You ALL knew it was coming. Don't sit there in your silly little chairs and pretend you had NO idea this was all coming.
YES! To start this game, you will HAVE to turn on a computer! Calm down and listen. You have NO CHOICE but to press a large button and listen to fans and beeps while it POSTS.
Not only this, but the game is going to have GRAPHICS! I know it, and you do too. There are going to be moving pictures (my grandparents called them "talkies") across a screen contraption that is going to produce convulsions and epilepsy in some people! If you call it a lie, READ the manual. They freely admit it.
This alleged game will also have, get this - "content". I have no idea what this form of "content" entails, but I *guarantee* you, it will be in there. Let's be honest, we've all seen this thing called "content" before. It's nothing new. It seems like it's in (almost) all MMO games that have ever been released, and quite frankly, it's outrageous. Follow questlines? Absurd! Crafting? Ruination!
I know I agree wholeheartedly with Jester, here.
Look, guys. The only way this game has even a remote chance of suriving is if SOE makes it. They'll give you the sandbox, but not actually, y'know.. fill it with the sand. These issues of "content"(TM) wouldn't be a problem. Rumor is (there is a video of it on youtube, I believe) that it doesn't even require you to turn the computer on. If that isn't trend-breaking innovation, then I've got nothing for you.
Remember: TOR and WoW are going to be EXACTLY the same, and look where it got Blizzard.
NOWHERE!
A picture is worth a thousand words, folks. Those TOR screenshots and trailer have told me everything I, and Jester, could possibly ever want to know. An exceptional post, GrumpyJester. Thank you for bringing this to the attention of the community.

“It’s not a day-in-the-life of Star Wars”. Instead, he tells them that it’s about being a hero. This may have just killed it. So EVERY ONE is a hero so no one is. Nice way to kill it for some of us. Really I am tired of everyone gets to feel like a bad ass in MMO's. If you want that sort of feeling then play a singleplayer RPG. Some people have to be trampled on the way to the top. Gaming is no different.
You miss the whole point of the statement. It is not about everyone being super jedi or some demi-god. The point is that one of the central pillars of the game is a little thing called STORY. It means that there will not be a class of character where you do nothing but dance in a cantina all day because then you would have abselutely no immersion into the story whatsoever. It wont be a guided quest to quest adventure like many MMO's out there either because you will have options and you will be able to choose what road your character takes. Instead of a quest that says go fetch me 12 boar knuckles you will be faced with a scenerio and given choices of what path you want your character to take on that particular quest.(Wholly crap like a true RPG!) What you choose will effect both the game play AND the development of your character. This says nothing at all about minmaxing or trying to be wonderboy but more about the ability for you to control your characters destiny and a desire to invest time in them. Why buy a game if you aren't going to play it and wont have your character leave the bar?
Or I would rather craft a world, have skills and be dropped in the Old Republic to either fail or suceed on my own merits and others like me. Or we can continue the same regurgitated crap that has been pushed and failed the past few years. Again if you want a STORY created for you please pick up a single player RPG and stop fucking up games with mass amounts of potential. Sandbox>kindergarten story time
Why do you even bother? The game will be no sandbox and it will be story driven. Or do you really think that they might start over with development at this point?
Just wait and see if the devs can live up to their single player RPG reputation. Maybe we are in for something innovative for once.

Why dont you take your own advice, and STFU talking about stuff that doesnt belong in a main-stream MMO?
It is great...heck even wonderfull you feel the need to live a RL sim in your gaming experience.
Go find a game that encompasses that idea, cause this is appearing to be the opposite of what you are wanting. There are several new sand box games about to launch. Instead of supporting them, you are making posts belittling those that dont enjoy your gaming style in a forum dedicated to a game that wont be your play style. /golf clap....brillant thinking.
Being born in 68, I was there when SW originally hit the screen.
It is nothing about being "mature" that makes you wanna have a RL sim in your gaming world. Instead I view folks that wanna live a life of Uncle Owen as a "nerd's nerd". Pure unadultrated social misfits, who know nothing other than to stomp their feet/insult when others dont agree with them and/or their gaming style.
Well guess what...the majority of gamers dont wanna spend their time in a sim. Instead they wanna "game". Or put in a way I once read...folks prefer "roll-play" to "role-play". Not that either style is wrong per se...they just dont mix/match all that well.
Pity some folks are too dense to understand that they belong to a niche crowd, and by constantly berating others, they insure that they are even less desire-able as potential customers to a company.
After watching how vets acted in SWG during the PRECioUs era, and afterwards when it was taken away....I cant believe anyone in their right mind would wanna deal with you guys. The sit down protests that were run in game(disrupting others gaming FTL) was some of the stupidest chit I ever heard of. Folks should of been perma-banned for that one. Doesnt matter the reason(cred dupe problems/banning/etc)...your response was off-base.
There comes a time when something is "more trouble than it is worth". The "vet" crowd is the very epitome of that concept IMO. Their actions since the launch of SWG tells the story. And bonus idiot points to those folks that would gloat about damaging SWG boxes at stores and/or hiding the game...you are probably the most childish of the bunch.
To think you guys have the audacity to call others "immature"...simply priceless.
I suggest picking up a mirror sometime. Looking in it...then having a reality check. Yes....it is working on 4 years now. You gonna spend the rest of your life whining over a game?
As for myself...I hope Bioware makes another great story driven game like the others from them that I have enjoyed. Just upgraded my 3 yr old 360 to an elite. Since I couldnt transfer my save games of KOTOR 1 and 2 from the old system I sold, I am replaying thru them currently. Bioware only helped with part 2, but it was pretty good also barring the rushed/incomplete ending.
Hope the magic from these games makes it into the MMO.
Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget.
Well said moaky. We all knew all a long time ago this wasn't going to be a sandbox game,. Fans of that genre need to go to SIMs online(oh wait, that game no longer exists), or Second Life(Still has a pulse last I heard. )I hear Darkfall has some sandbox elemants so fans need to go there and stop littering these forums.
