Personally, i'm over-fed-up with all the bullshit that's going on with this game.
The COMPLETE ABSENCE of official information,
Lack of updates on the game,
(the few updates are) Disappointing updates ,
Darkfall Forum Mod Nazis (closing threads then never giving a reason, etc...),
The pathetically religious fanbase (THIS GAME WILL BE THE BEST EVARRR CUZ TASOS SAID!!!),
The bullshit being fed to us CONSTANTLY (We definately won't miss a release date!!!, EVERYONE will try the game for free b4 paying!!!, The game is 100% ready to release in early december '08)
The Arrogant Development team (Our game is teh bomb! 100% bug free lawl!),
The pathetic Excuses that the fans (who have never played the game, mind you) constantly pull out of their asses for the game.

^Seriously? ALMOST EVERY FUCKING MMO CAN HANDLE 1,000,000 PEOPLE, WoW handles 12 Million with great stability, and you're saying that you can't handle 200,000????

Darkfall, you lost me. I was looking forward to playing this game in all of its promises, but i'm fed up with everything that I listed above (and those are only off the top of my head...).
The only reason I anticipated this game was because of the "Feature List" on their website which hasn't been updated since 2003. I hate pretty much EVERYTHING else about this game.
I'll still be checking these forums because they're good for the hearty lulz (these are good forums to come to if you want an easy ab workout), but there isn't a chance in hell that Aventurine will be able to suck me back into this nonsense.

... and come on. Take a minute to open your eyes and read. The fanbase is not unreasonable or religous. It's the haters and trolls that are cult like and religously slam on Darkfall every chance they get. Just take a minute to read any forum on the internet.

Holy crap man,
find a hobby, don't sit around counting the day, hours, minutes until a game comes out. Don't let your life revolve around a game. Find some hobbies or get a girlfriend or something and then when the game comes out, if it ever does give it a try if not oh well.

I agree that the Trolls are over the top a lot of the time, but to say that the Fanboys aren't cult-like is very naive.
These kind of threads came up for every single game tha twas released so far and will keep coming up for every game soon to be released. They are hilarious and pointless at the same time.
Hilarious in a way it's funny to see a person getting a cake on his face, fun to watch but not to receive.
Pointless because no matter what you say, if the game ends up to be a good one, no matter how much you whine now, you'll be playing it when it actually releases.
You'll give it a shot, anyway. Stop throwing up such a tantrum about the postponing, everyone knows that you're just pissed that you can't play the game just yet.

The game hasn't come out yet. I think every game deserves a fair chance, and I greatly admire what Aventurine set out to do and how far they have come in the last 8 years. It is not an easy undertaking especially with the community in which they are trying to serve.
If it comes out and is not fun or they are shady through release then I will be the first to criticize them. If it is awesome then I will have a new game to play. Unlike most people around here I don't pass judgment until there is a game to judge.
It's not that i'm pissed about them postponing (even though i'm a bit disappointed, but I have no problem waiting), it's about the message that they're giving everyone BY postponing the game.
When they say that the game is 100% feature complete and ready to release in early december, and that when they set the release date they won't miss it, and then they decide to (a week before the release) push back the release, it tells me that they can't live up to their promises.
...And if they can't live up to their promises, what's to say that even half of the things on their feature list (which is the reason darkfall has so many followers) are even available in the game?

The sad thing is ppl like ProfRed try too hard to defend this "game" that is having a hard time trying to show us that it will exist. Us "trolls" for many years have told those fans that it wont release no matter what Tasos says. So far we have been right so they feel the need to bash us with lousy insults that couldnt even offend a 4 yr old.
Give it up fans, cuz the game you want you wont get. You will either get a bug ridden unfinished POS, or scammed. Either way it will end up with us "trolls" telling you that we told you so.

Are you aware that the problems at the moment are mostly about the server hardware, not the actual software? They are a small team, their funds are not infinite. About all of the bigger MMOs have had huge publishers backing them up.
The cause of the problem? The community has well over than quadrupled in the last few months.

Actually the people who see this "game" for the scam that it is have been aware of its false nature for many years now. We have sat by and watch the fans follow this game with their blind faith thinking it will release, and then right when they thought they "won" last year when that god awful trailer came out and said 2008 at the end of it...I even knew it wasnt possible...then they made more excuses....then Tasos says Jan 22nd, and I even knew THAT wasnt possible.
What you seem to misunderstand is that we do not want nor need another DnL/Mourning scam because MMORPG gamers have been through enough in the last few years that they are tired of crap like this happening. If you havent seen by now, most of them on this site alone are already stepping down from being DF fans knowing full well that they do not want to have yet another BS scam happen to them or their money. Or maybe they just listened to those (like myself) who know what DF really is...which isnt a game.
Trust me most of us have had our eye open for some time now. Those of us that made simple observations like Aventurine would need to stress test their servers with live players instead of AI bots. were flamed and labled trolls. Well guess what? Aventurine now states strangely enough they need to delay to stress test their server with live players.
Your the newbie here in the sense you just showed up to defend Darkfall this month. Not to get all high and mighty here but i have been following Darkfall fairly closely for 2 years here and haven't seen you once post before late Dec / early Jan. Granted I know i don't catch all threads but I'm pretty sure if you were a regular poster I'd have seen something from you. So please don't try and state you know how the fan base has behaved over the last year. Hell i remember reading a post from a fan yesterday flaming a poster because he played FFX and even you chimed in that it was a good game.
Those of us who have been here know the fans, if you showed up In early December and said you didn't believe Darkfall would launch on the 22nd any number of fans would have called you a troll and tore into you. No I'm not saying called it vaporware or said it sucks, just simply doubting the words of Taso was enough to get you labled a troll and flamed so please don't come in now when the fans are in a recession (so to say) because they were wrong about their blind faith in the 22nd launch of Darkfall and say the fans are all nice reasonable people because sorry I don't think you have enough experience with them to make that statement with any honesty.
Some posters are indeed trolls and some fans are just as bad. In my book the fanbois and the troll are just 2 sides of the same coin.
Turning a blind eye to doubts and possible problems and instead only posting postive things does not make a MMO good. The company producing the game actually has to do that. A troll saying a game is vaporware will not discourage anyone from actually buying a game once it produced if they are interested. Hell theres even a post in a thread here from nileq (sp?) saying its the trolls fault DF is so over hyped and getting too many customers. So try and actually look at things from a perspective other then the Blind defender of all soon to be released MMO's stance that you seem to claim.

I don't advocate people calling a game crap without actually giving it a try. On the other hand i'm not blind enough to believe that if everyone stays silent or only posts positive things that somehow that will make a game Good. Really the developers are responsible for that.
Perhaps i'm reading you wrong (hey its the internet!) if so i apologise but everyone has opinions good or bad. You seem to be stating only those with good opinions about the game are allowed, and that even if people have facts they should never post anything negative about a game, Oh like say "I don't believe Darkfall will be out on the 22nd because they haven't done any stress testing with live players." because it might hurt it.
Anyway end point players saying a game is crap (IMO) is not what stagnants the genre its the companies producing crappy games that do that. Weither because they had good intentions and simply got over their head, or because they were shady and out to make a buck doesn't make a difference really as well crap is crap either way. (Pardon my french)

Its true i've seen Darkfall fans trolling in Vanguard, and AoC forums saying how crappy that forums game is and how the players should come to Darkfall the really cool greatest sandbox game ever. Seemed a bit zealous to me. <shrug>
Just kill yourself now Mr. jako jako, I can understand you being upset but you need to realize a few a things:
Aventurine isn't a big time company like Blizzard, so it must be hard to coordinate and operate a business while still being able to support the mainframe of the game. To take seven years to develop the game before you, attempt to keep the community updated and involved (remember, small company), feed the press with information, market the game which includes advertising, distributing, research, try and keep up with competitor prices/quality of the game (the publisher probably does most of this, but Aventurine is still involved), etc.
Take everyone of these steps and add more sub-steps such as proper management, human resources, community managment, etc.
Now don't forget, this is a small company, it doesn't have the resources to compete with a multi-millionare/billionare company as Blizzard, nor do I think it even wants to, not because they can't, but because thats not what their trying to do.
Before you go off comparing Aventurine to Blizzard, think about what your really talking about.
Lack of offical Information? Look it up yourself besides copying what the troll next to you is saying. Their is over 600 OFFICAL screenshots, 9 OFFICAL game videos, and about 280 OFFICAL pages of developer journals, articles, and Q&A transcripts (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darkfall), look for them, don't sit here and complain about them.
The few updates aren't good enough for you? Thats your problem, some people enjoy them.

Havn't come across one yet, and when I have they close it because it is probably something that was either answered before in a sticky that says "READ HERE FIRST!" that most people don't bother reading, or it is probably something such as "this game sucks", or "when is it coming out, they lied to us!" etc.

Again, you said how WoW can handle 12 million with great stability, and how Darkfall should be able to support at least 200,000? Lets start off by saying Blizzard has never stated that they have 12 Million ACTIVE PLAYERS each day. They have on the other hand stated they have 12 Million Subscribers, add in gold sellers, alts, storage accounts, and the ones that are sitting their with no one playing them. Now, try doing this thing called research. Go ahead and find multiple server boxes supporting 200,000 people WITH great stability, get the price, then come talk to me. You need to remember, all the money it took to develop the game, publish it, and for all the other small expenses and costs, it has to be hard on a SMALL game company such as Aventurine.
Website shutdowns 2-4 times a week? Oh, you mean the maintenance to help keep the website up and running so people can still view it? Oh oh, and you mean hours worth of work to clear up all the trash posts people like you leave, so they "potential playerbase" doesn't have to go through it all?

Personally I'll say it again for you (I've said it many times before and have never once called DF crap, vaporware etc.) I hope Darkfall comes out and is everything the fans hope. Do I believe it will at this point well thats a different story. Do I rag on it saying it will Fail? Find me a post where i have and i will apologies. Jesus, Ive been reading these forums since the news hit and every single thread has a fan boy who refuses to even think a negative comment about Darkfall never mind type it. They just use the good old
"Ill call this guy a troll, that way i can live in my perfect fluffy world where everything is perfect, Oh look! Its raining strawberries again!"
Seriously, its a simple formula:
post + critical comment = troll.
* Game delayed again (It wasn't meant to happen this time!).
* Pre-Orders (Told it wasn't going to happen)
* Staggered releaseLimited Beta
To even be contemplating such a release is actually really bad. They know how many people have registered for beta, they have known for a while. Its an MMO, 300k people should be a minimum target.... not too much. But wait! Its only beta i hear you cry!.... Its not only beta, the game has been 'Ready for release' for a while now supposedly.
If this is how AV are handling Darkfall now then its how they will handle it if it ever goes live. Have fun waiting 5 months for that patch that's been almost finished for the last 4.

Umm you don't read many of Tasos's posts do you? You know like the one in early December when he said DF was feature complete and could release today with less bugs then most MMO's have a month after launch? Or how unlike other companies they would never have a release date they would not keep and then post the game would be out in 2008 as a officla company stand, then follow it up to announce a jan 22nd release just to miss that as well. Gee sure glade they're better then other MMO companies.
As to active players. Lets use Eve as a example they claim to have 250k subscribers last i checked but yet at any given time I don't think they ever had over 40K on at once (been awhile but last record I saw was 39k some) So even if DF got 200K subscribers were only talking 4)k max on at any given time. Meh only brought that up because you seemed to dwell on it a bit. not even sure the point.
Problem is the Dev/ Tasos stated they didn't need a big beta test as they had AI bots and profeesional paid testers beta'ing DF for months. The fans went so far as to state this was much better then any old beta test. Well guess what right now it seems Aventurine is kinda in mess because it seem they do need beat testers. Give em points for trying out something new Subtract points for being so arrogant they thought they were feature complete and ready to release with no external beta testers testing in December.
Lastly you should never tell someone to kill themselves as part of your arguement it just makes you look Lame, but oh i know the Fans are the reasonable ones here as Profred says.

Do you think WoW could have handled 12 Million people at release? They could barely handle the few hundred thousand they had when it came out. I remember being in massive server queues, crashing servers, and performance problems out the ass. WoW can handle 12 Million users, now, 4-5 years later, because they now have a larger staff, a lot more money, and a lot more infrastructure than they did in 2004.
Darkfall is a lot less people, who created a project with a lot less money. You should find a new hobby because video games get delayed on every platform, not just the PC. How many times has Blizzard delayed a game? That's what I thought. Get a grip, it's a 1 month delay.
PS. Nobody cares if you leave this forum. In fact the more that leave the better. Anyone who is not going to buy the game because of this delay is someone who probably would not have bought it anyways as you are noit the target audience.
