Hello there,
I have played almost every MMORPG in the world, and I liked World of Warcraft and Lord of the Rings Online the most.. I quit WoW, becouse we went on a 2 week vacation and somehow when we came back I wasn't in the mood for WoW any more
And with LOTRO, i was in my other home at Germany, I bought Lotro and MoM there, I played a week I got into level 30 something, and I flew back to here my home country Finland, I tried to install LOTRO but I got so damn many errors because this computer just sucks big time
But now my computer is like new, because we got it reformated, and now I don't know that which game should I start again, lotro with mom with a lvl 30, or wow with tbc and level 70 (<- yep, I don't have WotlK, so I'm gonna purchase it if I start WoW)
So which game should I start again? LOTRO vs. WoW
Thanks,
Halahazan

Assuming you tend to like both games equally, go with WoW for variety of setting, more PvP areas, little hassle finding groups or a guild, and, with Lich King, possibly the best music in any game since Guild Wars Factions. You'll also be giving your money to a company that doesn't shut down their servers when a game stops selling, as Turbine did with Asheron's Call 2.

Atlantean, Tyranny, Malton
Well, if you've played both games it's really a matter of preference. IMO, LOTRO beats WoW on all fronts other than PVP. Plus reading the trade chat on WoW makes you lose IQ points.

Do you have any ties with the communities of either game?
Any friends offline or online playing either?
Well..
For the communities, I had tons of friends and mates around everywhere in WoW becouse I played it for 'bout 2 years, but now I havent played WoW for 3/4 of a year so i guess most of my friends have quit WoW also or they have kicked me from the guild (just like in Guild Wars when I started that again) And in Lotro I didnt have lots of friends becouse I didn't play it so long, but I had a really awesome guild, but they have also kicked me...
But in general commnity I personally like WoW, becouse there are lots of people talking everykind of stuff, unlike in Lotro, where the people just talk with ''good behavior'' or just being quiet all the time, well, maybe I picked the wrong server..
But eh, still more ideas are welcomed!
Sincerely,
Me
if you still have the urge for WoW then stick with it. Once that dies down (and it will, trust me) move over to Lotro. If your lucky you might get 6 months to a year out of WoW and when you move to Lotro their will be preparing for their new expansion (or at the very least released a dew more zones).
MMO wish list:
-Changeable worlds
-Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads
WOW = silly cartoon world, easy mode, fast and polished movement/combat systems, freedom to explore, lots of other players.
LOTRO = legendary world, medium difficulty, clunky movement/combat systems, very linear and controlled gameplay, not as many players around.
That's about the best I can sum it up.
Really, I think WOW is the superior game. Lotro can sometimes give you the feeling that you are a spectator in a story rather than a free-spirited adventurer in a world.
The game that should have been would be Blizzard desiging an MMO around Middle Earth. But Turbine got the license and that's that.
I've been trying to explain how I feel in LOTRO...that sort of get's closer too it.
