Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

What would it take to bring back?

 1) Remove the idea of "Clustering" and just replace it with single servers.  The idea of clustering makes it feel like the game is dying (it is, but dont advertise it!) Servers:

Perc, Classic (All current servers, this server will most likely die with new server ideas)

Gala, (New Server Idea)

Guin,  (New Server Idea)

Mord, PvP (New PvP setup, protected levels, no res effects from PvP)

Gaheris, (Co-Op, Progression Server, All Expansions)

Viking, (Everything, All Content, NF, ToA. . . etc etc. . . blech)

2) Remove all expansions, add them to the Gaheris server and refer to Gaheris as the "Progression Server"

3) Remove the number of people currently logged in.  People usually flock to the most populated realm for more PvP action. This eventually leads to servers with low population.  (EverQuest did this back in the day for just this reason)

4) New Advertisement Campaign!!! For the new servers and design! Call this the most challenging head to head PvP game that exists.  Introduce freaking Arena's if it'll make the duelists happy.

5) Refresh the movement system in DAoC, the strafe/run/jump lag needs to be addressed so the game loosens up a bit.  I've always had this problem in DAoC. Also, remove the /stick  or /face feature.

6) Brand New Server Design! Go back to what made you popular DAoC!!! Keep the new graphics and refresh any old graphics that may still be out there. Make the world feel like a community again rather than tons of PvE content.  Refresh the graphics of old emain - except let it be the only Fronteir.  2 Main keeps for all realms and 1 Relic keep for all Realms.  Each keep can hold 2 Relics.  This will concentrait the fighting to locations instead of spread out crappyness.  Naturally buff all characters to Vampiir statistics and redesign the augmentation/buff lines as temporary buffs that make the group powerfull / yourself powerfull.

7) Fix up Models and Animations. Everything feels so tight and bound in DAoC.  This is probably an engine design that doesn't allow bones or loose characters, so I dont expect it.

8) Create a prettier UI, the UI is old and tight like the character/movement graphics.  Loosen up the gameplay a bit! The UI needs to graphically respond to button pressing and the quest UI is just horrid.

9) Don't you dare think about Gothi travel to Fronteir!

10) Hire a better web developer and use the domain daoc/darkagesofcamelot/darkages.com.  The Camelot Herald is just so poor, it's like the beggers version of a real MMO website. Get a forum designed there!

If all of this doesn't help - sorry you lost so much money doing it. . . It's such a good game idea to be lost.

Gaming is serious business.

I am going to be very honest here for a sec. This is not sarcasm at all, I say this because I have been on a super sarcasm kick all day over in the DFO forums.

DAoC was the best game ever made. It could also still be if they were to take the time to spend some money on it.

You have the right idea though.

This is basically what they need to do to bring DAoC back to the masses and pull in some serious loot.

Keep the classic server but just reinstate the classic RvR zone, the one with Emain and such back in the day making it a true classic server. Much like the Origins Idea. Also do away with buff bots on this server like they do now on classic. That is server 1.

Server 2, all xpack enabled server. Shroaded, DF, ToA, Catacombs and Labby. The works. Merge every single non classic server into this one non classic server.

Server 3, Rebuild Mordred from the ground up. They do not need level restrictions per say, just protect leveling zones. For example make punishment harsher for gankers. If you get ganked by a player 10 levels higher than you they get black listed in all major cities and town and make guards strong enough and fast enough to pummel the shit out of them. This would make players think twice before making the lil guy's life hell. They can't repair, they can't buy and they can't do anything but hide in the woods. Make it for like 72 hours. That would do the trick. Many things you can do to fix PvP server.

    Server 4, Co-OP Classic. Like server 1 but Co-op.

Server 5, Co-OP Non- Classic. Like server 2 but Co-op.

They only need 5 servers, and update the graphics engine, and DAoC would reign supreme once more.

I will agree with the above, they need to upgrade the graphics a bit and upgrade the way the toons look, etc... but besides that,...   Its a good. Leave RVR, Combat, etc alone..

As one said already, spend some moeny on it.. I still feel DAOC is better than WAR.

    Been there done that:
    Asherons Call,SWG,AOC,D&D,COH,Anarchy Online,DAOC,EVE,Guild Wars,LOTRO,POTBS,WAR,WW2, and Rift

If they gave Origins, did away with all the WoW-like questing shit, and more people began to play because of it, it'd pretty much be back imo.

It's pretty funny that in order to get more players to play the game, they need to make a server that reverts everything to back as it was in like 2003, aside from graphics.

Though yes, it'll obviously be updated a bit.

Clustering HURT RVR, for me. A terrible idea for a PVP/RVR focused game.

They should definately get rid of the clustering, it's also a PAIN hopping between all the clustered servers when viewing the market. :s

They merged everything they could.  The main zones are now one zone, the rvr zone as well.  Everything that was static, that didn't change they merged into one.  The reason they can't cluster the housing area is because there was more people on the servers then there were lots for houses.  They'd have to make the people take their houses off the lots, then merge the zone and it would be a mad dash for pepole to find their lots again and I'm sure there would be arguments and disputes.  Just a lot of headaches that they weren't willing to deal with.  Sure it puts a hamper on buying stuff but it's the only way to do it.

No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-

This is a good idea. There is enough there for everyone while keeping the co-op (which was fun the few times I did play on it). That solves the server issues. After that there needs to be a decent advertisement campaign. This is what really killed Asheron's Call 2 in the end I think. You can do all you want in the game but if you don't advertise you won't get players and those you have will leave since there is not enough players to play with. Population is key in a PvP game, especially this game unless you are on the co-op server and even then you need something decent for PvE.

If they could come up with a "Station Access" type account where you can play Dark Age of Camelot and Warhammer Online that would be great. Mythic already allows you to link both accounts you have for the game to their new account management system.
