Just a few thread above there's a thread call  "How to choose your perfect character"  read thru that.

Than log into game and get a feel of the class you choose. No hurry dude, for its quite a long way to level 80 if you take your time.

If you wana choose a warrior, i have to warn you though. You may die quite alot during the early levels. My main is a war and i love it! Especially since WOTLK i re-spec to proct, its very very good. Can take on 5-6 mobs my level and still standing :D

But take your time and choose, and choose the class that you have the most fun with, that's the most important....

And also remember that Druid is very limited (One Race per side) so if you choose Druid (and I can HIGHLY recommend it) you have either Night elf (alliance) or Tauren (Horde)

Games played/playing: Asheron's Call, AC2, SWG, GW, LotRO (Beta), DnDO (Beta), WoW

If you want to be a really unique class/race, go female dwarf rogue (or male).

I'd say even on full/locked servers you'll only see a small handful of those.

I have an 80 lock and warrior.  I like my warrior the most, very easy to get into groups for raids.  Warlock is very good for PvP.  I usually play my Warrior when I want to PvE.  I play my Warlock when I want to PvP.

If you want an easy time finding groups at endgame, roll a healer.

Everyone and their brother has a Druid these days, and Warlocks have left the game en masse due to the ridiculous nerfs (or so I am told) they received with the new expansion.

If you want a class that's underappreciated these days, go Rogue. They are a dime a dozen, but a good one is one in a million, and can push out some seriously sick DPS.

As a first character I would highly recommend a Rogue. They are easy to play (but difficult to Master). If you want to avoid fight your way into an area to get a quest done you can stealth in, do what you need to do and stealth out again. As most xp is gain via questing you can avoid quite a few mishaps this way.

On a side note, as this is your first character I recommend two gathering professions, mining or herbing together with skinning and sell everything on the Auction House. With the gold you will make you can easily afford to buy the needed riding skills as you level and when you reach end game and decide you would like a crafting skill you can always drop one of the others and powerlevel your new chosen profession.

Roll a paladin if you want to win at WOW.

I would do what one of the other posters suggested - try several classes before you go all the way to level 80.  You could play pretty casual and get a character to 20ish which is a great way to get a feel for it.  Maybe try three very different classes, like a priest, a paladin, and a druid, to see how they play.  When I first started I played a warrior up to level 53 (when the cap was at 60) and then rolled a priest just for fun one day and got hooked.  I never leveled the warrior again and took the priest to maxas my main.  I really wished I had tried the priest earlier before investing so much time in the warrior.  My 2 cents, anyway.  Good luck!

/agree on the Rogue - I've played one on and off since the game launched.  They have a bad reputation as asshats and incompetant one-button mashers but if you play 'em right and find a decent guild they're actually pretty fun.  Stealth adds a whole new dimension to battlegrounds - sneak past the baddies and cap a flag, good times, and if you learn a bit of theorycrafting you can do sick single-target DPS (I would often top the DPS charts in T4 raids back in the BC days wearing mix n match Kara, badge, and battleground welfare epix, even against full-T4 rogues with all the fancy enchants etc).  But of course enjoyment of your class is subjective, and I don't want to tell you to roll Rogue with the guarantee you'll like it.  Best bet is to figure out your playstyle and what kind of role you want to fill and pick a class based on that.
