That is some very sound down to earth thinking. Bravo! Lets just give them some more time, about a month sounds about right.

"Time" is the ONE thing they've had plenty of...and look how well they've spent it.

Sorry, giving Aventurine more time is like giving a Milky Way  to a diabetic.

Ah well, back to playing real games for me.  You guys enjoy your wait.  I have no doubt it'll be a long one.

    Yep.

Believing in Aventurine is now like believing in religion: there's no evidence whatsoever to support your belief, and only blind faith can sustain said belief.

Nobody will get in because its just another lie.

Lol, and all the beta leakers with screen shots of ingame footage are "hoaxes". You kids at MMORPG really have got some issues.

There are no beta leaks. There is an NDA in effect. Have you not heard?

I just hope no one buys the "stress test under NDA" bullshit.
You can do stress test OR you can keep NDA. No one has ever been able to do both at once and no one will ever be. Period.

Controlled beta invite with a NDA intact. So no "try before you buy", no info or videos before they start accepting money from pre-orders.

Not likeing the sound of this.

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

Yep I have never heard of such a thing either. An NDA for a stress test and free trial?

Come on people, something is SERIOUSLY wrong with this game.

Nice to hear everything is going as planned.

But what should i do with my new computer  if i dont get a invite? I have nothing else to play : (

First wave of Invites - Thursday January 22 2009

Posted by Darkfall News on January 22, 2009 20:36

This is an update about what is happening today:
We have sent out the first wave of invites to clans and individual testers. We will send more waves of invites within a few hours. Invited players will be able to download the Darkfall installer.
We are applying the latest patch, and players will be able to start patching soon, and entering the game.
We are spacing out the invites in order to facilitate the download of the client. We will continue sending out more invites every day until we reach our capacity.
Since this first phase has to do with stress testing the servers, and doing final testing on features, we are not lifting the NDA until this testing is concluded.
We apologize for the problems with the forums and the website today, we have been experiencing denial of service attacks, and we are working to resolve them.

    Nice news.

Most games DO NOT lift NDA until Open Beta. Warhammer didn't lift their NDA until open beta. What exactly were you expecting?

They're still testing, adding content, adding features to the external builds. Why would they lift their NDA more than a month before release? You're a fool if you think they'd do that.

Back in December Tasos claimed DF was already in a state to rival released games. Any way you slice it he is lying.

As for NDA... Most NDAs are dropped weeks before release. You could argue that we are still a month out, but the news blurb states the NDA will not be dropped until testing is complete. Since this testing includes a stress test (show me another MMO that had an NDA during stress testing) chances are the NDA will be in effect up until just before release. This is odd any way you slice it.

There is no mention of an "open" beta so I am inclined to believe there will not be one.

Finally, the game you listed had far more concrete information out months before release then DF has now with about 30 days to go. This is bad any way you slice it.

Some tubby bloke sitting in a basement msn'ing his virtual friends as they giggle about how even he can't believe people still eat this shit up.

EDIT: Replying to the silly posts above me: This is only stage one of the test, so there's probably going to be more stages, and they'll probably get rid of the NDA later on (or not at all). And, keep in mind the SOFT CAP (they can handle much more, apparently, this is just a stability cap) on the servers is 10,000. So they're going to be inviting about 20,000 of their applicants.
Basically, there's quite a large chance of getting into this. :)

This is based on what?  The post specifically states "we are not lifting the NDA until this testing is concluded".  How is 20k out of 300k a "large chance of getting into this"?

If you're going to try to quote facts at least make sure they support your argument.

You might recall Warhammer lifted it's NDA on Aug 19, 2008. The game was released on Sept 18. 2008. That's a lifted NDA one month before the release.

Aventurine should lift their NDA in 3 days if you want to compare it to WAR.   I'm willing to bet Aventurine won't do that.

History has shown that we should be suspicious of any game that clings too tightly to the NDA.   At least history has shown it to those who can accurately remember and learn from it.

    Another example would be LotRo.

Turbine lifted the NDA on Feb. 12th, 2007 the game was Released on April 24th, 2007

They had a full Public OPEN BETA available on April 6th, 2007

So here we have an example of an MMO who lifted their NDA almost a full month BEFORE they even started a full Public Open Beta.

I was tempted to get involved with this forum again more seriously before the delay.  Even after the delay I still haven't.  I think i'll continue to watch how this unfolds.  It is providing me with so much amusement.   *pulls up a lawn chair and grabs bag of popcorn*
