Can everyone PLEASE stop complaining? I have some reasons for you to SHUT THE FUCK UP.

1. The number of people in the forum multiplied by SIX it went from 50k to 300k in just 3 months, Aventurine didn't expect this many people. Aventurine's plan is to give an awesome game, they don't care about the number of subscribers, only that people are enjoying the game.

2. They have never delayed the release except in Dec. 08, also, see #1 that many new people is sure to put pressure on you.

3. The publisher, yes, yes, we know that it's a small one, but it's there isn't it? The point is, it joined late, Aventurine thought they'd have more time with the publisher, however, during the holiday season, the publisher guys didn't work, Aventurine did.

Now, can you please be quiet?

For lazy readers: Forums went from 50k to 300k in 3 months. Only delayed release once. The publisher joined late.

    Complaining about complaining lol.

    1. Aventurine failed in predicting that the game would get more popular as it would announce to realease? wow... oh their plan is to make an awesome game? wow.. great finally a developer that wants to make an awesome game unlike the other ones. They dont care about the number of subscribers? What world are you living in, it sounds like a happy place.... and obviously if they make a awesome game there will be more subscribers.

    2. I havent bothered with the history of darkfall but I'm pretty sure you are wrong on this, doesnt the latest delay also count btw? that makes it atleast 2 then?

    3. People are complaining about this?

Now, Please dont write anything more, okey?

For lazy op: stfu and gtfo.

Oh, and I hope like hell that the community from mmorpg.com stays in the it's current mode forever. Because seriously, if we're this critical and anal about every news update, feature, article and screenshot that comes from an indy developer, the big companies should have no show in ever releasing another shitty money-sink MMO.

They dont care about subscribers so let be only 50K users and not 300K ,Who told u that are u part of that company or do u know for a fact. Are they are running a charity for MMO players here .

Hmm, this one's grammar and spelling is typical for the internet, now to decipher it...

Aha! The reason that there is 300k and not 50k is that people WANT there to be a game, Aventurine has to keep up with the demand, they cannot have only 50k in, they have to give the people what they want. Basic logic and common sense, at least for people that aren't morons.

you get what you give -- if you're developing a game for a decade and you can't ever be bothered to release ANY information, or even update your website/faq for years... then you, yourself, are bringing all this upon yourself.

and what features?  i read all sorts of features on the outdated darkfall webpage, but i don't see evidence of most of those features in the darkfall video.

Yes, yes we know they don't update much, they have been working a lot, not much time to update the website, besides they said they're updating it soon. I said that once BEFORE this time they have delayed, so yes twice, but my original wording clearly stated that.

  • shad0wyoneshad0wyone Member Posts: 20

Still, I stand by my point, Aventurine never promised a release date, only beta dates, and frankly Darkfall was a basement project until 2003.

EDIT: Also, getting a publisher that lets you keep digital rights and all that is hard to do, the last thing Darkfall needs is t be ruined by SoE, sure it'd get out faster, but again, ruined.

the better part of a decade in development would demand that your website statement be dismissed.  if you're that busy for that many years, you just don't care or don't have a product.

you have nothing invested in this game,

    it is not your game,

    it is not your girl/boy-friend,

it does not owe you money,

you do not own this game,

you have no character(s) in this game (therefore no emotional investment in your avatar) and if you DID, it's pre-beta, your character(s) will be wiped.

tasos is not a god, darkfall is not a religion.

tasos is a big boy, he does not need to be defended by someone that does not work at the same company as he.

tasos has a lot more information than you or i, and if he can't be bothered to release any information; that is his problem and fault and not something for an outsider (such as you or i) to defend.

i could go on, but at this point, someone either gets it, or doesn't.

In addition, computer-controlled mobs will attack player cities if nearby, and will also fight nearby enemy mobs. Monsters range in innate aggression levels and social dependence, which affects their likeliness to initiate attacks with other players/mobs, run away, call for help, etc. NPCs in Darkfall are also known to have their own kill-on-sight lists, and will loot player corpses of items they can use. NPC camps whose numbers are repeatedly thinned through player actions will eventually relocate to other parts of the world that satisfy their preferred habitat.
Now that is some cool shiznit.

out of curiousity - has that feature been demonstrated in an official darkfall video?

the website and people talking, say a LOT... i've yet to see any of these wonderful items in an official video, nor any proof other than people quoting the website or something they heard someone say, which was repeated from someone else, who knows this girl, who dated this guy, who THOUGHT he might've read something about it online somewhere (but then it got deleted or something).

It is hard to demonstrate those kinds of features without showing the statistics of the game and such.

As for the Darkfall religion thing, it is quite obvious that it is not a religion, anybody who thinks so is crazy. Nobody worships Tasos/Darkfall/Aventurine or whatever else. I am speaking from what I have seen of Darkfall, and Tasos's updates. I have seen the increase in "forumfallers" in the past months, do you realize how many threads have been locked? It's insane, I remember when there was 50k, 6 times the activity in 3 months, SIX times, its difficult for a small company to prepare themselves for that.

Tasos also promised he'd never give out a release date until he was 100% sure he could keep it. Oh but it's okay, he can break promises because it was just sooo unexpected and I'm sure that the 300K forum users just popped up overnight, right? Oh and their publisher just decided on January 14th, the night before the delay announcement, that they couldn't handle it, so Tasos is just a poor, honest guy who was screwed by everyone but himself.

    Okay.

A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

well i will agree that many people complain too much but if you think they do not care about how many subscribers than you are delusional.  this is a business and for them to keep updates on their product they need as many subscribers as possible because of the financial reasons.  they havent worked on darkfall for years to not expect a big reward which is money period.  yes i am sure they want a great game but they also want money too.  that is the case with any business somebody starts.

If you said 5 million, ok, no developer would be prepared for that. But 300K for a release that's available world wide for anyone that wants to access the EU servers? Come on.

If you say, well the DF team has never released a game before and they don't really know what they are doing, I'll buy that. But with their budget they could have hired someone that did know what they are doing.

Ive been wondering the answer to your second paragraph for a number of years. With the way Aventurine has handled Darkfall, the only logical explanation that really accounts for the entire debacle is inexperience. You would however have thought they could dig up enough resources for experienced employees to help ease the game along. But then again, this is the company that was quoted as being feature complete and ready to go in 2003

Just guessing here but to  the lack of experience adds  the idea that you don't care for community if you don't release the product first. Having only 1 person doing all the main communication for years shows that..

But at same time i have o admit thats what  hyped me even more cause of all the "professional approach" to this barely anything good came out last years ..Aventurine approach was  unorthodox but refreshing for a long time..but for release the lack of professionalism towards the community feels  not refreshing anymore ..lol

    so whats the truth?

they need money to build their game or they build a game to make money? both?

they don't need as many subscribers as possible because they can't handle all of them at this point!!

DO they need to take a loan and open 20+ servers, and then 1 month ater to start closing them and merging them?? how is this a good bissiness? its plain stupid!

You know, there are artists that write songs to make money....and there are artists that make music, that eventually make money, but this is not why they wrote the damn song in a first place!

and yeah...everyone likes money!..just not everyone is ready to sell their grandmother to get them.
