Having trouble getting my mic working on new sound card (fixed)

the above is my new sound card that i got (actually my first one ever). And the sound is amazing, but when i went to go use ventrilo it wouldnt work. I thought it was my new headset, but even when i switched to my old one (that worked with the old sound card) it still didnt work. I think i remember peopel saying creative labs had driver problems or something with their sound cards, and so i was wondering if i should reinstall my drivers or is there one out there specifically for the mic? 

Also there is a red light inside the microphone socket, i'm not sure if thats normal or not, and i cant seem to find any creative lab forum.

 

EDIT: alright i downloaded a control panel for the sound card and it had my microphone muted. I unmuted it, and everything seems to be fine now =D

Which operating system are you using?

If Vista then get your drivers from the companies website for Vista, not from the CD.

Check the same website for a specific driver for the microphone.

Also check at the microphone manufacturers website for the proper driver.

ahh i forgot to say that i am running vista 64.

Also when i first got it, i dled the driver from the website and installed it that way, i did not use the cd. And i checked the site for a mic specfic driver but didnt find one for my card.

The only other requirement is software from Powerdvd.

Looks like a very nice piece of hardware.
