WoW being taken down in 2009?

Why the hell would they shut down WoW if it were still going strong then?

Blizzard doesn't care if you're paying your sub on WoW or their next MMO, long as you're still paying it to them. The only thing they may miss out on is more onetime boxsales (a lot of people don't play 2 MMO's at the same time) but even then it's possible they get a lot of box sales from people who try, don't like it, and then go back to WoW. (assuming it's still going strong)

And even then they can offer a slightly enhanced fee for access to both MMO's.

There's no good reason to shut down WoW at all :)

I seriously doubt this is true, but I thought about it, and it actually makes sense.
If they are working on their next MMO, how are they supposed to make it as successful / more successful than WoW, if WoW is still running? I'm sure that if WoW was taken down, when Blizzard release their next MMO.. surely all the players would flood into their new game, wouldnt they?
They'd need a lot of time for all the flaming to die down thats for sure, lol.
Was just wondering if anyone agrees that it would make sense? I can't see Blizzard trying to compete with 'themselves' to bring players over to their new MMO, so how else are they going to do this?
Will WoW be taken down this year? Or will it be when Blizzard's new MMO is actually released?

    LOL

    Go back to Flyff please.

I think its funny that someone would actually think about this as a real possiblilty, why would a company create an addon to the already leading mmorpg, then close it 6 months later. The game is lively and there are lots of lvls running around, yes there is a lot of lvl 80's but there were a lot of 70's, and then a lot of 60's, obviously people are going to rush through 10 levels its not that long. If they made the cap from 80 to 160 i would expect them to take ages to get there lol.

But no there is no way Blizzard would ever close the many servers full of paying customers so they hope that they will go to thier new mmorpg. No company would take that risk as they know the customers will compare it to WoW and not all would bother buying a new game and starting from 1 on a completley different game.

If this was the case wouldn't Sony of shut down EQ, SWG etc, because there are newer ones they own?

I fear the release of another blizzard "mmo", arguments in every internet board between blizzard fanboys about which mmo (wow or wow2) was advertised more..
