Heh....you should check out the Acclaim boards.

Half the population (about 34 people I think) are complaining about Acclaims pathetic release...or lack of one.

The other half are complaining about the complainers....which is actually quite pathetic if one actually thinks about it.

It's quite commical to read all of the flames there.  No differing of opinions allowed.

Only thing that you said that is reasonable. Cause it is the only thing that has an opinion attached to it
I don't quite understand what the purpose of the game is.  And I really didn't invest a lot of time playing it.  But just at character creation, for example, you not only choose your toon's appearance, but you also choose the armor your toon will wear.  I realize the armor is aesthetic, but is that how your character will look from the time you start playing the game until end-game?
I am quite aware you don't know the purpose. Time playing is evident by your comments.
And please don't nag me about armor.  EVERYONE wants to get a new piece of armor, whether it be for stats, or for how cool it looks, or a combination of the two.
    ? Your point?
Armor is, as far as i know, the only VISUAL way to show that you are progressing in the game (unless you have a floaty name with your level tacked on to it).  Your character advances in skill or rank or level, you get access to better armor.  Did I miss something, or does TCOS not offer this?
Yes you get need armor and some sets that change your appearence but not your abilities. That is what i like the most. You have to be able to play not grind with buddies in an instance to have 10000 more mana than anyone else.
And the amazing new revolutionary combat system, isn't really all that amazing.  It's very easy and basically holds the player's hand.  It basically puts all of your skills into defined slots, which can only be accessed in a certain order.  Well... don't we - in many of the games we play - already use our skills in a specific order?  What's new about this?  It's basically a pretty, revolving action bar that holds the ALT/SHIFT/CTRL button for you (in the sense of accessing your skills from alternate action bars assigned the ALT/SHIFT/CTRL keys.  I don't literally mean that the TCOS's action bar holds those keys).
You actually don't understand the concept. The rotating bar with aiming and movements adds a layer of stratergy and planning to the game that no other game imo has.  Maybe Guild Wars to a point but that is not really the same either cause it is not just the deck but how u set it up and how  familar  u are to change how u play on the run in a fight. Plus the order of how u lay it out is all important to make u click less and aim more.  You got to plan and really know your char to be successful.
I don't know, take what I say for what it's worth.  The above are just my personal opinions and my personal experience.  I had hoped, a couple years ago when I first read about this game, that it would be great.  But when I finally got the chance to play, I was quickly disappointed.
This game has a deep level of understanding needed and thought. it is not cookie cutter. Your opinion is not well thought out nor is it even remotely complete.

Keeping these things in mind I am glad you will give it another go.

I apologize if my opinion angered you. It seems it is impossible for everyone to share the same opinion, and as such, anger is bound to present itself.

Forgive me if I write angry, that was not my intent.

I don't know where you would get anger from.  I think it was very Vulcan like, if you get my drift. Your opinion was that the game was terrible in essence and I simply stated that based on what you said it does not seem to me that you understand the concept of the game mechanics. I think you played the game with the previous MMOs or games you have played in mind rather than the new concepts of TCoS. These were meant to be statements by me and you may dispute them in conversation if you wish. If I am wrong please tell me why I am. I am happy that will give it a go again and I hope you leave other game concepts behind when u do so that u may see TCoS as a new and inovative system.

I marvel at the concept that a difference of opinion automatically means that someone is a flamer. When one has a difference in opinion we are obliqued to present a coherent set of statements that try to present facts to back up our conclusion. There are many people who seem unable to do this. To point out that a person does not present his argument in a convincing way is not a flame but a retort. And sometimes retorts are sharp like a knife because they are revealing. You call it flaming I call it lively debate.

Like in your above post...could you tell me where you got your information of 34 people from? Is that an opinion or is that a fact?

That's the trouble with the Internet, we can read the words someone is thinking, but we can't read the emotions.

My words were a retort to the OP's original claim: "This game is the WoW-Killer!"

I will say here, I am not a fan of WoW, and I extremely dislike the gameplay in WoW, therefore I do not play WoW.  However, I must respect a game and a game studio that has taken the gaming industry by storm, as well as introduced millions of players to a new type of gameplay.

The WoW-killer will be a game that provides as much and more content as WoW, while still catering to niche gamers.  WoW has a lot to offer, and it will take a behemoth of a game to beat it.  Many races and classes to choose from, in-depth crafting systems, many skills to train and master, landbased and flying mounts, PVP (not very good though), and the list goes on.

The fact is, many MMORPG gamers have been introduced to the industry via WoW.  If they tire of WoW and are looking for something different, they're going to expect their new game to have equivalent or better features than WoW.

So, this is the question that must be answered: does TCOS offer as much or more than WoW?  Perhaps I should have presented my argument in a better format when I made my earlier post.  I was expressing that a "glorified action bar," mediocre-interesting graphics, and the whole armor deal weren't quite enough to draw in a huge crowd.  All of the ideas are great, but I don't believe they are enough to usurp the millions of MMO gamers.

Thank you for a very insightful and enjoyable (to read) response. When I know the context in which you write, everything makes perfect sense. I concur with your statement and opinion.

The last paragragh >>Although I agree with your conclusion, I also don't agree that this will draw millions of players from WOW, I was trying to say that the potential and appeal of the system really lies within its depth. It is not a superficial game, like WOW and many MMOs can be. It is like a good reaux, the longer it cooks the deeper on more layering the flavor becomes. At first taste it is just ok but give a few seconds and the complexity comes through. The wow is later not at the beginning. Also understanding the workings of the system opens up possibilities that at first clance were not even imagined. People in general (that is a very general, but a true statemnet) like something that gives them a wow first. Complexity and depth are secondary or unimportant to them. The armour system allows no greatness through armour stats and supports the combat system. It still allows tho for fashion.

So I completely concur that this is not a WOW killer but I would again hope that you give it another go. Anyone who could present a competant and eloquent presentation as above could possibly like the wow later rather than at the start. (I did get a chuckle out of that last sentrence.)

I strongly advice all people that are unsure if to try TCOS or not but were interested in game by reading about it or seeing movies to go to official Acclaim forums and read the news there.

This game is NOT done yet. Wait a bit more, be patient, IP ban is going to be removed, just wait for Acclaim to release that interesting game and test it - beggining is absolutely free, if you will be still interested after reaching max lvl of free content - give it a go for a month, it would still be much less then bying other game from start....

EDIT: About wow-killers. Cmon ppl its not that hard to understand that for certain ppl (for some games quite many ppl) games like lotro, war, aoc already are wow-killers. Its all personal taste if next game you try gives you more pleasure and fun = its killer of the game you played b4. So if i try tcos soon and i like it more than wow that means tcos = wow-killer for me. Same for all ppl that will swap or join tcos.

And for f*** sake please stop complaining, flaming, etc.... instead go have some fun either irl or in game you currently playing

    Hradi Til Alur !

With the UK apparently not being part of the EU for TCoS (along with half of europe?) and not being able to sign up and play I went on a proxy hunt that also managed to display the CAPTCHA upon registration.

Anyway after 10 minutes I was signed up with an account and playing. If anyone would like to give it a try (hey it's free isn't it? :)) below is a quick how to on getting registered.

(Am I even allowed to post this?)

    1. Go to www.gingerproxy.com (it's the only I can find that displays the CAPTCHA)
    2. Enter in the address https://eu-players.tcos.com and click "Browse"
    3. Click on the "Register" button on the right hand side and go through (KEEP THE BROWSER WITH GINGERPROXY OPEN)
    4. Open a new tab/browser and go to the email address you entered for the confirmation email.
    5. Copy and past the activation link in to the gingerproxy.com site and click "browse" again. It will now confirm your account registration and you are now able to log in and play.

[Edit] the above can also be done for anyone not able to sign up

Nice one mate, unfortunately I cannot be bothered.

If Frogster don't want us to play their game with silly IP blocks, I will respect their wish and I won't.

Also I ve already moved on, I cannot be arsed with this crap (I mean the developer behaviour).

I still don't get why some games have IP blocks, I can see nothing but bad come of it? Then again I'm not "business savvy" so there's probably a half decent reason.

Good luck with what ever game you have moved on to!

You're face must have been a wierd shade of gray after holding your breath for so long!

Play another game, get bored with it, then sign up for TCoS. I mean, were you really planning on doing nothing until TCoS comes out even if it were released on time?

I moved on to play DDO, but as fantastic as that game is, it has a lifespan of about 6 months if I were to guess. Then its time for the next game and it will likely be TCoS. By then they will have the market and hopefully mounts and a few extra instances.

That's the beauty of MMOG's. They only get better if you wait a while before playing them. Its actually a very bad idea to play a MMOG at release. These delays seem to bother some people greatly, but it makes no sense to me because the game will only be a whole lot better when we do get around to playing it.
