True, but that is not the games fault.....cant wait to see what the game looks like in HD with maximum graphical settings (those were medium/default)

Less than a month away from launch and still questions remain... :(

     You think that looks GOOD?

That looks terrible. That's what you would expect to see from a video game back in 2001-2002 and even back than games like AC2 looked much better than that.

     Uh I do.

    I think they are terrible.

The overall modelling work is terrible (the horse looks ok). The texture work is bad and bland. The color palette is shit brown. Everything looks washed out and bleached.

This is NOT art from a professional studio.. I can gurantee ya that.

they are not going to get any extra subscribers because of the graphics that's for sure. If anything they're going to lose tons of potential subscribers before they even try the game.

Graphics are outdated but good enough. What is unacceptable are some models and the animations.

Beta tester said you will have no problem running this game with a computer 4-5 years old. I think that answers a lot right there.

If that is true then the main question should be: " how high will the game scale Graphics wise"

    ^ This.

Having a graphical engine thats able to accomodate machines that are 4-5 years is a good thing business wise (Worked for Blizzard).

Question is, will the game scale higher with newer machines or will it just look exactly the same as if it were played on a machine a few years old?

As for the Dev videos, Graphics look nice when your running at over 100fps and the machine isnt trying to render other players on screen. For every entity the machine tries to render the worse fps you will get. You will also start to notice how fugly some of the textures look.

Also you have to take Dev released screens with a grain of salt. Most of thier "in game" screens are taken and composed on a high end system and tweaked to look better than anything else (this doesnt just apply to DF, as many devs use this trick. Kinda like how models on magazine covers are airbrushed to look near flawless)

There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

I don't think anyone with any common sense believes that they have the talented required to make it work the way it did for Blizzard.

I'm not at all worried about the graphics.

The latest video leak I have seen had excelent graphics, but really very bad animation. Immersion breaking even.

However, none of this compares to the lack of promised features or the fear for empty servers that so many new mmo's have to deal with. Will DF be an exception?

    Well yeah...

It just amazes me how in the official vids the game looks almost a year or two old, even the screenshots are high quality.

Then you see some of the leaked vids and screens or even in game and the character models are kinda blocky with painted on gear. Somethings just not right...

This game dose alot of things varry difrantly than other MMO's that thay may need to take a few hits on graphics for  WOW dosnt have to have hit boxs's for one in other MMO's you dont have to activly hit your target were as darkfall you do,

Also i can walk through every PC,NPC in wow. HELL some boss's the best way to beet them is by standing inside of them,

the targiting systome in games like WOW, ARC2, FF11 and EQ2 saves a hole hell of alot of resources

not to mention things like  you realy cant intoract with the environment in game's like that.

Edit: also No Zones in darkfall

The graphics are not fantastic, but they are by absolutely no means bad either. The game is quite fine to look at, which is perfect because the graphics were always intended to be the middle ground, nothing spectacular but not bad either.

And to comment the pic. Whats so impressive here? Honestly, the human model is just uninspired... grass? every games have that.. trees? imho looks crapy, nothing impressive. Horse looks good, sword and shield, rest is crap. No artwork, no originality.

God damn hypocrite. First you complain that the graphics are too good and they will slow down the game.

In the next paragraph you complain that the graphics are bad.

Moron, I NEVER said DF graphics is good, i found it mediocre. Per pixel lighting does not means good graphics. In fact DF graphics fails in terms of artwork.

The game, for how few people have made it, looks fucking legendary. You obviously haven't the faintest clue how difficult it is to create something like this. Those graphics look fanfuckingtastic.

Could we stop posting that picture? That orange palette is really ugly. There are much nicer pictures.

After reading up on it I am quite excited regarding some of the features, seems to be directed back at old school hardcode MMO's!
What I'm not sure about are the Graphics, I have read a few comments about how bad they are and how dated they are - also have read comments about how good they are!!
Does anyone know for sure if they are going to be sub-par or not?
Are we talking Oblivion style Graphics of FFXI?
    Thanks

Just so you know almost every single MMORPG is like FFXI graphics. They do not go into much more detail the ONLY difference is shaders/layering of textures.it does add a nicer shiny look to things in the game. The things like armour and weapons might utilize hi resolution textures in some of the newer games or EQ2,but the majority of the games textures are low end just like FFXI.

Basically from what i have seen in the videos DF uses shaders but as far as hi resolution textures go, it seems like they do in the usual armour weapons but landscape is like every other game low end graphics. In games like AOC/Vanguard you will see shiny rocks and surfaces that APPEAR more realistic, that is about the only difference. Most players do not eve nrealize or notice the shadows/lighting in games so i won't even coment on that.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Do you really think that picture is a in-game screenshot ? If that was the case then the presentation at the convention would have looked the same, but sadly it did not.

The gfx dont look at all like that guy with the horse picture, it's clearly been touched up.

The Gene simmons picture looks more like the real thing.,

They are certainly not oblivion, but can be turned up to look quite good. All screenshots and videos are taken at medium setting.

    DARKFALL 09!

    Apparently 08 didn't make it :(

Why? What is the reasoning behind doing that?
