I never understood why people like this guy so much.  All he does is flame whatever he's reviewing whilst speaking without inhaling.  Sort of like a troll version of Micro Machine Man.

While I don't agree with anything the guy said, the whole bit was actually pretty funny.

Sure the guy is a twat but that was still funny shit and enjoyable.

    THanks for the link

Yeah, he hit this game dead on.

Seriously, this game baffles me beyond belief. When I played the free trial, I spend more time waiting offline for skills to level up than actually playing the game.

No game should reward players for their inactivity, at least not as much as this game does.

that is the good point in eve you dont have to grind levels so you got more free time you can log only on weekends and when you got time like that eve dont become a second job

when you read posts like this, it's incredibly hard to not reply with a "sorry you can't read" attitude.

what exactly is it that required you to spend "more time waiting offline for skills to level up than actually playing the game"?   aren't you able to build a toon that pretty much starts in a cruiser nowadays?  that would make me think you can start a toon that does VERY will in a frig, out of the gate.

inactivity?  so, it's better to grind to lvl 80, then grind faction with a dozen groups, then grind crafting skills for cooking, first aid, fishing plus two "main profession" skills, then grind pvp for honor for the pvp purples, then grind dungeon after dungeon 50 times over so everyone in your team can get that tier of gear, and then you go to the next dungeon, rinse and repeat.

vs. being able to join in on faction warfare pvp the first day of your play?

    really?

    seriously?

could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

he played the game avoiding contact with other players as much as possible. way to miss the point. also, stop trolling, we've seen the video, its funny but just makes him look stupid.

I have friends who played EvE only since last year and some since launch and they all do the same thing.

"select a new skill to train"

    "logoff

"log back in a month later to train a new skill"

EVE Online is just a boring skill trainer.

well, thats certainly an indepth analysis by some guy who knows someone who plays eve.

It boggles my mind that some of you are actually taking this joker seriously.

Hes a god damn comedian, this shit is intended to be funny.

And to all the people that actually agree with him you are either trolls or spent about 5 minutes in game.

I bet you any amount of money If I met this dude in the streets of NYC and asked him about his Eve review  he would say it was all just a comedy skit and its only intended as comedy entertainment and holds no water.

seriously laugh at the shit cause its funny and move on.

Edit: it makes me wonder If you guys are the ones in rookie chat that piss and moun that you can't use WSAD keys to move and log off pissed and uninstall.

sort of like the good ole days in swg (pre-cu) were nothing but a buggy crapfest (bounty hunter missions anyone?) and a grind fest of retardation (ever tried leveling a trade skill without macros)?

and that is ALL pre-cu swg involved...

I laughed my balls off on the first play through of that vid. Then I seriously started questioning my EVE subscription. Then I decided "Fuck what he says I like tweaking out ship after ship after ship, battling them against other ships and occasionally mining during the downtime to afford more ships"

It's like a game about Car's. It's got it's audience. I admit it's not for everyone though. I for one, thoroughly enjoy the game, though only in small bursts, which is why I'm thankful for the time-based levelling system. No grind in this game! Which, humorously enough, is what the majority of the player base bitches about.

I have trouble even classifying it as a MMORPG. It's more like some kind of economy-based, mining/battling spaceship piloting game. The closest thing I could describe to grinding in EVE is mining, which isn't entirely necessary.

I am a connoisseur of fine wine and fine pixels

EvE is battletech with spaceships and an economy.

He's partly right and wrong at the same time, EvE can be an exciting game but atm its just not worth it, Faction Wars are the dumbest thing, yay you can become the suicide virgin hop onto a frigate and suicide yourself against the first gatecamp you encouter, good thing you only have 900K  sp's and ibi's are for free so you can rince and repeat all day long.

And i'm not even going into Missions, Industry or pretty much 0.0 warfare ( witch resumes about to however has the most numbers and capitals )  or pretty much staring at a monitor all day watching rocks burst or , well if you hate WoW raiding then go do missions on EvE and prepare to become bored to death.

La créme de la créme is their support, really , just try to open a petition in EvE or post about solving any issue with your game client.

EvE at has too many people playing it was nicer when it was only 12k people on servers...oh well.

What are you talking about? Faction warfare is fine. I use a alt in a Freaking merlin with named tech I fits and fight along side my buddies also in shitty frigs and cruisers just fine.

yeah we know missions are boring, thats why they get a revamp in march and CCP is already talking about a mining revamp to match the mission one.

And last I checked 0.0 territory control is all about massive battles and following primary targets. whats the problem if you want more strategic battles join a low sec corp and fight in a small gang.

I swear the haters are coming out of the woodwork this week due to all the positive articles on eve recently.

How long have you played EvE seriously? One year? Two? You can't compare 0.0 and lowsec from nowadays with the last 3 - 4 years, you could actually roam in 0.0 and lowsec, cruisers, battlecruisers, even frigates were usefull to some extent, today?

Lol, you can't run a frigate gang without getting blobbed to bits with HIC's ( thats heavy interdiction cruisers kiddos) and rapiers and the usual assortment of battleships and blobbage , this to stay to a bare minimum in terms of lowsec, if you are in a frigate, in lowsec as soon as you ram into a gatecamp or one recon/hac/bs gang, you are mostly dead or end up running pretty much all the time, go into null space and you are deadmeat, no sentrys, the HIC's spawn their bubbles, the rapier and ishtar/vaga/zealot pilots go about their dutie and... well say goodbye to your gang, and this applies to either frigate sized ships or to pretty much anything else.

Eve in nullsec ( 0.0 ) doesn't resume to massive battles in space for strategic targets, it resumes to whoever brings the most numbers and is able to massively outnumber the other faction, it resumes to whoever has the most motherships, titans, carriers, dreads and about thousand more support ships all just to end up in the glory of that space phenomena known as LAG... HUGE UMPLAYABLE LAG! unless you live in the test server and go about those requests that the dev team makes now and then about testing reinforced nodes, then my friend in the real EvE server where everything happens you can't barely get 500 flying around without getting lagged to bits.

This was a short version of nullsec and 0.0

    Now for Factional Warfare...

"What are you talking about? Faction warfare is fine. I use a alt in a Freaking merlin with named tech I fits and fight along side my buddies also in shitty frigs and cruisers just fine."

You are joking right? Thats you or me that know how to handle the game and even so thats mostly in a gang with more people because i am not seeing a 3 day or 1 month player having the ISKies to run around loosing frigates and cruisers left and right, in fact i'm not seeing a newbie going against many people all by himself before getting one shot blasted out of space and back to the station were his clone should have never come out.

Missioning in Factional Warfare.. forget it also so this pretty much concludes faction warfare.

"yeah we know missions are boring, thats why they get a revamp in march and CCP is already talking about a mining revamp to match the mission one."

Yeah right, see to believe, the revamp is coming but first let it come out and then judge if its worth it, the last mission "revamp" lead to tons of missions being added and still its the same thing over and over again.. oh yeah you can "fight" capital ships in those missions... hurrah...

"I swear the haters are coming out of the woodwork this week due to all the positive articles on eve recently."

Its not about being a hater especially when i sticked around for all this time when a good chunck of my friends quited, in the end its like i said, EvE was much better when it had 12K top subscrivers on at most.

Today the game has changed now you need really good ships and big numbers, but you still need to be organized, You cant have a 500 ships fleet against a 300 ship fleet and just randomly just zerg and win you need a plan you need to follow directions. And while I havent played for 5 years ive been around exactly two years and 4 months so far and think I know enough about the game imo.

I dont know man I've been pretty successful runing with my buddies in low sec space in a small gang (not null). It maybe because were already familar with the game because we have our frigs in either named meta IV or Tech II and if were arent in tech I frigs were in AFs, intys or sometype of cruiser. we just make sure were careful, you our brain and scout ahead. sure maybe thats too much to ask for a new player but it is possible thats all im saying. IS it the best way to do it? no lol

Believe me man I understand the lag issue you have I've lost a few ships being caught in a stutter then zoning back to my clone, it suxed then but I havent seen lag that bad since the stackless addition. And I dont care what you say even in really big fights you target the most dangerous ships first you dont just kill the first guy close to you. you still have to be organised and follow directions... at least I do. maybe you have alot of undisiplined players in ur fleets or bad leaders?

This was a short version of nullsec and 0.0

while its not easy its deffinetly doable as a newish player as long as you dont go at it alone. Just because its not the best way doesn't mean it cant be done.  Newbies should never pvp solo in low sec LOL! did I say solo? and everyone knows you dont pvp  unless you could afford to lose the ships you fly. generally a month of running missions and you should have the skills and Isk to replace a frig or cruiser fit decently atleast ten times. this also gives you time to actually make friends so you can run in a gang.  If your major complaint is FW effectiveness solo as a new player then yes I agree its tough in the begining.

Missioning in Factional Warfare.. forget it also so this pretty much concludes faction warfare.

I never said anything about missioning in FW i have my issues with that but I best leave that for a later bitch post if it doesnt get fixed.

"yeah we know missions are boring, thats why they get a revamp in march and CCP is already talking about a mining revamp to match the mission one."

They are saying this new mission system is a total revamp if they release this next xpac with only adding a few missions CCP would be introuble. before they only added a few missions they never said anything about a revamp. A revamp is a big statement they know thier playerbase is asking for alot.

I dont know how anyone could say a MMO is better with less players. Due to lag? the game has been improved lag wise for a little while now. not many players are complaining about it. Eve has such a large player area that it needs all the players it could get. man if Eve still had 12 subs that would mean only about 500-1k people played at once thats a empty ass game why would anyone want that?

This man is a comic genius as well as the best online game reviewer I have ever seen... hell not just online he's the best game reviewer fall stop. Yes he seems to hate almost every game he reviews, for the simple reason he right! Most games are shit! Just like most bloody films to be honest. His high brow; dry and dark, sense of humour mixed with a dash of Monty python silliness and slap stick flash animations means that his reviews are both informative and funny as fuck.

As you can tell I'm an Eve fan boy, but he hit the nail on the head guys LMAO! We are a punch of sad ass lame geeks who have a habit of taking this game fair to seriously. If you can’t take the piss out of yourself or see the funny side of your life then you’re doomed to be an emo and that’s just not healthy guys. He slated my favourite game but he did it right and true from his perspective of what he finds entertaining and as he only had 14 days to do it in he was only going to scratch the surface of eve. This game only gets to be interesting once you've been playing for a good 6 months or so.

He’s also a Brit so that also puts him in my good books, as we are the greatest nation this would has and will ever see! and our humour does tend to go over lesser nation heads... particularly Americans LOL.

Eve rocks! If you don't like it your a a 12 year old, or have the mental age of one, with the attention span of a goldfish! We are so glad your not screwing up the greatest MMORPG to date! Or of course you just might not like this kind of game ;D ...weirdo’s!

Sorry didn't read all the post but felt like I should reply to a comment made. How long have you been playing in 0.0 and not figured this out? Blob fights isn't just about numbers I've been regularly out numbered 2 to 1 and even close to 3 to 1 and we won. Just look at KIA vs Triumvirate campaign a few months back we (Tri, and I’m X tri now just to say) fielded about 100 to 200, 150 on average against about 200 to 400 and won most of the time. Tactics, skill, and team work is what wins the day, numbers play their part but are not the be all and end all of a 0.0 blob battle. To be fair we have never had our asses handed to us in blob fights... or at least not while I was flying with them (3 month or so). We had our defeats but due to tactics, skill and team work we managed to make our defeats more like stalemates, which was boarding as hell sitting behind a stront reinforced POS, with only a few finely picked off noobs/stragglers to break up the monotony. But we never took heavy losses like out foes and thats why we won.

Actually after a little bit of reflection, I might have a slightly one sided view of the campaign lol we had our losses some weeks, but still we came out the victors  lol.

I am a fan of yahtzee, and an eve player. The guy bashes everything except gay wii shit, wow, and silent hill games. I'm fine with that. I am not so uptight as to take offense to him bashing eve online, that's what he does, he bashes. It is comedy obviously and meant to entertain, so anyone who gets angry at a pseudo-review of their game of choice by this guy, has got their head so far up their ass, they can taste pancreas. I find him hilarious personally, and to that yo-yo madjimbob who made the remark that americans don't get it, I think it is you who doesn't get it friend. Last time I checked, sense of humor comes down to the individual, and has nothing to do with nationality, race, or creed. Or maybe cause I'm American I'm too stupid to understand your rapier wit. Ha Ha.

Anyways, I thought the review was as funny as all the others I've seen, and find it very representative of the average gamer who doesn't know any better, trying out eve for the first time. Eve is not for everyone, if it was it would be the game with millions of subscribers. But for a time I skipped from game to game looking for the true hardcore mmo experience I craved, and found it in Eve. Without it, I probably would have quit the genre altogether.

LMAO. I've never agreed with anything this guy puts out. But everything he does makes me LOL.

Even being an EVE player myself, I couldn't help but watching this one twice, just so I could keep laughing.

EVE is the epidemy of point-and-click MMOs.  That's all you do.  Only time you use your keyboard is to chat or type in how much you want to buy something for...not my tastes.  If i wanted an auto-battle, point-and-click I'd go play WoW.
