It is about time they finally loosened restrictions on this. I need to grow me some organs.

How much you think I can get for my stem cells?
Guess thats just the FDA, they drag their feet on everything. It is kinda of funny somthing that got the go ahead in 2001 finally starts 7 years later right after an election.
First things first. I need to make a backup of my kidneys and lungs.
Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!
PFFFT.. f*ck organs I need more brain power!!! Hook me up!
I'll be able to learn the 15 other languages no problem now!

Think I'm going to invest into a dual core processor. It'll also give me someone to talk to when I'm bored and home alone.
i wonder how much it would cost to under go through stem cell procedure.. like rejuvinatin your kidneys and stuff...
That depends upon whether or not scientists find a way to reliably "manufacture" stem cells. If they are able to culture all they want, it wouldn't cost a great deal more than standard methods of organ transplant. If they are forced to harvest the cells, it would remain too costly for any but the insanely rich.
By the way, stem cell research would not help to actually rejuvenate anything, the way it would have to be done is by way of growing a new organ in a lab, then using it to surgically replace the existing organs in your body. The advantage of this of course is that the new organs would be completely free from any toxins or other damage accumulated throughout life.
One alternative for organ replacement is raising a pseudoclone. If an animal, let us say a Chimp or Bonobo, had particular portions of your DNA transplanted over its own as an egg, its vital organs would not only be effectively identical to yours, but your immune system would also recognize it as the same tissues. This would eliminate nearly all of the complications that arise in normal transplants. Of course, there isn't a single animal rights movement that would allow it, and frankly, I can't think of many people in the world that would be comfortable with raising a living creature that shares some of the unique coding of your being, and then killing it for the purpose of harvesting the organs.

Just like they don't allow animal testing for consumer products. Yep.
Also, if allowed to continue with embryo stem cells, growing the actual organs would be an eventual realization. They wouldn't need to continue the route that they have been forced down the past decade because of embryonic stem cell research bans.

is there a devil in stem cell research?
i've heard it too that many, specially the catholic church are banning the stem cell research.. they don't see any good from it? i believe stem cell procedure will be able to save more lives then as of what we have right now.. i know that its God who made humans like he created the whole structure with the brains, lungs etc.. and that is also why God also gave us the knowledge to explore and learn things..
about the procedure, they will get a tissue sample and make a replica of your own like your liver.. how long would the process be? will it take months? what if you only have around 2weeks before you die? can we make an advanced "creation" of the said organ?

The problem is not with the research, but with the source of research materials.
Let me explain, there are two principle varieties of stem cells. The more common type is found in every single organ of your body. BUT, they can only create cells of the type used in the organ they are taken from, and any natural defects in such will be repeated. The other much more useful variety can be coerced into creating tissue of any kind, but only are present in first and second trimester fetuses.
So yes, the church has a problem with research involving the dissection of dead children, and that's without the issue of abortion thrown in.
For the other, that depends on the size of the organ. If I recall correctly, the ear grown in a lab recently took about a week to gestate. Unless the technique significantly improves, I would expect a much larger organ like a liver to take at least a month or two.

Did anyone by chance see a really old God awful film called Parts: The Clonus Horror?
If you are not being responded to directly, you are probably on my ignore list.
Don't forget the liver!
I wouldn't need either.. I have a twin brother that could easily "disappear" and his organs easily "reappear" in my freezer. Too bad all his organs will probably fail before mine.. fuckin alchoholic

You have a twin? OMG...::pull your mind out of the gutter Kristi:: lol
sad. how things are in this stem cell issue. sad that people are benefiting from others demise.
That's only because of the restrictions researchers are under, prior to the bans, and they will resume it after they've been lifted, the second kind of stem cells are primarily obtained from aborted early gestation fetuses, and/or fetuses that were fertilized in vitro.
Here's why, an unfertilized egg yields exactly one stem cell. A dead early stage fetus can yield several thousand.

If it could only yield one stem cell then it wouldn't be a stem cell. Stem cells have the ability to create duplicates of itself never ending.
