So... your thinking of subbing to this game are you? Left me share my experience of this game... and before the nay sayers get doing there blah blah blah, i will say ive been playing Ryzom since 2005, so those thinking i am but a newbie can venture of too pastures new.
Where to start is the biggest problem i have about this game... So i guess i shall start with pvp, something dear to my heart.
PVP is so laughable in this game your think April fools, thats how bad it is....
To actually get players to pvp you have to (1 Irritate them to the point of harrassment.
(2) Become a no life bastard that stands in a pvp zone waiting for that ONE player to appear so you can attack them...
(3) Or as most do... only becoming active in PVP when you have many players that out number the enemy in a fight.
PVP in Ryzom is the worst of any game on the MMO market, if you plan on having some PVP, then this is not your game.
However, if you plan on digging and crafting for pointless reasons, then this is your game!
Ooops, forgot to add that you can PM me about any questions, i will give an unbiased opinion about the game
Ahhhh i forget the most important thing about it all, my name in Ryzom, its Valko!

The fact that you are Valko explains a whole lot... and I'm affraid it takes a lot away from any credibility this post could ever have add. Ryzom is not a PvP focused game. If it's PvP focus you're looking for, go play Darkfall and leave this game in peace. What you want is a griefer's paradise and Ryzom doesn't fit that description in any way.
To each their own. Those are your views and I disagree with them since I've had quite a lot of PvP fun recently, in which, strangely enough, you were never involved.
PvP in Ryzom is a Feature, not a Focus.

You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.
What you've posted already is beyond biased, yet you offer an unbiased review. If you like the game, that is fine, but if you want to present facts (which would be unbiased) you have to leave personal preference and opinion out completely.
Now that you have presented yourself, my opinion doesn't change.
You are just showing your frustration because you can't handle a game. I remember you, Ryzom is a game.

Incidentally for quite some time the situation on Leanon (German) Server was a bit like that.
For month now the Karavan Faction had been outnumbered and pretty desolate, seeing almost no sense in fighting back against the huge Kami population. They were simply outnumbered by far.
But since about a week ago, they are on the rise again.
They´ve pulled themselves together and now are winning OP-fight after OP-fight.
Three in a row is a great achivement and against supperior odds its quite marvelous.
They´ve gotten quite the confidence boost from this and I don´t think that this is in any way
due to some obscure imbalancing in the system or some other mechanic.
They´ve simply not given up and they´re fighting like mad Vorax!
They´re driving the Kamists out of Matia and will try to do so in Tryker for sure!

If you're a hardcore pvper there is no reason at all to play Ryzom.
Annoying people to no end so they fight you for your only pvp action sounds lame imo.
I recently logged into a Event and while traveling through the roots (a pvp zone) the pvpers actually apologized to the rest of the community for interupting the event. Even though all they were really after was some good old pvp action in a pvp zone.
These pvpers are so starved for action. just leave the game guys, leave it for the diggers and crafters with millions of dappers. This game is not for you. Go play Eve or wait for DF amd if those don't foalt your boat play a FPS.
I feel bad for you guys even the RPers get more action that you.

I agree that Ryzom Ryzom isn´t a Game for Hardcore PvP.
Players who like it rough and tough with all the grid and "hardcoreness" expected from some of the upcoming developments in the near future will not find it to their liking, yes.
But if you´re in for casual PvP with a bit of background and well, as weird as it may sound "friendly" PvP" you´re more than welcome on Atys I´d think.
But one thing confuses me a bit metalhead:
What do you mean by your apparent bewilderment over the "apology"?

It just shows that some people out there do have the decency to not interrupt others fun for the sake of their own.
That´s one reason I like this community so much.

I can't figure out why people keep going on about how bad the PvP in Ryzom is when it should be clear by now that PvP is not the main focus of the game. Anyone who had bothered to take a look at the official site should have a fairly good idea of what to expect regarding PvP in Ryzom. Truth of the matter is that any attempt to add more PvP has been met with a lot of resistance from a (large?) part of the community up to the point of people leaving. Wake up and smell the roses, this is carebear country!
When SoR was released back in 2004 the only way to PvP was to duel and nobody seemed to mind, virtually no one asked for more PvP so why do people come to Ryzom expecting there to be (good?) PvP? Do you think you can and should somehow pressure developers into making every MMO out there cater to that rare breed of gamer who can't get their kick out of anything less than the abuse and humiliation of other players? From what I've heard someone is allready building the game for you so let make a deal: you lot can go play in DF and we won't bother you there.
p.s. don't come back or we'll cuddle you to death....
