Ultima Online is more than likely what you're looking for. As for wanting voice chat I doubt any of them have that in game so you're going to have to find a guild in one of the games that does. If you decide you don't like UO here's a list of other 2D games:
I would prefer, that players drop loot when they die. And maybe a voice chat, or guild with voice chat. Does anyone know of such a game? You can recommend anything, as long as it's an online 2D game with PvP.

Or move into the third dimension like the rest of us.

Open PvP - Phoenix Dynasty Online, Starport Galactic Empires, Darkeden, and MU Online.
Dofus - Faction/Guild based PvP. More information can be found on its wiki page.
Grand Chase - Arena: solo, tag team, or party. A write up of it can be found at RPG Vault.
Corum Online - Higher level dungeons can be controlled by clans. Those clans receive resources for controlling them.
Myth War II Online - All of their PvP information can be found on their website.
Ghost Online - PvP information found on their website also.
