Just watched some of the cutscenes that led to. . . I didn't get nearly as far in that game as I thought I did. . . Return to Zork was probably one of the most fun games I've ever played, and one of the few that I liked that I never beat.
Okay. Be honest - at the time you originally played - How many of the interactive fiction games would you type as many bad words as you could think of to see what witty comments the programmers came up with?
Also, although Zork was the grand daddy of all the interfactive fiction games (or more likely the original version - Adventure), I still preferred some of the others that Infocom came up with in the 80s. One of my favorites of all time was:
The Lurking Horror - which happened to be written by one of the two creators of Zork. Basically a creepy interactive fiction horror on a college campus. Which was odd, because most of the people who played it were in a computer lab on a college campus.
Also, I really miss Floyd from the Planetfall/Stationfall series.
EDIT: And dur - Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Which the blowup green spot doll with the thumb extended that came in the original box is sure to bring memories (and worth a lot of money).
