Well of course he's going to talk up the quality of people working on his game. That's just part of hyping a game. Sounds like Hellgate, doomed to fail imo. All the people there are no longer working on whatever game they were, for good reason?
So basically you're arguing that Curt Schilling's game is going to dominate the market even though we haven't the slightest clue what it will be about? That strikes me as rather strange.
Indeed I find this revelation odd myself. More importantly though why do people want to see WOW's demise anyway? If EQ1's any indication WOW will be around for another 5 years. The ole girl ain't going anywhere anytime soon besides it's fans are mostly exclusive to WOW.

The rest of the Diablo team made Guildwars and it sold well, so it doesn't prove anything.
And there are way more reasons possible than they were fired, maybe Blizzard payed too low salery, maybe it was the same reason that the Arenanet crew quited (Strain was the first lead programmer on Wow): Blizz forced them to do everything exactly their way. Maybe they had a great idea and Blizz didn't want to publish it.
Of course the game might suck but your reason why it will is just as bad as OPs reasons why it will be the next great game. We just don't know.
It will be worth to look into the game once we know more about it, next Wow, next TR or something in between, only time can tell.
Meh... I'll say no interest in this for me until 2011.
All star team? Curt Schilling of all people should know, you can have all-stars on your team and STILL lose to inferior talent if they are better organized. It's happened to him in the past.
One or a couple of those guys could die between now and then, or quit to do their own thing, then what'll the game like? Or someone (KOTOR) or whoever could make the 'next Wow' before he does, beating him to the punch. Way too many variables this far out. Simply too far out for me to even entertain this one.
I DO hope he has a nice steady plan. Being a gamer, he's HAD to have noticed Warhammer and AoC this year and what they didn't bring to the table and what rushing gets you. Especially now in the off-season.
I hope he does very well, thought. We can always use another good MMO.
it has not been announced yet but wont be around atleast 2012 the develper is studio 38....want to know why is will kill WoW 60% of the people working there were the ones who made WoW...and it will be WoW 2.0 in everyway.
we will never see the demise of WoW type games until the industry is worn done to only hardcore fans of MMO's end of story
That game was said to be ready for 2010,at least when i last visited the site. You think the original WOW staff will make this game?lol that staff does not have a clue, that is why WOW took on the former EQ guys to steal the ideas from that game.
I have not yet to this day seen one thing Blizzard can do for themselves, they do not know much about developing ideas what so ever, they COPY ideas.Perhaps this could be a WOW 2.0,that does not bode well for gaming, because WOW's true success had nothing to do with the game at all. When Schilling's game comes out it will not be a 2 game race between them and EQ the way it was for Blizzard and WOW.
At that point in gaming history, there was a ton of NEW mmo gamers just starting to hit mainstream[thanks to EQ],now they are all gaming and the NEW influx of players is limited. This means you will not have 10-12 million NEW gamers on a frenzy to charge the first well marketed game they see on the internet.
ANY game and i mean ANY will have a VERY small pool to draw from, players will NOT leave their old games, they have time invested and many high level players and many friends. The next game that will succeed is when WOW players finally tire of wow and perhaps lose many of their friends, that makes for several million gamers hitting mainstream again. It might also take some HUGE gimmick like maybe gaming on TV,as bill gates eluded to MANY years ago[surprised it has not happened yet] or some big sponsors move in and make it profitable, like PRO gaming in FPS's.
There used to be this gamer that was on TV and stuff that made around 100k a year pro gaming in first person shooters like Quake/Counterstrike/Unrealtournament.His name was Fatal1ty but there was a few others as well. This is the kind of thing that could move MMO's if they were done right to support money making.
BTW this game will look and be nothing like WOW,he has the comic book guy taking care of the artwork,no more orcs and gnomes. If anything it will be a EQ clone witch is what WOW copied, but will look fresh and different i am sure.My opinion is that it may be a little too much like that superheroes mmo that is already out, name slips me.I think this because the game play will center around the artwork witch of course we all know is basically all super heroes,by MacFarlane.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Originally posted by Loke666 And millions of people are playing different Warhammer games, the reason it didn't sold so well was because it was too close to wow, pissing of the old Warhammer fans (like me). If you ever played the pen and paper RPG you would know what I am talking about. Besdides AoC looks awesome and are not doing well either.
I would rather say it didn't sell well because it is a PvP game, and most MMOG players shy away from PvP.
And I would have loved to see a Warhammer MMOG based on the pen and paper role-playing game. Unfortunately WAR was based (I believe) on Warhammer Battle.

So, it's like the people at hellgate all coming from blizzard and therefore having the talent and management skills and vision to create the next great Diablo?
If old games like UO, Asheron's call and EQ are around then WoW will most assuredly be around just due to the number of players.
Well that is true, but 38 has all MVP "All-Star" Devs from other compenys. But who knows it sounds sweet and i hope it will rock. But you never know.
I believe that was the perceived strength of Sigil too. While I enjoy(ed) Vanguard as a game, I can't see that it hurt WoW much. ;-)
Edit to add in a prediction of my own...
The two next games that have a decent chance of significantly impacting WoW's numbers (besides normal churn due to game age): Star Wars: The Old Republic, and Diablo III.
The only thing that could kill wow is wow itself. That would have to be one terrible expansion and even then it could still limp along like some games out there. The only other way wow dies is if they come out with wow 2 and close down wow's original servers.
In America I have bad teeth. If I lived in England my teeth would be perfect.
Only thing that will kill WoW are players' growing apathy towards it. It will happen and I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet. Look up "vanilla" in the dictionary and it should have an entry for World of Warcraft.

Perhaps because the previous game is done?

There will never be another WoW. Ever.
