If you're new to MMOs, vanguard is not the one to start with.
It's a bit more advanced than other mmos by design, but also because it's simply missing content and features. I played it recently, and simply got sick of unfinished and empty zones, as well as an empty world.
I definitely say it's worth trying, but I say play WoW, LoTRO, or Guild wars (yes it's still VERY good if you haven't played it!)
If your thinkin of tryin Vanguard just download the free trial, make an account and try it out. The Isle of Dawn starter island had 50 people on it last time i was on so it wont feel empty. The community is also the best of any MMO out and will help answer any question you have
thats what i was told when i started eve but i was fine WoW does not appeal to me at all and im not huge fan on the lotr lore but i will check that one out
and is the trial big? im not very patiant with downloading big files
Think the Trial is like 3 Gigs or something.. Nothing Compared to the game tho... My vanguard Folder is like 19 Gigs...
And its not that Bad. there may be Some Half finished areas But for each of those of a Lvl range there are 2 others that are good. And you can Solo in Vanguard. It can be slow But ive Meet several 50's that have done it.

I play casually, the guild I am in is a Casual guild.
It is entirely possible to reach max level, your not going to do it quickly but the journey is fun!
Now playing: VG (after a long break from MMORPGS)
Played for more than a month: Darkfall online, Vanguard SOH, Everquest, Horizons, WoW, SWG, Everquest II, Eve
Vanguard leveling is super easy. I have leveled alts to 50 in less than 7 days played. I have lots of friends that have gotten 50 in less than 5 days played solo or less than a week real time.
It is very casual friendly and very fast leveling game. There is plenty of solo content. One can solo quest all the way to 50 without ever grinding.
Vanguard is very good game. It has the best core mechanics of combat, crafting and diverse classes of any MMO on the market. The downside is the dev team size is small and new content come out a snail's pace. Vanaguard added more content in the first month of release than SOE has added in total since they took over 21 months ago. It is a shame they are not funding the game as its a fabolous game and much better than any other game SOE has.
Makes Me feel Bad my main is Only 23 and Ive been in since launch... tho the XP off Might have something to do with that :P

I would say Vanguard is very well suited for casual gamers. The primary focus of developers has always been group content, thats not to say they don't add stuff for solo/raid play it is just that the majority of content would fall into grouping. That being said if you have a couple hours to spare getting a group together and tackling some of that content is probably the most rewarding way to enjoy the game, if you don't have that long there is plenty of other content to match what other MMO's there have to offer for casual gamers.
I would recommend it for a casual player because first of all crafting is very well done, diplomacy is also another solo non combat activity that anyone can engage in no matter how much time they might have to play at a time. There are also quite a bit of solo content from level 1-50 including some pretty lengthy quest lines that can be broken up to be done by a casual player with ease. The only downside to casual players in this game I would say is the lack of information on the net about quests/items etc. to help you out. This is something that is being remedied lately though as several people have taken up information sites to fill in the gaps left by a few of the older ones which did not update enough to keep up with added content (or even all of the content that was already in game at launch).
A pretty large portion of Vanguard's players could be defined as "casual".

Vanguard is great for casual players. I'm a casual player with 10-20 hours a week usually. You'll just take longer to accomplish certain things, but it's definitely a game that supports the casual play style if that's your preference.
well i just got the game for 98p hahahaha
well il see how the game is now , if i dont like it its no big loss
thanks for the help guys, i used to be a hardcore gamer with 60+ hours a week but with work, uni and social i just dont have the time. and besides iv lost most of my gamer friends
