So, if Tasos is asking for highend computers to run his game, then i should be in for sure.
    GTX 280 btw.
But, i signed up late, so who knows.

    Congratulations, you're a tool!

Starting on January 22nd there will be a Darkfall trial with the distribution of the release candidate client allowing thousands of players to sample the game for free, help us stress test our servers and test the final features of the game.

Read those words VERY carefully and see if you can catch the hidden out they gave themselves in there......

"Starting on January 22nd .......... DISTRIBUTION OF THE RELEASE CANDIDATE CLIENT"

Yes it will allow thousands to sample the game assuming that they let them in or that the game is running. They NEVER stated that on the 22nd people WOULD be able to play the game just that they would distribute the release candidate.

We shall see in 3 days..............

It’s important to understand that there are well over 200 thousand applications by players wanting to get into Darkfall. This number makes it unrealistic to distribute the client and to open up our servers to everyone. We’ll try to accommodate as many players as are possible for us to manage at this stage. Even so, the demand exceeds our current capacity. Interest in Darkfall has surpassed all our expectations to the point that we may need to manage our release differently.
Based on those comments, we can surmise the following

The free trial is neither public, nor open.   Instead, it's essentially a closed beta.  Aventurine is still actively accepting beta applications, has limited slots available and is managing the invitation process.

The client will not be made available for public downloading

Since the free trial is esentially a closed beta, there's a possibility that an NDA will be enforced

The only thing that will change after the 22nd is that MAYBE we will get a few more leakers as I do believe they will let in a few more Beta testers.

Other than that... I don't really expect a lot to change come the 22nd.

    Source?

or you still "POSTIIVE" the game is going to be released on the 22nd?

i didnt say that a week ago i said they willa t least do a open beta type thing at least on the 22nd i ne wbefore the delaya nnuncmeant that they was proly goign to delay if they was smart but i didnt say anything

Is english your second language?  I'm thinking Greek is your first?  I usually don't criticize spelling, but you really make it even hard to understand what you are trying to say.

No way there is going to be an 'open' free trial or beta on the 22nd.  More than likely it will be the exact same people who are in the current 'beta' and they will just change the name to 'free trial'.  There will still be a NDA for them, and gaming sites will also not be part of the new 'free trial'.  So in essence, everything will be exactly the way it is now.

umm no they are doing the free trial with as many people as they can support to stress test and test high end content if you chose to be thick headed its not anyones problem. but yours

With an NDA in place, Tasos can say there's people, lots of people, in the Beta, and no one could prove him wrong, because the lack of beta leaks and etc could be pointed towards the NDA. When in fact, there is 0 people in the beta and this is all a scam to get people thinking they could have gotten in, but weren't fast enough.
The end result is people believing he actually let people in in the first place, and that they just missed it, when he didn't let anyone in at all and is just saying he did to get people to believe the game is real. Why would he do this? To maximize the amount of Pre-Orders. The more people that believe they actually had a chance to get into beta on the 22nd, the more that will believe there is enough of a game to Pre-order.
I hope I'm wrong, but Tasos hasn't given me any reason to be confident in their game. I've been the MMO scams before and this one smells like one. Whether or not it is remains to be seen, and I really hope it's not, because DF is everything I want in a game. I guess we'll see.
What's funny is that using common sense judgement, I knew the game wouldn't release on the 22nd of January before December even ended. How did I know? Because there wasn't one lick of official, press breaking, information that every other legitimate MMORPG has 1 month from release.

I will know if people gets invited i have a friend that is in the beta  and ill have a decent chance of getting in this free trial

Most companies remove the NDA just before, or coinciding with, Open Beta. The massive influx of people leads to too many opportunities for leaked information, so it makes sense. I've been in almost a dozen open betas, and I have never "physically" signed anything, so it's odd you should state that.

I have to agree with an above poster... you are trying to say a lot of good about Darkfall, but your casual disregard for punctuation and grammar are making it impossible to understand you.

Anyhow, I don't care to join the beta myself. Playing in betas has proven to only make me resent doing the same content/quests again during initial release, and I "burn out" on each MMORPG that much faster then.

While I'm cautiously optimistic about Darkfall, there is a part of me that still believes it will either never come out, or deliver on none of its promises. I hope neither of those are true!

umm i have a job...a very well paying one...especially when you are the consultant for some small companies you might have heard of: exxonmobil, pfizer, and a few other teeny tiny ones.

i make enough money to afford this game in about 2 hours of work.....unfortunately, i have better common sense than to throw my money away for no reason.

The whole wording of the 'trial' setup just reeks of smoke and mirrors, and if the NDA stays in place for it, the Tasos can spin any sort of numbers he wants to make it look as though thousands of new testers have entered the game and that all is going well and remind people to continue to preorder.

Darkfall is rapidly approaching the 11th hour, and the longer the NDA stays up, the more suspicious people should be of both the game and it's developers.

  • TerranahTerranah Member UncommonPosts: 3,575

Not really.  I signed up long time ago and never heard from them.  I'll just wait for release and see what develops :)

and its this kind of thinking that leads companies to charging for open betas and using pre orders to begin with.......This is why we get crap like AoC and WAR is because guys like you just hand over the money with thinking its cheaper than buying rounds at the pub.......Most of us are probably a little more careful with how we throw our money around and wait to see some reviews and opinions on things before handing them that 50 dollars.

The computers DXdiag with which I applied to beta with died recently last year, so I would have to resurrect it with a new hardvrive and few other non essential bits and bobs in the unlikely event that I did get in.

Unless of course they are past hardware specific testing and its no longer relevant, in which case it will rest in cannibalized pieces.

  • EridanixEridanix Member Posts: 426

I signed up for Beta, and my DxDiag is strong enough to enter the beta, but i think there will be no such open beta but "open", likewise.

If i enter someday in this game i will renegate from my former - it means, my current skepticism -.

Another release date delay. And it goes on...

It is a question of fangs.

Oh.. Look. It's cute.  He's making fun... Oh.. it's adorable!!  Look at him try to start an internet fight..  What a silly head..

I regret buying Final Fantasy 11.  and I have a Job.  One that pays well, too.  Just because you have the money to blow on a video game, doesn't mean you should.

But with that being said, I'll buy Darkfall Blindly without trying it.  If it's good, then I'll play it.  If it's not.. that I have the right to have an opinion to say so.

Actually, if a movie sucks, you can demand a refund.  You just have to leave before the movie finishes.

And it's not about getting something for free, like you put it, it's about holding a company responsible for what they produce. I don't see why so few people get that.  Laws (at least in the US) are in place to keep businesses honest.  You can't make claims to sell a product, then not  back up those claims.  It's false advertising.  If you go on record saying You will "try the game before you buy it" then not offer that as an option.. your first statement is a lie.  The person you are telling to "get a job" is right.  People should really re-think preordering this game with as little information is out, as well as buying anything from a company that has the track record of another Fly by night MMORPG company.

I kinda look at a P2P mmo as an investment of my money and free time. So if i'm going to be vested into a game I would like to know what i'm getting and paying into. I don't like the idea of wasting or spending my money on a product or company that sucks.

Movies get trailers and reviewed prior to release and these things are free. So your point is kinda lacking.

Given Av's past I expect maybe a couple of thousand in a Closed Beta extension. Just take every thing they say and minimize performance while maximizing secrecy and you have at least a ball park guess.

And no I do not expect an invite any more than I expect to win the Power Ball.

I remember right b4 Warhammer released the Dev's said that the beta was all about 'polish, polish, polish'. I bought into the hype and bought the game. The game was fun until you actually started the main feature of RvR. After that it was not 'polish, polish, polish'. It was 'crash to desktop, crash to desktop, crash to desktop'.

I'll wait and see darkfall goes, and save myself some money by not ordering it if it is bunk.
