that is most likely what i will be at release.

Well I played a NE warrior and had fun with, so I will play that in retail..... But looking at playing a NE hunter also. Just because of how I will select my trade skills. I think a Hunter on the RPing side would make a better skinner/leatherworking combo. This was the combo I started with on my warrior. Then I started to play with the other skills just to see what they were like. Not sure which other classes I will play mabye a Human pally.

Rogues > Warrors
I was one, I know. I owned a ton of people.
Stealth gets faster with higher ranks, stealth skill gets fast.
As a rouge if someone would run from me I shot them with a bow, some times they out ran me.
Rogues can use posion. i hope we can apply it to our bows to slow down our victims.
my dash skill was asome, i could catch any one.. but wtf up with a 5 min cool down. =(
they need to reduce that.
I hate it how if someone was higher then me they could see me from a mile away. that was bs.
I managed to kill a ton of people as a Rogue, I became smarter and started to use little blend tricks. because wow has no raider. if they cant see you its better then just in stealth mode.
example sit down behind some trees, you dont move much when you are sitting and sway like you do when your in combat. sit still and dont move, hide in bushes. wait for your victim them ambush them. Can d0 100+ dmg first hit. at 19 I hit a few 15 levels for over 200, even one shoted a few poeple.

Well, I played a Dwarf hunter and actually liked it! I kinda like the fact that most people that play hunter do not like the class because it made my dwarf stand out more. I got to lvl 22, my first and only pet, a boar from the brownie camp area, lvled from 8 to 22 also. I had a great experience with my hunter, I was able to solo easily and in groups I was usually the puller. My boar, also help out quite a bit too and not just PvE, but in PvP. Example. I was traveling back to Stormwind to meet a friend, on the way I spotted 2 lvl 15 Orcish Horde Warriors . I could tell they where talking by their body movements (probably planing to do no good) but couldn't understand a word. Well, I was lvl 16 and Jabba, my boar was lvl 15 and we both decided that those two must die. I told Jabba to stay put and I circled around the two orcs until I reached a hill with several trees. Then, I sent Jabba into attack. It was kinda funny because there where other boars around they was a bit confused why this one suddenly attacked them. Once they figured it was Jabba thats when I step up, fired 4 different shots, sent Jabba back to his stay spot and I hid again. After that first encounter the 1st Orc only had 1/4 life left. I ran as fast as i could to another spot and then sent Jabba in again. The Orc healed to about half life before I attacked and killed him. I repeated the processes over and over until I finally killed the second one. The best part about it, they never saw me once, all they say was Jabba, hahaha!
Oh, the second best part is, once I can train pets to do different attacks and skills, the hunter will probably be one of the deadliest PvP character, if played correctly.
Yes, I wanted to play a dwarf hunter. I did not during the stress test though. I played a dwarf warrior. I thought I would miss it less.
I do plan on playing more than one character though. I will have one night elf though no idea the class. I will play a dwarf with a warrior and hunter. I will be play a Tauren though I don't know what class. I will play a gnome mage. I think will have human paladin.
I do know that I won't play a Warlock. That is just me and my slight roleplaying. I don't know alot about the classes. I did have fun with warrior though. I did no PvP though. I had no desire to do that.
im going to my original plan undead rogue .. i can always make the other characters but i really wann have an undead ninja beating the **** out of people is appealing ...
1,2 buckle my shoe 3,4 knock on the door 5,6 pick up sticks
7,8 GO AND SKATE !
without life we'd be dead.
Well after playing my first love.. the mage.. i dunno i got my mage to 21 and decided not to burn myself out on one class so i started another undead character the rogue.. and i gotta say he was a ton of fun..
as for the rogue > warriors i dunno never pvp'd with my rogue.. I did a lot of pvp with my mage and yeah.. warriors charge hamstring owned me.. Charge and hamstring combo with warrior is a bit overpowered.. Blizzard will likely nerf it down a bit.. There is still a lot of class balance issues to be addressed in the game.
Evasion is useless vs a warrior..... we get an ability called overpower thats an instant cast ability that automaticly hits weapon dmg + 5 (probabaly more at higher lvls) after the enemy dodges and the ability cant be blocked dodged or parried. THATS how I beat rogues. Rogues arent supposed to beat warriors rogues are caster killers. If they could beat warriors thier lvl then no one would play warriors.
FYI... never ever ever try to fight someone with ?? as their lvl... I tried to take on a ?? Orc Hunter and he WTF pwned me with his serpent sting. Dang thing ticked 42 dmg every 3 secs O_O
I played rogue and loved it and I thought i played it really well. I got it to level 12 and then stopped leveling and just pvp'd. And Rogues> everything.
I won so many battles it was awesome. I had some really sweet strategies for pvp. A rogue's only problem is that they cannot fight more than 1 person at a time and have no AoE type things, so it is better to get people that stray away from their group. I took on a lot of higher leveled people than me and my highlight was beating a ?? level mage in 1 on 1 pvp. I started the duel with a stealthed backstab yes and i used evasion yes and i used all my best skills and my high damage strategy and yes i was on the verge of death when i won, but i WON! We had dueling competitions in auberdine and i won like all but 7 out of 40 or so duels all against people my level or higher. And 3 of those losses were to this hunter that was just amazing and was so skilled, and 4 levels higher than me, but i was taking other hunters then that were 5 or 6 levels higher than me. And i never lost to anyone twice except for that hunter, because i the ones i lost had sweet strategies but i worked out ways to beat those strategies and took it to em the next time.
But enough bragging
Stealth rocks the sole purpose of it for me was to make it so they couldn't see the big fat name over my head. I got away from so many people that were too tough for me with it. Say i was fighting a 21 shaman outside of crossroads and i obviously had no chance because shamans nukes did surprisingly a lot of damage and so i sprinted away to this mountain a little ways away i rounded the top of the mountain moved a little to the side and layed down against the mountain. The shaman come over the mountain looks ahead and sees nothing runs a little ahed and looks around then goes away. Stealth rocks.
I do always say taste the rainbow but i always sift through my bag o' skittles to get to the white ones.
