I'm not giving up on Darkfall because I'm very interested to see the whole debacle unfold.
    1. Darkfall releases at some unspecified date in the future.
    2. Zillions of people buy boxes, make characters
    3. Much ganking ensues.  Cries of "This is a griefers game!  I QUIT!" ensue
    4. Bored WoW'ers go back to WoW
    5. Some time later, bored gankers quit and start hyping up the next open pvp game
    6. Servers merge
    7. Darkfall slowly evolves into a fiercely competitive pvp game
    8. Remaining subscribers form the core of a new playerbase that revolves less around ganking (though it will still happen to people who don't protect themselves, of course), and more around territory and resource control.
    9. Darkfall slowly grows
    10. Five years later, it has about 400-500K subs and is considered a classic
    11. Everyone who signed up in the first week and quit at stage 3 wonders what happened.

    There's your debacle for you.

AoC seems to be on stage 7 of your debacle.

    interesting.

Actually AoC would seem to be wasting no time going to 8 at quite the feverish pace. First weekend since merges on crimmeria and guild alliances are forming and four battlekeep sieges occured.

Darkfall looks like it has an amazing foundation to become a fantastic MMORPG, everything else can be tweaked along the way. We just have to cut the developers some slack, they aren't some big gaming company like Blizzard after all. They are just a small team that works out of Greece! They did make a mistake by hyping everyone up to only move the release date back, and they don't have the coolest website in the world, and the graphics engine may not blow some peoples minds(although I think it looks fine) but they were one of us, they grew up on MMORPGs.
So are we really going to give up on Darkfall...just because we can't start playing until Febuary?

You said it yourself: They are just a small team that works out of Greece!

Thats why this game most likely will fail. You need experienced developers to create good games.

Imo is a feasible scenario as far as they deliver the game with a reasonable level of quality and the main features implemented at launch.

To the OP: although I’m full of doubts about DF, the prospect still seems to be really interesting to me. I'm not in a hurry to play it. I'll be very careful when they launch, no pre-order and may be I’ll wait till phase 5 (imo just a question of few weeks or a couple of months) my friends seems to be in agreement with this.

But anyway, I’m not giving up. I'm so patient.

Im affraid that Darkfall will be the new Dark 'n light

I gave up on Darkfall ever being a real game 3 years ago or more.

They will keep pushing date back till investors stop writing them checks then the game might have a Dark and Light release if you are lucky and a Mourning release most probably. In other words you might get a download or a unlabled CD in the mail and the server will go down a week later

This thing has epic scam and steaming heap written all over it in three foot high red neon lights. Until a major reputable site actually see the game running it is still hopeware, vaporware, scamware. Hope the people who pre order take a lesson from Farlan did with D&L and use a pre paid credit card.

    I miss DAoC

    Darkfall doesn't really exist.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

    Yes.

I think Tasos will be our next Gaute Godager, well i think Tasos will be even worse.

I heard about Darkfall for the first time over 4.5 years ago when i was playing Shadowbane on Damination (EU).

If you have followed this game since then, alot seems very strange, i lost my trust in adventurine and Tasos long time ago.

GLHF --> to all people waiting for this game.

this is basically how most Niche games go (as Darkfall will be) and i dont see it as a bad thing...its just the 1st year is usually hell for just about everyone

    MMO wish list:

    -Changeable worlds
    -Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

Well personally I think it's amazing that a lil kebab shop owner can get a game to this late stage on limited funds. If it doesnt launch whats the big deal anyway.

He probbly still makes the best doner in his village so he will be happy either way.

Gaming since 1985 and still going strong.

Definitely not giving up on Darkfall. So would have voted "no" if the option was available!

The only way to see if this game lives up to my requirements and expectations of an MMO is to play it.

Which I will be at the earliest opportunity.

By the end of the week the beta/ free trial is suppose to begin. Regardless of whether the NDA is still active or not, once a large amount of ppl start stress testing it there WILL be leaks all over the web. At this point I think it will have a more accurate assessment as to whether the game has potential or if it is a total flop.

Until we start getting actual feedback from ppl playing the game  it is all positive/negative hype from fanbois/trolls. I want this game to succeed, but I would rather get my information from those who have actually PLAYED it. NOT by those who want to hype it based on there already established negative or positive opinions.
