Is it too late to come back?

GorakkhGorakkh Member Posts: 694

Coming back as a lv 1 with no in-game connections will it be too difficult to get parties and actually advance in the game? I know alot fo the vets refuse to group with people without subjob even in dunes so that can be quite a pain when ur restarting. I remember playing at release which was great but then I quit and came back in 2005 and got a whm to lv 36 and the game seemed a little empty of players , maybe it was just my server.

See if you can get your character back since they're having a return campaign for players that might have lost their characters. Even if you can't, it's never too late. That and Level Synch rocks for parties, so no worries.

First, welcome back to Vana.  It seems everyone's coming back and lots of new players coming to the game and the population seems to be growing after 6+ years and i just can't get my head around that.  I rarely shy away from people who do not have subjobs and if I got a spot or 2 that I think they can fill in I will actually go out of my way to not only invite them to party but tell them that after party i'll help them get subjob items.

What server did you start on?  Bismarck lately has been omg flooded with people especially since the Odin move which I dont get as we weren't on the list of free servers.  Had almost 3300 people in japanese prime time today. Crazyness.  1594 right now so we could use more English players to help balance the server.

    EVE - Sharvala
    FFXI - Shazamalicious
Guild Wars - Xavier Lucifer & Charlize the Necro

I think it was Carbuncle but I'm not sure if that was when I played at release or in 05. The server I was on had a pretty good community , lots of nice people. People on Gamefaqs are recommending I go to Ragnarok server since a whole bunch of new players on gfaqs just started there and have a ls. But maybe I'll come to bismarck. I have the 08 360 version with all expansions and it comes with a 30 day free trial just don't know If I want to play it on my 360 since that'll be a bit uncomfortable , i have pc version too but I seem to have misplaced the discs and have only the box lol :( I think I'll just rebuy another pc version.

Hook your keyboard up to your xbox and you can play it just like the PC version. Only downside is being unable to watch TV at the same time.

What job/s do there seem to be a shortage of / large demand for these days? Also is dragoon still gimped? I remember last time I played it's like impossible getting a party as DRG , did they get upgraded since 05? Because I think it would be kind of fun to play as one.

If you happened to stop by Pandy server i know someone always messing around lol.hint hint.

It just so happens that Dragoon was/is my last job i never even got to level 1 lol.I am playing it right now and without a lot of effort i am at 25 i think it is in like 4 days.Dragoon is a VERY handy job. When you just feel like playing alone, you can quite easily.I am no DRG expert, well i sort of am now ,since i spent 4 days reading a lot lmao,i would say it was never a gimped job at all.

I think i could say easily i know why DRG was shunned a lot by parties. The DRG/war adds some nice dmg,but with a cost.Almost every mob in the game dishes out some form of AOE damage,so the wyvern will be steadily damaged making for lack lustre dmg.The wyvern seems to me so far anyhow, takes a very large hit as it's hp drop.So this means the DRG will be steadily using link and then sort of forcing the healer to waste mp on the drg.I know i read constant debates over it,no matter the point is other jobs well DRK is another lmao, can achieve solid DD w/o the added pressure on the healer.

I forgot to add a little information since 05.They made it so you can rest in between pulls and not lose TP,as long as you have the signet on.So a DRG can rest hp back ,not causing stryfe between him and healer :D.Plus the addition of the Dancer class makes for efficient help to healers. There is a lot more opportunity for all jobs in the game now.IMO PLD is LOOOOoooooooonnnggg over due for some needed love ,i can't believe Square ignores the PLD class totally.I have so many issues with the PLD class it is not funny :D.

Anyhow i can tell you, that if you like playing DRG,it is a very good job and you should play it ,if that is what you like.I have had chat already with other DRG,of course i ask them questions and such, and many told me they would have quit FFXI,if not for the DRG job,so there you have it lol.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Yeah, and also, in case he hasn't played since the older 2 Hour set up, the wyvern is no longer on a 2 hours cooldown, and is not the 2 hour skill, it's only like a 20 minute cooldown now. Spirit Link, which I think Wizardy is talking about above, is the 2 hour now, and can't remember what it does right now.

Sucks you still can't use the wyvern while DRG is subbed, though. Not that it would be any good, I suppose.

This is an MMO ... it is always too late to come back. It was too late to come back before you even got started the first time.

Spirit Link puts preasure on a healer? What kinda pusses you have healing for you? Healers play keep the bars full. If they don't want to play that they need to get out of the game. The only thing that is annoying for a healer when dealing with a DRG is the Super Jump. The DRG gets damaged and you try to cure, but nothing happens because the DRG just Super Jumped and you think you are doing something wrong.

As for DRK ... you mean when they Souleater? That isn't a problem if they are Souleatting their WSs and they turn it off after. That is what they are supposed to do. If they don't I let them die for being an idiot. I consider it lesson learned.

Hi, I just recently bought the game for the first time. Currently I'm at the stage of figuring out the controlls and how to make the game work with my PC Gamepad :P I have no idea how the combat system works, or the crafting system, or the quest system, or any other system for that matter. My plan is to lv solo as far as I can, read some faqs on the net, eventualy join a guild or at least make SOME friends to help me out further in the game.

I hope that motivated you to stop bitchin and start playin ;)

Btw any help would be greatly apreciated. I'm still level 1 so a remake is not a problem. Right now I'm on Bahamut because I heard it has many players. And I want there to be many players.

Vee, I'd definitely join ya and help ya out and stuff, as I'll be starting over from level 1 myself soon. I am just waiting for a copy of the xbox360 game to arrive in the mail.

Maybe when it arrives, I'll make a guy on Bahamut or something.

Sure mate I would love that. My name is also VeeZarD in the game. If you ever have the time you can mail me through PlayOnline or something. See you in game =)

BTW the game works fine with my gamepad now! Woohoo! Now to figure out the game mechanics...

Well I finally got my Harddrive back for my 360 so I installed FFXI on it today and rolled a char on Gilgamesh. Man there is not alot of lower lvls players left anymore nor newbs. It was almost a ghosttown for a while and then I came across about 5 other players. I remember back in even 05 there would be atleast 30-40 people in Sand'oria lol.
