Darkfall drops off the hype chart

ianicusianicus Member UncommonPosts: 665

So, I read a post on here, I think it was probably about a month or two ago, some child yammering about how "oh snap, look DF is on top of the hype chart, DF rockzors, DF is da bomb....DF this DF that, DF kills all other MMO!!" I log in today....well look at that no DF on the hype chart at all. How satisfying. The devs need to stop screwing around with thier potential customer base, or interest will wain (as it is now according to the hype meter), I know it sure as heck is for me.

The hype meter on mmorpg.com has never been an accurate meter of genuine community interest, and it never will be.

Well, I have to say that Darkfall is the first hyped mmorpg I wont be pre ordering or buying in the first month after it's release...

  • Thoric485Thoric485 Member UncommonPosts: 525

Well, it's still the one with the most unique hits for the month, the week and today. But hype meters and unique hits on some site don't mean shit anyway.

To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!
On we sweep with threshing oar, our only goal will be the western shore."

That is only because the hype chart doesn't have a white border

I dont get the hype meter. Are people interested in a game or in the "politics" around it?

As long nothing changes in the feature list, the game stays the same. Same for movies, music, books and so on.

I am for the other hand glad that Darkfall is getting less hyped at the moment. As a small scale buisness It's probably better to have a small and controlled launch. They don't have the money to expand the game massively to thereafter see people leave. If it turns out to be a great game, people will come. If it doesn't, people will leave. I'd say it's better long-term to have a small scale launch. Thus the current hype doesn't matter.

Cannot figure why people likes to start threads about how hype is falling or rising. The only thing one should care about is how the game turned out.

Devs said  game got hyped "despite our best efforts"

They must be satisfied  now  seeing it leaving hype radar..

as is Xfire...yet we still see thread after thread of these stupid arguments using both as 'hard statistics'

    MMO wish list:

    -Changeable worlds
    -Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

Give DF a chance OP. Maybe it will be a great game, maybe it will not. Who knows. Anyway lets hope it is, and you gank fools will like it. Hail the Ganksters, they were all in Meridian 59, like Arat was. I hated that guy!! But hopefully you fellows will enjoy the game. and I will surely not be in your community , your game, or whatever. Have fun Gankin the low levels.

Yup. Darkfall dropped off the hype-meter, which is a tool to rate your own personal interest or opinions of the game.

What I'm more interested is the fact that Darkfall is still well ahead on the "most pupular" list for hits. Looks like more and more people are either checking out, or following closely the release of Darkfall.

At least X-Fire figures use actual data gathered from actual players in actual games.  You can use it for generalized information, but not hard facts.  You can't even use the hype meter for generalizations...its too easy to exploit its numbers.

The fact that Tasos has announced they have 200K plus people showing interest and that it has by far exceeded their expectations you can bet your bottom dollar that they are shitting them self trying to prepare for the onslaught which is now obviously going to happen. Even if his figures are over exaggerated which no one knows for sure but him, this game has had the desired effect of causing rumbles in the jungle of the MMO weather good or bad.

Funny thing is everyone who has been commenting are interested in the game even the ones who claim they are not, the reason for this is, should it turn out to deliver what it claims it will, they all want a bit of this action too from day one. So weather this site or any other have a hyper meter is irrelevant IMHO.

This game will launch and either succeed or fail based of weather they have achieved to implement what they claimed to have created within the structure of the basic game play, if they have managed to get everything in the game they claimed to have this will indeed be a first and a unique feat indeed and would there for deserve to succeed for sure.  I like many others am somewhat sceptical but remain positive until otherwise proved they have failed to provide the game play we all hope and seek from a new MMO as we are all fed up of being ripped off by many of the uber game companies over the last few years.

So what we as a community need to be doing rather than arguing between each other is to seek to use our voices to attempt to create a world wide governing body who are able by law to prevent these companies delivering poor products and continually getting away with our hard earnt money without punishment for sure, after we pay our money up front and then buy a product we are not entitled to a full refund due to the fiasco of a so called 30 free days which is bollocks to say the very least. If you buy a product which does not do what it says on the box we should all be entitled to a full refund or at the very least appropriate to what is missing from any future game.

Games companies weather MMO or any other gene protect their products refusing refunds once we open the product, truth is in the current financial environment these companies need to start falling in line with general daily products which have far better protection to the comsumers, why should they be any different from the rest of consumer products because they are digital.

This for me would prevent either fanboi or trollers becoming continusly personal and give us all protection to to be able to debate digital content in the future and I feel this would also make for better community relations on many boards and gaming sites around the world...

Wake up people, Darkfall has started its dark fall into hall of shame along together with Dark and Light and Mourning. The drop from the hype chart is the first sign, more is to follow.
