Darkfall is going to do one of three things as the 22nd approaches...
Option 1: We might see the gradual release of "chunks" of information that has yet to be told as we get closer to the 22nd before the game is officially released as planned.
Option 2: Tasos and crew keeps their silence(on purpose to build up the tension and get the most attention) all the way up to the 21st-22nd and then drop EVERYTHING on everyone and release the game on the 22nd.
Option 3: Tasos and crew keep quiet all the way to the 22nd(I suppose they could come clean earlier) where after they announce another delay or just keep their silence some more and don't release the game.
What's your guesses? I think 2 and 3 are the most probable as I believe this silence could be either a "oh crap our game isn't ready" silence, or it could be a little stunt for attention(Tasos wouldn't do that would he?) just to get people riled up.

Darkfall Travelogues!
1 or 2.
--------------------------------------
A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"
Order of the White Border.
To me it seems like they are either bad to communicate what they are doing or just don't care about telling us before the game is done.
It wont affect the game in itself anyways but let's hope they are better to listen than to talk.
If the game will release in time? Who knows. Same thing about how good the game will actually be, it will be an intresting ride anyway. I look forward to see how the game will be but I don't hold my breath.
Darkfall is being horribly mismanaged.
Not to mention, they cannot possibly do the proper load testing without any, well, load testing.
The only reason any company would not release any vital information about their game 2 weeks before release, would be because there is nothing good to say.
They say "vague" things, that sound promising, but quite conspicuously anything specific is missing. I think this hints at major problems.
And i quit mmorpg's over a year ago, waiting for a good game like darkfall ever since, i just think they are screwing around, albeit probably trying their hardest.
Could be a dismal failure.
Although i dont need much content to love games, shadowbane was one of my favourite games ever. If this is any better than that, count me in.
I just cant see how they can pull this out of the bag,I mean 2 weeks to go and no...
NDA drop..ok they dont have to do this.
No open beta announced...again they dont have to do this.
No more info on the game since they announced the release date.
No information were to download the game...well this is pretty important if people are to play it.
I believe there wont be any disks so I cant say they havent announced the game going gold but with little or no info and only 2 weeks till release you would have to be a pretty major die hard fan to believe this game is going to release on time.
If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

Games played:AC1-Darktide'99-2000-AC2-Darktide/dawnsong2003-2005,Lineage2-2005-2006 and now Darkfall-2009.....
In between WoW few months AoC few months and some f2p also all very short few weeks.
My guess is that there looking for a buyer.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
I'm leaning towards 3, with 2 as my most optimistic scenario.
Right now, just over two weeks from launch, very vital information (open beta, stress tests, how and where to buy the game, what it costs, who is handling billing, system specs, pricing models, etc.) still has not been released, and there is no sign from Aventurine that any of that info is forthcoming. That's a HUGE problem. By this point in their development, most games are publicizing their game as much as possible with a flurry of activity and a flood of info for people to read.
Also, the lack of real beta testing outside of a small cluster of friends and family is another problem. MMO's need lots and lots of players to test them, going out into the world, kicking the game tires and seeing what works and what doesn't. Friends and Family stuff is usually done early on, like in alpha testing, and in the first stages of beta. It's not still done two weeks before you launch your game.
I'd like to see Darkfall come out, not because I have any intention of playing it (FFA PvP with full loot isn't my scene), but because I think the MMO genre is large enough to include games of all stripes. More variety is a good thing. However, it's very difficult to really look at Darkfall and see it releasing in two weeks. There are so many things missing that are generally done in MMO development that expecting it to magically appear on the 22nd in any sort of playable state makes no sense, at least IMO.
Option 3, without a doubt.
|Mortal Online|Gnostaria|
my bet is 3.
we aint gona hear shit until the 22nd and then its not going to sound good.
My blog:
Option 1 would be nice..
Option 2 would be crazy! .. Cmon, can you imagine dropping a download link on everyone on launch day thats going to be at least 10GB+ and not have the dl servers grind to a halt, unless they go Torrent route in which case everyone will be going mad at each other for a week waiting for it to finish
Option 3 unfortunately, is looking more and more likely
2 was done by AoC, well at least til OB and even then they were quiet. it worked very well and they had a TON of subscribers.... initially, then the bugs.... oooo the bugs.
If option one happens, the only news will be the new site going live, the stress test going live and the client being available for download. There will be no new info on mechanics. Also, I have been expecting option 2 since October for when the game finally releases (regardless of date, and they will be forced to release at some point).
I doubt that option 3 will happen, merely because what I have seen of leaked stuff would suggest that they could pull off a quick stress test and release even without everything having been thoroughly tested in beta if need be. They have locked in with the publisher, and contrary to popular opinion the plan has always been to have boxed copies in Europe at release. We have even seen pictures of stuff for the box release. Since they would have to go gold between 4 weeks and 2 weeks out, and since so far there is no indication of beta not progressing at a steady rate, there hand will likely be forced.
Note: the pics of the box stuff are from memory. Don't ask me for a source. Just remember that the digital distribution was originally added to accomodate the player-base that would not otherwise be able to join in at the initial release.
