That's one thing I look forward to in this MMO.. the ships! I have always loved reading about them. Even went to a trek convention and bought one of those books about all the different ships.

I think my fav is still the Defiant tho =)

Actually, the above is an image of the NX-91001:

    startrekonline.com/ships/nx91001

It may look like a Sovereign class, it's possible it is even a Sovereign refit, but... The NX designation refers to prototype vessels. The first Defiant captained by Sisko was an NX. The first Enterprise in the series of the same name was an NX. Refits typically keep the NCC designation.

And no where does it mention in the above link that it is a Sovereign class.

    Exploration vessel; Commissioned: 2409

A starship designed to carry Federation influence throughout the Alpha Quadrant and beyond, the NX-91001 is one of the first multi-role starship designs since the Sovereign class was commissioned in the early 2370s. Able to function as a deep-space explorer with extensive sensors and laboratory facilities for scientific research, the NX-91001 also is outfitted as a heavy cruiser armed with some of the latest in Starfleet weapons technology for deployment in hostile areas.

this is the only part that mentions it, i think it means refit

In my opinion, the only thing that means is it's the first multi-role starship since the Sovereign class >.>

As in, since the Sovereign, there haven't been any new multi-role starship designs. Until the NX-91001.

Doesn't this make you want to say "Take her to warp 5 ensign, Engage"

Currently restarting World of Warcraft :/

That picture has two ships in it, one on top of the other, looks like an artist copy and paste mistake, althou the ship it self does look sweet.

You're right, it is two ships, one on top of the other, good eye.

Look at the screen shot that mmorpg.com supplied and then look at the link destiny-star posted and compare them.

Hey yeah, you're right. I didn't actually look at the full image on here when I posted, I just saw the ship's registry in the thumbnail and so pointed out their mistake.

But now that I look at the full image, yeah, that definitly aint how it's supposed to be.

Yeah, only a shame you have to say it to a bunch of NPC's rather then a playercrew.

Go back and read your post and tell me you can do it without laughing at yourself.   This is not a trekkie convention where you go to show off your knowledge of silly details.

Let's let Cryptic create the game and then judge it in it's entirety, not on some silly details made up by some trekkie in the distant past.

All I can say is, thank heaven I don't have to say it to a player crew. Having to stand in some spaceport spamming "LFM for space mission" would be the kiss of death for this game.

I've looked at both and still don't see the two ships thing. Are y'all talking about that 'bridge' between the nacelles?

I like the Sovereign class, most of the ship designs of the Next Gen era on actually. I just hope you can beef them up without changing the look of the ship too much or at all if you choose. The kitbash look never did anything for me.

Either way, I can't wait for STO. Looking good so far...

Destiny-Star, I agree with you. Its definately not Sovereign class, its a new class ship. And the picture has two ships in it, one on top of the other. :P

Just look at the outside of the ship. It is a double image all around. The link provided shows the original image. I don't know how you can miss it.

OMG this looks so cool, i really cant wait. I am not that a Star Trek fan, but i really like to play the games. And this MMO will be awesome, as long as SOE don't even think about it. If it ever will have a sentence in it with "working with SOE" or similiar, i will quit. :P

But for now, awesome work dev team..

I was thinking more along the lines of Puzzle Pirates Jobber recruit system, where you can job on any ship for anyone if they let you, or join a Crew permanatly and work for it when your on, or job for another crew, those these jobbers could not raise in rank on the ship, they could raise their skills in a skilled based system. And if not enough people are on in your crew, if you want a fully good crew you can depend on, you could hire NPCs instead of jobbers. Anyway, the game isnt like that so :(

No, you don't understand..  This is the unique Warp technology that allows the ship to go to Warp 10 using the energy of Warp 5.  IT DOUBLES ITSELF, doubly folding space and creating Warp origami.
