I am wondering if there are a lot of mining bots in this game. It seems that it would be easy for people to set them up to run then with lots of Barges/Drones. Are there and does it mess with the economy?

possibly but in eve-online your never truly safe so you can never openly "bot" in eve. as if someone becomes wise to you botting, they could not only report you, but they could pod you, and take ya ore. so i dont think there is the traditional botting as there is in other games.

No, I am very much the opposite! I hate farmers/bots! I go out of my way to document their activity and report them! But this is better because it appears that this community polices it's own! That is awesome!

Yes famers arent safe in Eve. There are many pilots that just hunt farmers/bots 23/7 to make their exploting life hell, its fun and they drop really nice loot sometimes

ARrrr?
If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude; greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.

I was mistaken for a mining bot once and lost a covetor in highsec by a group of suicide gankers. Not very nice people, you are.
Especially after I appealed in local that I wasn't botting and I needed funds to re-fit my missioning ship; and was promptly cussed out for being a 'carebear'. Jeezus, it's like it didn't matter whether or not I actually was a bot, I was a target because I was mining in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Bah, rotten luck. I would give you guys my stuff before my sub expires next month and I quit... but I'd rather just let it rust up in the hangar.
First hacker to break into my account can have it.
Seen quite a few in Ice belts , I reported the lot of them - they soon vanished , which was nice.Would have loved to have taken some shots at them though
If bot miners are botting in 1.0 system how can you kill them without having Concord blow up your ship? Massive amounts of tritanium sells quite well in 1.0 systems.
i have seen suicide frigates in 1.0
they know they will be concorded, but have enough skill usually to blow up botters in a few shots before they get vaporized by Concord.
Suicide ganking happens a lot. Especially to miners.
Bots or not, it is profitable. All you gotta do is buy a trash cruiser, outfit it with some blasters and a little faction ammo, then get really close to a miner in a belt and... profit.
It helps if you have a friend nearby to pick up the wreckage. If you're working solo, make a safe spot and put some ship there to warp to in your pod and grab as a quick clean up tool. Although I'm not sure about concord aggro and grabbing that new ship and heading to the scene of the crime again to clean up...
Happened to me three times in different high-sec locations and I noticed this pattern.
Really ticks me off being the victim and all, but I do see the value in doing it. It's good for laughs and maybe making money.
Just don't mix up AFK miners with botters.
...please...
I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.
"You have the right not to be killed"
zemmax, dunno what you're complaining about, after insurance you lost maybe two million?
oh wait, you didnt insure your ship. no sympathy from the playerbase.
I insure my ship, I thought it was a given but I suppose you trolls would assume the worst at any given post.
What isn't insured is the equipment I keep losing. Strip miners aren't cheap to replace constantly.
with your attitude, assuming the worst of you seemed a reasonable proposition.
you got suicided repeatedly for strip miners? you lost negligable amounts of isk and the loot gain after concord vaporised your attacker would in no way be worthwhile for the sec loss and hassle. i think you upset someone and they decided to get even, repeatedly. and you forgot to fit a tank.
No, I haven't personally run into alot of mining bots, and I've played since '06. The pirates and other players tend to disturb you often. As for me, I usually alt-tab sites like these when I'm mining away. Strip miners have long cycles.
