Yes, and it's practically impossible to even proove any facts on this site itself... I mean really any thread here could be considered "factless" w/ that wording.
haha I have successfully infiltrated "forum fall" and detrailed the open coffee tv thread there with my cake and bewbs shinanigans. it is now locked muhahahaha!

I quoted the OP, who apparently quoted someone from the official Darkfall Boards. I'm going on information the community presents and -ASKED- if anyone else thought that the sattement given sounded a bit like cut content.
I did not assume anything. Learn to read m8.
Praytell where is the following in the uneditted OP? 1. Good. Though we've heard such promises before, I'll wait for the 15th then to decide how things are going. 2. Dunno if it is true though Does this sound to anyone else like a premature excuse for missing content and features ? "Support the decisions about the game Aventurine have made to make the 22nd -possible-"? Well...we shall see.
Please try harder to mask your desire to project your negativity of the game since that seems to be your agenda now.
What what?? I asked a question in the second part.
And the first part...I said. GOOD! Sheesh. And yes, we've heard beta-promises before. Just means I'm not gonna get too optimistic.
What the hell is wrong with you?
It looks like you are performing double speak. If not, I've misjudged your motives.
i think the "concessions" are not on features, they will be on the number of people who can play. i don't think they can handle the initial flood of players.
open beta in 1 week. hope they cut something we don't need like ship combat it looks half baked anyways
hmmm. maybe they should leave that in Pirate games... on those old vids it does look finished... showed players swimming to other ships and climbing up the sides ... when they were climbing up it animation reminded me of CS when players climbed ladders it would look a little "floaty".
I hope they don't cut it out... hmm could be fun who knows.
i wonder what there cutting out to make a Jan 22nd release ? not that it matters either way ppl would bitch and cry If thay delayed release and finished testing everything ppl would cry and if thay release with some things not funcinal ppl will cry so it dont matter TBH
Hmm.. There was easy solution, they could announce open beta test date without release date. I will laugh if there will be many bugs/problems in open beta. It will remind (probably) me of some game which i dont remember now
It seems Aventurine is pretty confident that they will succeed, wish them luck or curse them.
Well from beta testers and Gianna, the client is unbelievably stable. I trust them over speculation.
i think the "concessions" are not on features, they will be on the number of people who can play. i don't think they can handle the initial flood of players.
Thats exactly what I was thinking. Smaller developers don't have the same access to server resources at release that someone like blizz or Mythic has had. They might not have the benefit of extra equipment sitting around as a backup to meet rising demand. Or they might not be able to quickly bring equipment online due to where the servers are being hosted.
Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence. Woe to thee, the pierce-ed.

hmmm... aren't you the guy that claimed to have a buddy in beta?... I hate to agree with all the "negative nancys" on this site but it sure does seem that you speak as if it's 100% when you make a statement.
I am tellin you it isn't going to happen. It's complete freakin bullshit. If they wanted to do an open beta than what is the point of waiting until the 15'th to do it? Why not do it RIGHT NOW? Why do it with 7 days left to launch?
Also considering the game, according to Tasos, has been ready for release for months and in a better state than other MMOs at that stage...
That's what really baffles me, personally.
This is not a "troll" post (for those frothing at the mouth, ready to call me one for daring to say anything doubtful of DF)... just my objective observation based on what Tasos himself has said, compared to actual events.

If it is as complete as people say and Tasos has claimed, why would they need a long open beta? I think it's merely to show people how the game is before launch, so they get a good initial revenue.
I will state, right now, right here, I don't think Darkfall needs a long open beta, and we'll find that out shortly.

... for one, the only way to know how truly ready a MMO is for release is to have an open beta with thousands of people slamming it at once, on thousands of different PC configurations, in a real-world scenario. Because that's when many of the issues come up that simply cannot be found in a controlled, closed environment - no matter how thorough one might think it is.
This is also known as a public stress test and there are few MMOs I've played or beta in my time that hasn't had these several weeks before launch.
I worked as a QA Tester for a software company that tested a subscription-based software on a monthly basis. No matter how bullet-proof we believed it was, or how confident were of it, when it got into the users' hands, all kinds of different issues would come up. Things we would never have been able to discover ourselves because they were due to factors outside our control.
The best we could do was work to recreate them and then make the appropriate fixes.
That's just a fact of software development, period.
So if it was you say, and he's simply that confident that it's ready to launch with such a short testing period, well... I suppose time will tell won't it
But I do agree, the statement that he hopes players will understand the decisions they made in order to make the 22nd possible, sounds like an admission that some concessions will have had to be made... Which again isn't a horrible thing. This, too, happens all over in software development.
However, it also undermines his statement that "the game has been ready for months".
I think Tasos is like many other people you meet in day-to-day life... They let their enthusiasm and ego get the better of their discretion, and make silly statements from time to time. It's a very human flaw and I'd, personally, be perfectly willing to accept it as such. If only some people weren't so ready to deem everything he says as gospel.

Yes, and remeber A.P.s job is to hype their game w/out giving out the juicy details... In that Tasos has done his job beautifully... he's excited the the fanbois and trolls alike to a fever pitch. He's done his job quite well.

The problem is most people learn over time not to let their enthusiasm get the better of them.
Tasos has been making these silly statements since late 2002!!!! Anyone with more IQ then a garden slug would by now have learned to keep their mouth shut especially after looking like an idiot time and time again when what they said never came to fruition.
I have met many wonderful, intelligent Greeks in Athens, Piraeus and Glyfada, so either he is the national poster child of Greece for mental retardation or an arrogant Brad McQualude type a**hole.
Mid dezember this Tasos tell us that the game is "feature complete"/"ready for release". Not, less then 2 weeks before release, it seems it aint so . . . ( if we just intepret that comment a bit . . . )
From gloomis at Darkfallonline.com For anyone actually interested in what Tasos said at the event, he said that they are planning for open beta to start a week before release on the 15th , and the open beta client will be on a bittorent linked from the forums when he makes an announcement in a few days so we have time to download it
Good. Though we've heard such promises before, I'll wait for the 15th then to decide how things are going. Dunno if it is true though adding this:
Tasos also said that there will be a full status update for the community about the progress that has been made so far in beta, and he hopes that we will support the decisions about the game Aventurine have made to make the 22nd possible.
Does this sound to anyone else like a premature excuse for missing content and features ? "Support the decisions about the game Aventurine have made to make the 22nd -possible-"? Well...we shall see.
They said planning.. not promise. Thats the problem people dont know the difference between planning and promise
So, let me understand this. Mid dezember this Tasos tell us that the game is "feature complete"/"ready for release".
Not, less then 2 weeks before release, it seems it aint so . . . ( if we just intepret that comment a bit . . . ) Ok, is this is true, this guy is full of BS !
An A.P.s job is to hype their product w/out breaking NDA (i.e., the juicy details we all want to hear). It's just a job and nothing personal. Now do certain things happen that causes a game to derail and miss it's launch date... sure, will that company reveal why?... Usually not... it's not good to admit weakness from a Marketing standpoint, and that goes w/out saying for any company trying to push their respective product out of the market. Is he full of "BS" as you word it? In a way that he's an A.P. is always full of B.S.... it's called marketing... get used to it and be realistic.

you both kind of just bumped the thread while in discussion about not bumping it.

Why not?
1 week before release seems perfect.
