Odd idea

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy MMO. That being said I think it would be a good idea for some of the popular MMOs to offer a single player expansion/option. Of course this would not work with a game like EQ or DaoC, but hear me out.

It seems like alot of the games being released nowadays are more or less crap. I am talking about Shadowbane, Horizons(so crap), SWG, et cetra. Maybe my expectations are set too high, but there is a long list of games that I have purchased to pass the time which were so bad they were almost unplayable. Furthermore, it seems like the RPG genre for the PC has dwindled to D&D style 2d stat fests (nvn, balder, etc).

I got this idea playing Diablo II one night. Why shouldn't these other games be forced to release a 1P version of their game? I am talking about these games which are so horrible (to me personally, and in most cases, many others) For the rest of this post I will speak only about Horizons, yet many points and such will relate to the entire grouping of new-crap-mmo.

These games are 50-60 bucks a piece. If they are horrible, they are UNUSABLE after 1 month. Furthermore, in Horizon's case, many promises were made that were never fullfilled. (adult dragons character sprites, "dynamic" crafting)  So its like, go to a car dealership...listen to salesman tell you that it has antilock breaks, and a high speed performance engine...then you take it home and shortly later you find out those breaks won't be installed for a few months and the engine explodes into 10 billion small pieces. Not only did you get screwed when you bought your car, but now you are without transportation again after just buying it.

Its my idea that these game designers out for a quick buck should be forced to provide a 1P version of their game. If this was created as a rule, not only would people be able to continue to play games like Horizons after they decided they would rather chop off a leg than pay 14 more dollars for subscription, but also it would keep the most horrible of horrible games off the market.

anyway, sorry about the long post, im just that bored

For one i'm sure all of us are happy and fine with youposting your opinion about Horizons, but don't bash it sooo badly. The game wasn't that freaking bad. You mention all the bad things and none of the good. For one thing the character creation was very nicely made and yes i will agree that the game itself could've been better. You also said something about no adult dragons....that because your very impatient, you can have an adult dragon and you can fly around the map....if you had just waited you would've found that out.

As for MMORPG's having a 1p would'nt be all that great. It could be interesting for a short while but the reason a MMORPG is what it is because you can play with hundreds upon hundreds of people at once....single player on an MMORP would have a high chance of ruining the whole game (no matter how bad you think it is.) Every game ever out has upsides and downsides just try not to only pick downsides of games you dislike....try discussing for once something good about one of the games you've tried and didn't like everything about it. Just because you don't like a game doesn't mean there isn't at least one thing you'll like about it. Well sorry for carrying on....have a nice day/night.

Just to let you know, that bold italic font is very annoying...

i dont think that idea would work very well, maybe if it was 1p in the first place. and yes i agree the italics is very bad and hard to read.
