    In Europe, we've got roughly:

    20 Med/Med servers

    45 Low/Low servers
This is a massive amount of servers, but there's too many. Say we merge the Low/Low and end up with

    40 Med/Med servers.
Now compare with a game like LotRO which is very succesful, yet only has 11 servers live in Europe, and has been out for a long time now, while WAR is still a very new game. Hard to predict how large WAR will be a few years down the road. But it seems like Mythic currently has a lot of money flowing in. WAR hasn't even expanded to Asia yet.
WoW has well over 200 servers (almost 300?) in Europe I believe.

Wrong, they had 800k "Registered users" in the first month. They didn't have 800k subscribers after the first month.

  •  Pretty sure the 800,000 subscribers was all over the news. It wouldn't make much sense either that 400,000 players would magically forget to play the game they bought.

That "news" was based on the quarterly result report which was talking about a quarter which *ended* in the first month of WAR's release. So that 1.2 million was units sold *to retailers* and the 800k is the number we had already gotten several times.

We've already seen reports of their sales to retailers before and it only makes sense that an EA financial report would be talking about sales from their company rather than direct sales to consumers.

If you read one of MJ's latest replies on it (the one Popinjay called "interview'" from me) you could see he also made a clear distinction  about sales to consumers and sales to retailers which the upcoming EA talk might be about meaning he knows they could just as easily talk about "to consumers". That's why I asked him about it to begin with and why i said the EA financial report had been anything but "clear" on what the numbers were.

There have *never* been confirmed subscriber numbers from WAR up till this point. If the EA guy doesn't even mention WAR MJ said he'd give us some numbers but still not current subscribers, just units sold to consumers.

I estimate WAR's subs to be around the 300k mark, probably a bit less. WAR took quite a hit when WotlK launched, just like all other games. Recently however I am pleased to see many new faces joining the game probably because WoW's pvp is somewhat of a mess right now. All those who did not like the game have already quit imo. So yeah my european server has been increasing slowly but steadily in population. Mythic has been patching like crazy and I do believe that in time WAR will probably grow a little bigger after the newly announced rvr dungeon is introduced in the game.

Actually, I would say that the Mods here have been extremely lenient on the postings. If you ask the crazy WAAAGGGHers, (not the WAR fans) they'll tell you they don't ban enough here. That's why the nuttier ones went over to Happyland WHA. That says a lot because mods here even said they play and LIKE WAR, but they don't ban heavy here.

Soon there will be in WAR official forums, where all that blind cheerleading should have been done in the first place. (which I said they needed ALL along, but MJ said no we don't) Third party forums should always let the fur fly as long as it's not too personal between differing camps. They usually are the truest forum for free speech.

If you look at the Darkfall forums in MMORPG, that's the Wild West. I'm only go there sometimes its so scary. There are 50 pages thread of flames lol. Mods aren't heavy handed in there.

Overall, I think the mods here let people pretty much do their thing.

Till they publish the population figures its all speculation so don't hold anything to the figures that are posted here, one person might get lucky and post the right amount but it will be luck alone.

I play on phoenix throne and Vortex. Both servers are doing well and populations are actually increasing. Example I placed 50-80th out of 85 in december on a keep sieges ( I am a healer). Now on keep sieges I place 60-90 out of 150. thats 70 more players average per keep siege. I use to only see one or two open groups in a zone. Now I see 5-10 alot of times and some of them are not groups but warbands. in november 20 servers were low now only one server is low.  So population is growing.

Tbh it wouldn't suprise me if it had an AoC exodus... I got this game a few weeks ago and while I think it's fun, the optimisation in this game is a joke. I have played the game in closed beta and despite reporting problems such as huge memory usage, terribly jerky frame rates, nothing was done about it. While my computer certainly isn't the best going, there is absolutely no excuse for the fact that I can't get above 10-15 fps even on the lowest settings.  I let some of my friends use my account to give it a whirl and 3/5 of them also reported terrible frame rates. It's a shame really as this game had such huge potential for a pvper like myself but it's hard to enjoy a game when your frame rate drops below 10 in packed areas and you try turning around.. it stinks of EA's sweatshop ethics all over it to be fair.

this IMO is war's biggest problem because every MMO is constantly bleeding subs but can that MMO bring in and retain new people and WAR can't.  T1 and T2 are ghost towns for most servers (skull throne is doing great because it has a lot of rerolls on it right now so T1 and T2 are good there)  anyone buying the game on a whim or checking out a free trial because they want to see what this RvR massive battle mmo game is like gets smacked right in the face with a barren battlefield and choose not to stay.  people arent enjoying tier 4 because its busted (hopefully fixed tommorow) and have quit.  so war is not getting any new subs on the front end and losing them on the back end because they, just like AOC, refuse to swallow their pride and merge servers while they still have people to merge.
there is a reason Lotro has done well and stayed strong, they have as few servers as possible, condensing the playerbase, and putting a big emphasis on the first M in mmo and thats what mythic needs to do.  drop the 35+ servers they have to 9.  1 rp server, the 2 Orvr servers, and 6 core servers.  have the game sitting at med/med all day long and high/high in the evening so war is everywhere across all tiers.  new people will stay, old people will stay.  instead of the Renown Train going choochoo around barren battlefields we will have large armies going pew pew like the 2 weeks of open beta and the first month of the game.

I would play if they did this.

    Ah, that makes sense, thanks.

Anyway I asked her how was Warhammer. She told me its a terrible game and that she only checks in to chat for a bit. She says the falloff in players reminds her of Age of Conan where roughly 700,000 bought the game but maybe 75,000 remain if that.
She mentioned the endgame is just plain boring and no reason to stick around for years really. So when people reach the lvl cap they dont stay for long.
Is Mythic merging servers ? Are they losing masses like AoC did ?

plenty of med/med servers to choose from.
