and then I went to the official forums.
Good god, what a human cesspool. They really take forum trolling to a new plateau. There's not a single thread where people aren't flexing their e-peens about the date they registered their forum account. If they're representative of the maturity/intelligence level to be expected in this game, I think I'm going to pass.

By your own words you would fit in perfectly, as it is obvious that your intent w/ this post is for sheer "sensationalism" and to attract attention to yourself. Congratulations and welcome to DF.
Yeah, the Darkfall forums are pretty bad, I mostly stay on these because of that.
People on DarkFall forums are pretty much bottom of the barrel variety. Apparently the longer you've been waiting for darkfall the more l33t you are. I wouldn't worry about the community to much, most of those jerks will never play the game. They prefer to haunt forums and stroke e-peens.

Watch Johnny Cash, Darkfall Tribute
Yeah, they are a bit of a mess, you have to sift through all the crap posts.
But, what do you expect?
There's nothing to talk about! We already know everything their is to know about the game, that we're allowed to know. So people are just bored, waiting for the game. And you're not allowed to discuss leaks on their either, so really... There's nothing at all to be talking about. Since about 2 weeks before launch date, those forums turned fairly crappy.
When the game releases, it'll have a purpose again.

Always hating on instances in MMOs! Open worlds, open PvP, territory control and housing please. More persistence, more fun.
Shrug. judging a game based on the forums is not a very valid measure. Take a look at the forums weven here at mmorpg.com ...there is a lot of flames and complaints somewhere in every forum. Does that mean all the games are bad?

It's like the vaporware-argument doesn't work anymore, you have to find something new... fact is: Due the gaming beeing announced 8 years ago, nearly every aspect has been discussed already. So people are just really anxious to play Darkfall and get annoyed quickly. Also, with the new forums beeind introduced at the release, everyone's going to have about the same join date anyway.
Forumfall's Off-Topic used to be one of the best there is and is still pretty good eventhough its quality has gone way down since the OB signup started and quite alot of idiots came in. But if you just started out in the forums and the first thing you do is making a thread in the advanced darkfall discussion writing that darkfall should be like WoW because WoW is such an uber awesome game (just an example, not saying it was you), expect to be called a troll and flamed.
It's a minority but it still those who are seen most. Sadly.

The Sceptics, yes they're special but we've need them to.. I guess.
And if they're put more effort MMORPG.com can create a 'Team Sceptic'
and send them to the Special Olympus.
Yeah its totally true, the majority of the people posting on the forums at the moment are really only a tiny vocal minority, and not representative of the real community in anyway.
The actual majority of the people interested in this game are just not posting on the official forums with less then 2 weeks till release for some reason.
The official forums will definitely improve drastically after the game launches, and the in game community will be nothing like the official forums are now at all, in any way whatsoever.

In what way, by his words, would he fit in? What did he say to make him fit in?
On the other hand I find your statement to be over reacting to a simple comment / observation.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
You get that in any game forums (with a few exceptions), but I'll agree that they are pretty bad. I'm really looking forward to this game but honestly I fear that if the majority of players end up being the current DF forums goers, the community might be the downfall of the game. That's just my opinion and all, but who knows, only time will tell.
If you think thats bad, wait till you see the type of community that will develop once the game goes live and the gank fests begin!

Sure its bad down there, but its a hell of a lot better there than here.
these forums are pretty awful as well. hardcore pvp games always bring out the worsrt kind of gamers. Immature griefer jerks who live to act like ..................
If the industry didnt need an anti-wow hit so bad I would root for a failure just so the fanbois here would suffer
Bollocks. There are scumbags in all forums and that includes ones belonging to PvE games. Its the fact that the game has been "in progress" for so long which causes its forum dwellers to turn nasty. Stick a bunch of people in a room and lock the door on them and after a while they will turn on each other. Welcome to the human race.

I've seen the type of community that develops in games without a "gank fest" or any big casualties from failure, for example WoW.
I join a group of 3 for a low level instance, group is not full because it has a 7 levels higher DPS class to tank (common newbness, i prupose we get a 5-th person but there are not many people in LFG so we go with it). We go in, we kill some, we die miserably, no one says a fucking thing, just jump around and try to do something like a malfunctioning bot.
Healer says "brb" and leaves the group, the high level goes AFK and it's me and the group leader. I propose we find appropriate tank and healer, he's silent. I find a healer and ask him to invite, he's silent, the high level leaves. The group leader says "sry lol, gtg bb", i lose 20 minutes trying to communicate with anti-social pricks.
Funny thing is that happened most of the time when i joined a group , occassionaly you group with normal people (and get to run through dungeons with elementary difficulty feeling a close to none sense of accomplishment), or join a good guild (and do the same in a larger scale), but rarely, very rarely. And that's where the community was supposed to flourish free of any punishment for incompetence or unfair PK-ing.
Would that happen if there were harsh consequences for death like in EQ (from a corpse run to big XP loss and possible equipment loss) ? Would that happen if all your stuff could get looted by mobs? Would that happen if you could get gutted by your group if you screw up?
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!
On we sweep with threshing oar, our only goal will be the western shore."

I have had exactly the same experience with all of these weak PvE games including WoW. I keep seeing people post complete bullshit about how the PvP crowd are all childish and immature and yet the so-called "communities" from these PvE games totally suck. PvE games are where you will find all the players that are generally crap at playing games because they dont have to be good to make any progress. In every PvE game I have played I find myself surrounded by a sea of absolute retards that are barely capable of stringing an intelligent sentence together. Occasionally I meet a decent person but its very rare. Afterall you dont need to use your brain when your competition is a computer with terrible AI. Take a look at WoW and marvel at how awesome its "community" is.
However like Thoric says I think it is unlikely that all the shitty players you find in PvE carebear games will be able to handle a PvP game where failure and defeat actually carries a price with it. The more mature players who are capable of communicating properly just arent going to tolerate the level of brainless ineptitude we have been seing in all of these vanilla PvE games.
However in the next decent PvP game (and that wont neccessarily be Darkfall) we WILL see lots of moaning and whining posts filling the forums as all the PvE zombies encounter the proficient PvP players. They will be complaining about how rude and nasty they are and how they are all elitists. We have already seen it happen in EvE where the good players tell the crappy immature ones to fuck off and then they come running to the forums to cry like little babies about how mean the EVE community is. I've seen it myself when I played EVE. There was always a steady stream of idiots typing completely dumb questions into the chat channel who then got upset when the more intelligent players just ripped the piss out of them. Afterall why should the decent players have to stoop to carry the useless ones?
