Contrary to skewed fanboy logic the game is far from perfect. In your opinion, what is the biggest flaw we know about? Whats your #1 worry or turnoff?
Mine is the allignment system. Arbitrary, built it factional warefare is just stupid. It goes totally against the "freedom" DF aimed for. I shouldn't have to like/not-attack someone just because the arbitrary game mechanics tell me. Relationships should be built, not engraved by game designers.

Good point, the alignment system does seem to be contrary to a FFA PVP model. If it was done just to reduce ganking, there's lots of other things I can think of that might have proven more useful.
I'm not a fan of the gank mechanic. One nice thing DAOC had in the day was if a player was engaged with an NPC mob, and another player attacked them, the player who was attacked went back to full health instantly. Only mistake they made was in not having the mob break off aggro as well.
I think I'm going to hate the fact that I'll be engaged in a PVE fight to the death only to have an Archer or mage cut me down, and then loot me and the mob I was fighting.

Unreliable, Untrustable, developpers.
Definitely Aventurine. While they have good intentions and are promising alot, I sincerely doubt they can deliver everything at a generally accepted level.

A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

My biggest concern is that they are going to try and stick to the Feb 25th release date.
I've snooped around a lot over the last few days and am now convinced that Darkfall is real. But I've also noted that the majority of the beta testers who post at the "leak" websites don't think DF will be ready for release come Feb 25th. The biggest mistake that Adventurine could do is release the game before it's ready.
My biggest concern is that they are overpromising and overhyping what will be in the game when it launches.
the main thing that bother me is you hire NPC guard and they attack clan members because are from another race HELLO you pai this guard you are their boss you should decide what ppl to attack and which not
imo this is idiotic/stupid
BestSigEver :P
My concern is that the game will be released in an unfinished/heavily bugged state.
The lies.
If they were open and honest about the game instead of making arrogant statements, I'm sure there'd be far less trolls.
I hope that they delay the game until March at the very least, I also hope they sort out the stamina issue and balance this out from what I have heard it's not working how intended.
I would also like to see some honest information from the developers too as they are far too quite, even though I do understand that they may well be working flat out a few words daily would at the very least show they are trying to keep everyone informed.
Like many have already stated the frustration in the lack of information could have a severe impact on the game and make it difficult for many people who may want to try this game and waste their money.

We aren't allowed to talk about the beta leaks. So this thread is rather pointless.
Very few pics and actual gamplay video. I want to see polished footage of gameplay and graphics. It concerns me that very little is out there.
Played : WOW, LOTRO, COH/COV, EQ2, SWG, and WAR.
Playing EVE Online and AOC.
Wtg for SW:TOR and WOD
Only one negative really and thats the NDA. That has less to do with the game and more to do with AV.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
My concern would be the people who are liking the game for the wrong reasons.
I have seen many people talk about how it is Old School UO etc etc, yet when you look at their posted ages they couldnt have been more than 7 - 10 years old when UO went trammel/felluca. They remember a very small part of a game that was more than just PvP and full loot. Whats worse is they dont understand what happened to the game due to the mechanic. To most of them they see the split as being due to housing space when in reality it was due to a majority of the players getting tired of the ganking and the ganker mentality.
There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
i'd say its the lame housing system. I could have sworn i read somewhere that i could have a little house all to myself in the middle of nowhere but upon further reading i have discovered the housing system runs on preplaced locations for buildings and it appears that there is no single house option (seems to me that you have to buy a clan hamlet stone and then build you home).
While this does piss me off greatly it will sort itself out once i join a clan (after a few weeks of lone wolf style gaming). Still, it would have been nice to have my old SWG base. Returning home after hunting in the wilds around my house and restocking on weapons and food....good times.

Agreed. This gank mechanic will drive some people crazy, myself included. I have to admit that I've not been a huge fan of PVP, but then I've never found a game with a system that I found fairly balanced according to my own ideals. Most of the PVP style games I've played have been nothing but gankfests with no level restrictions applied to whom one can attack at any given level. This being skillbased may be the answer though. Alignment has never been a deterent and never will be if it doesn't have huge consequences.
The hardcore PVPers will no doubt have a field day with this comment and that's fine. I only submit that my concerns are that the sheer level of frustration that this mechanic will engender to the game will even drive many "hardcore" PVPers from the game when all is said and done. I'm afraid that this game is going to be nothing more than a huge street fight and only a very few will be left standing to play the game after a few months and those that stay will have little to do but reminisce of the times they drove "so-and-so" from the game. That is just a feeling... not a prediction.
Despite those feelings I will be giving the game a shot with all effort and who knows? I may actually find myself enjoying it. As I said... my PVP experience is limited but it doesn't mean I wouldn't like to participate. That said, I'm prepared to take my beatings in the hopes of finding a worthwhile game.
Don't post much...woot 2nd post!
What worries me is the alignment system and the griefing that I think will occur as a result. Thenoobcomic preview stated that you get a hit to your alignment when you kill a member of your own faction, yet it appears, from her own preview, that this will be easily exploited.
If I'm attacking a mob and 2 or 3 of my same faction want to kill me all they have to do is stand near the mob and hope for some of the splash damage that everyone is so excited about. As soon as I damage them then I am now a fair kill (grey to them), so they kill me without any ding to their alignment. I can just see packs of these players griefing their own faction this way.
Or even worse having people at very low health jump infront of me killing a mob so that I kill them and then I become a free kill for their friends but I also take a ding to my alignment. It just seems to easy for people to grief others into becoming muderers this way.
Anyways I still would like to play this game when it eventually comes out, I just see it as being a griefers paradice.
My one big concern is a full loot system:
Why ever wear armor if someone will take it? Armor will rust in banks never to be taken out. Seems kind of pointless. I could understand a single-item/multi-item loot system, but a full loot system? Blargh. If the game doesn't lead people away, the zerg guild with the most people will.
He who keeps his cool best wins.
I'll second that this is not good news. Those that are leaking say that the melee combat is not where it should be. However, this might stem more from the character resets, since no one really has opened up enough skills to do anything but the common fps circle jerk.

Aye, right now it kinda works like UO where people would wait for you to attack a mob, use a spell such as the spinning blade thing (wtf was the name of that...) and then make sure they got hit by the spell so they can kill you without going red.

I guess it would be about their budget, servers, and having too much interest in the game to support all the players with these things. Once they can handle their player base I think they will be quite successful and it will be a very good game for those that are into this kind of thing.
Its rather hard to restrict it to just 1.
#1 Less than 1,000 people in beta as of a week ago, and fairly sure still less than 1,000. Thats horrifying this close to release.
#2 Practically no testing of some of the major features.
#3 Restriction of all news to sources that are either close friends or employees.
#4 Saying everyone would get to try the game before they buy, now... only a few hundred of us will apparently get to try it.
I hope desperately that DF turns out to be a good game, but to be quite honest, the way its being managed atm leads me to believe its going to be quite a strugle to even stay afloat due to poor management / poor testing.
I have been burnt before from what are now failed or vaporware MMO's [dark and Light for example] So the lack of solid information is what puts me off.
Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981
These are some good points......If the game world is really almost 19 gigs at this point then there is alot to test...>Also with that much data there is going to be alot of bugs......While Im sure they are catching some of those I dont think the low amount of beta testers they have can get very much of a world that size......I would anticipate the first few months as being very buggy and in a beta state similar to what players experienced in Vanguard........Aventurine also scares me as they do business quite a bit differently than most of the other MMO companies out there........What they hae to understand is when you charge money for your product then your customers have high expectations......
It not being released.
Sure, the game really could suck, but that would only meet expectations and who worries about expectations being met?
I fully expect Darkfall to get a lackluster reception and some people will call it the new dark and light. Its hard to imagine it any other way because so many people are expecting WoW but they be getting Shadowbane. So a big rush and huge falloff of customers is what I expect.
But my concern is that the game really is "shadowbane done right", but becomes unplayable because of cheating and hacking. If the game was not designed with security in mind from day one, the servers will be rooted and random hackers will able to cheat in all aspects of the game. The fun will be taken away when we find out that the 'leet guilds got all their money from duping, have god-mode hacks and can listen in on your private tells.
