3. If a company has not proven itself to know WTF it is doing, every unusual or unknown decision can be construed as either part of their master plan or yet another example of not knowing WTF it is doing.
4. This is legitimate. Just about every beta leak has been positive. Those who are playing it, like it. As to who is actually playing it and their predispositions, well... who can say about that.
5. A journalist beta has nothing to do with the game being ready for release. I posit, if the game is going to be delayed why not open the journalist beta
1 and 2 are from a developer of the game.. Of course he's not going to say anything the least bit negative about his "baby". I have come to learn, as many others have, that all developers aren't always the most accurate source for impartial information about their game.. Seeing as there is no marketing for DF, everything Tasos says is pretty much the only "marketing" there is.. And marketing/advertising has been known not to be 100% accurate.
3, I have never seen a quote confirming the number of players in Beta, just guestimates from fans. 4 could actually be a negative, becuase the only real "leaks" that are published, were beta quotes chosen by the developers.. #4 could, infact, help prove the fact that the Beta, a few weeks from release, is still extremely small. #5 is still yet to be seen.. 2 days have passed, and no major gaming site/news outlet have said anything about getting a chance to play DF nor run a preview.. Even after your points, I am going to wait until after the release date to see if Darkfall will be worth purchasing or not..

There are quite a few leaks about now, not as many as I would like to see and of course leaks are never proof of anything as you don't know how reliable or biased they are but they exist.
What's your definition of "quite a few"? Is that more than three? four? More than four?
I really hope you are right and it releases fine. Going just on what I have read and the videos I have watched Darkfall Online seems to be the most promising mmorpg I have ever seen. For such a small company to take an extremely ambitious idea and turn it into a reality is simply amazing. Its a breath of fresh air in the genre. Orks ftw!
1.Tasos has stated repeatedly that they would not announce a release date until they were absolutely sure it would be met. They clearly understand the negative effects of a delay. 2. Tasos has also stated that DFO was more complete than many other mmorpg's 1 month after release (and that was in november) 3. Games that have not met their release date in the past have generally announced the release date 6 months to 1 year prior. Aventurine announced the dfo release date within 2 months. When you announce the release of a game in that short amount of time the game must already be completed (or extremely nearly completed). 4. There are relatively very few beta leaks and those that do exist are almost entirely positive. Also there are now over 1000 beta testers according to all the available information. Does any one really believe if the game was not ready or didnt deliver everything that has been promised that we would not know about if? If that were the case we all know there would be negative leaks everywhere. 5. According to mmorpg.it journalist beta started on Monday January 5th. If the game was going to be delayed why open journalist beta? Flame away, call me a fanboy, whatever makes you feel better.
Or how about a , who cares! You people and these over-zealous threads. Is this a way to show the world your bored or blind? Why I say blind you might ask, i don't know, maybe look through the 5k+ other threads trying to be like you. Hey guess what, Aion in April!!!!
well there are actually a lot more anti-df overzealous threads than pro-df.
And WHEN a pro-df overzealous thread comes up, such as this one, it gets ripped to shreds.

The part that gets glossed over though... even from the "mostly positive" beta leaks that we've seen.
They are almost universal in agreement about 1 thing.
LOTS OF FEATURES ARE MISSING... oh wait... "not turned on yet"
They are just now.... just NOW... with 2 weeks until release... putting in some Dungeons?

Well it depends if they have already been thoroughly tested or not. If it's just a matter of flipping a switch and there they are working as intended then it's no big deal. If they haven't been tested then it's a bit late at this stage and they better pray that they work. I would be interested hear what people currently playing have found once these features are switched on, if they are working perfectly or are causing a lot of problems ect. Not long to wait now hopefully and we can find out.

We should find out with some more leaks when/if Dungeons do in fact get "turned on" as they have been telling them.
Still seems an odd way to test a game with only 2 weeks until Release...
"Yup... that Feature is good to go Bob. Shut 'er down until the 22nd."

I don't think it's unusual as a lot of beta's work like this. They swtich things on in stages, if I remember correctly WAR was testing their endgame on the beta servers a couple of weeks before retail still under NDA which didn't lift until release. We don't know how much is switched off, whether things are being switched on and then off again or anything really. I would say it was more unusal to just give the people testing the entire game to play, I don't think this happens very often and wouldn't be a good way to test anyway. The most unusal thing is how close it is to release, maybe this is because they know it all works or maybe not. If things aren't working properly in beta it's because they haven't done a good job in the first place.

Umm... NOT 2 weeks before Release they don't!
WAR's NDA lifted on Aug. 19, 2008 a day short of a full month before it's Release on Sept. 18, 2008
Really, this stuff is easy to find the correct answers to... no need to try and make it up.
Face it. It's never a GOOD think when an MMO has it's NDA locked firmly in place right up to the day of Release. If you know of a GOOD MMO that did... I'd be happy to hear it.
"Players may not talk about nor reprint posts from our forums and our Test Servers (currently Deathsword) are still fully covered by the confidentiality portions of our Beta Testing Agreement. So, other than that, feel free to talk about and share your experiences in WAR. "
Is that the Elder test server? It did specials tests of some sort and had special restrictions for some reason. But if you look back, you too will remember the deluge of information we got on Warhammer once the general NDA was lifted.
But were they not testing parts of the game that were in the release version but nobody else had seen, I might be not remembering properly but I thought it was the city seiges?
"Players may not talk about nor reprint posts from our forums and our Test Servers (currently Deathsword) are still fully covered by the confidentiality portions of our Beta Testing Agreement. So, other than that, feel free to talk about and share your experiences in WAR. " What was this section about then?
Sounds like they didn't want verbatim quotes of the posts used during the Beta.
Perhaps you missed the last sentence:
...feel free to talk about and share your experiences in WAR
Has DarkFall made such a statement a month before Release?

I think you are thinking of AoC.
Age of Conan lifted their NDA on May 1, 2008 the game Release May 20th, 2008
I think even WAR kept their NDA up for too long... but anything less than 1 month is just undeniably trying to hide something.
If you know of a MMO that kept it's NDA in place with only 2 weeks to go... and yet turned out to be a good game... I can't remember it.

I am quite sure that they were still testing T4 and were still under NDA right until release day, everything else was not under NDA anymore. I didn't take part beta but this my recolection, can anyone in the beta confirm it? Xzyax if you were in it you probably know better than I do.

With 2 weeks until release has DarkFall made a statement like I've high-lighted above?
Other than that... I'd say all your other attempts are just red-herrings to try and deflect from that central point.
With only 2 weeks until Release... DarkFall still has it's FULL NDA up.
Show me another decent MMO that has done the same.
One good reason not to play judging by the state of these DF's and the main DF forums is the game seems to be attracting to many Sociopaths now. The dev team are in for an interesting learning curve when they see the level of grief that's going be strike the DF community. Player policing themselves can only go so far.

If you look at this and read the comments I think it confirms what I was saying, that the whole of T4 was still under NDA and still being tested by the proper beta testers (not preorder people).

Yikes, reason #4 is the only one I actually buy.
1. Because Tasos said so
2. Because Tasos said so

5 reasons were given. Your hate blinds you.
Hardly arguments though. Only your interpretation of someone else's words.
Not to mention that, when someone is stating the opposite, all you reply with is "Not true" and "I know for a fact this is not the case".
Nice try, though *cough*.

Lol according to this I'm bipolar :O
In fact it doesn't matter if people give you assumptions on why you should believe it or not, because it's mostly speculation.
In the end, the only thing that really matters is the execution. And the time for it is getting close.

Nope, and if it was the only computer game on the market I still wouldn't play it.

Aren't we a witty one, took you a whole two minutes to come up with that.

Admittedly thats not the entire game but it is quite a big and important part of it. all of endgame,
AoC was also under NDA but thats not a very good example as it sucked.
